To only sleep on 100% cotton sheets

Out shopping with my DSis for new bedding. She was in total shock that we (me, dh plus 2 dc) only ever sleep on 100% 300 thread count sheets and pillowcases. She didn’t understand why I would buy poly cotton or percale despite it being cheaper. She thinks I’m a snob 🤣
I thought everyone used pure cotton sheets. Good sheets like good towels and good shoes are just the norm.

No YANBU. I only have 100% too.

I hate poly, cotton sateen and any other blends.

Same goes for my pants too 😂

If you thought everyone used cotton why did you think they sold polycotton..? Show off thread, pointless. I have cotton sheets but I don't think it makes me morally superior

100% cotton sheets here, too. I can’t understand how people can sleep in polycotton or pure polyester sheets - they are so plasticky and sweaty!

Errr no. My sis made a big fuss about it. I thought what I did was normal. Having cotton sheets is hardly showing off.

I’ve never been able feel a noticeable difference between cotton and cotton-mix sheets, however expensive and high thread count people assure me their sheets are, so I’m not really fussed either way. People actively choose cotton-mix for all kinds of reasons - easy wash, more resistant to stains, don’t need ironing, lower cost. Not really an issue to get excited over.

Yep, as is cotton sateen.

I'm surprised that posters humble bragging about their 100% cotton sheets weren't aware of different types of weave.

However kudos to the shops managing to make 100% cotton 300 thread count sound like the most luxurious options available!

Who pays attention to thread count though? That's the snobbish bit for me.

I've got 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers for all the beds. I can't be doing with the feel of cheap polycotton any more. Mostly from supermarkets so hardly high end stuff.

My linen set on the other hand nearly bankrupted me but I absolutely love it.... Not enough to switch it all out though!

100% Egyption cotton, high thread count here too. It's one of the few things I'm happy to spend money on 🤣

I don't like the smell of polycotton.

I'm with you OP; I -detest- polyester / polycotton / whatever you want to call it. Yes its a few quid cheaper and doesnt need ironing, but its just..soo..sweatyy.. 😬 Five minutes on a polycotton sheet and I'm sweating like a pig, and absolutely not getting any sleep. Snobby or not, IDC, cool fresh breatheable bed linen the only way I'm getting to sleep!

Some cotton sheets are quite cheap, cheaper than poly cotton so just get the ones you want. I bought some from Primark for £3 each for covering stuff for decorating, not sure what they were made of though, they may have been cheap cotton.

Never checked what any of my bedding is made from. I go purely by choosing a pattern I like and I like a nice bright sheet to match it.

I own 3 sets for our bed, 2 for the spare and DC have 3 each.

No idea if all or none of them are 100% cotton.
