Depends where you are.
Also different people feel the cold to different extents so while you may not be cold, they may be.

If you don't want the heating on then tell them. Maybe suggest they wear more layers.

GasPanic · 01/08/2023 18:00

The good news is that you've got a few months to get rid before it gets really cold.

SamW98 · 01/08/2023 18:00

I’ve had heating on for an hour in the evenings last few days as I’ve been cold. It’s warmed up a bit today now so hopefully won’t need more heating - I’m in south east

dementedpixie · 01/08/2023 18:00

I'm in Scotland and the thermostat is down at 15⁰C and the heating hasn't been on for ages. Its warm but wet and has been for weeks.

TheChosenTwo · 01/08/2023 18:01

The room I’m in currently says it’s 22 degrees, windows are open and though it’s not what I would consider to be cold there’s definitely a dampness in the air.
my heating will click in if any room drops down to 20 at the moment and I’m not sure it’s done that yet.

ActDottie · 01/08/2023 18:03

South west here and definitely no heating!

Humidititties · 01/08/2023 18:03

It's dark, wet and miserable here in the NW but it's by no means cold...currently 20 degrees

stargirl1701 · 01/08/2023 18:04

I'm in Northern Scotland. It's muggy and 18 degrees. No heating needed.

temosmail · 01/08/2023 18:08

The top figure is the actual temperature

The idea of putting the heating on in August is baffling to me. I am generally a person who feels the cold and the last few weeks I’ve found myself wearing jeans and long sleeved t shirts much more than I would normally expect for the time of year … on a couple of occasions I’ve even put a jumper on. Not once have I even come close to thinking it’s time to turn the heating on! I don’t think we’ve had it on since April.

She constantly opens the bathroom window.... which is going to be an issue in winter.

She will be moving out anyway.

Not here, it's damp and miserable (well today was ok) but cold no unless you are in the n of Scotland

Of her own accord?

Put a locked cover on your thermostat, ASAP.

If you've got a digital one, it's cheaper to just take the batteries out of the thing.

Oh, dear, does it not work? I'll have to get that sorted for winter. When it actually comes, rather than THE FIRST OF FUCKING AUGUST WHEN IT'S 22 CELSIUS, that is.

DinoSaw · 01/08/2023 18:11

Surely you should open the bathroom window?

nocoolnamesleft · 01/08/2023 18:12

I'm currently tempted to put the heating on, but haven't yet. It's chilly up north.

UWOT1 · 01/08/2023 18:12

We're they living with you during the winter? I'd be scared about your bills.

They need to put on layers if they are cold. It's a waste to have heating on now. I've actually got all my windows and back door open. It isn't cold.

EnthENd · 01/08/2023 18:12

I didn't, but I thought about it, which is pretty wild on the first August. I was cold enough that in the middle of the afternoon wearing normal just-come-home-from-work clothes I wanted to lie under the duvet.

But you're within your rights to put your foot down.

tulippa · 01/08/2023 18:13

22 degrees definitely does not need the heating on.

Yes, what is wrong with opening the bathroom window? Ours is always open a bit, except for midwinter.

Greenfree · 01/08/2023 18:13

I've had my heating on since yesterday

temosmail · 01/08/2023 18:13

DinoSaw · 01/08/2023 18:11

There is an extractor fan for showers. You can't expect a window in winter to be open all the time..... it's going to let out all the heat.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 01/08/2023 18:14

If the thermostat is set at 15⁰C then your heating will not actually kick in as the room temperature is above that so you're getting worked up about nothing.

Also.my bathroom window is regularly open too

Well, it's good to open a bathroom window and let the damp out after a shower. It has to be blowing a gale for me not to open mine, even in winter.
