God I am bored of dogs

And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

I can’t believe this thread is still going so strong. Honestly! Some people like dogs, some people don’t. That’s fine. For whatever reason. I bloody love dogs and no one will change my mind about that.

Tough, they are here and always will be.

Those other animals are a natural part of the ecosystem. Dogs are manmade, sustained by mankind, and are not a natural part of the ecosystem.

You didn't answer the question properly. It was asked whether shit-picker-uppers really believe that picking up the big turd means the grass is clear of dog shit. You know it isn't. There will be traces of it, sometimes more than other times depending on the consistency of the pile of dog shit. And comparing dog shit to the muck birds or frogs or horses leave behind is asinine. The majority of horses aren't shitting where kids play, and frogs and birds just don't have the rank kind of shit that canines do. I'd agree about cat shit being vile, and I don't support cat ownership either, but it's far less of an issue in playparks and on the beach, pavements, etc.

Dogs have not always been companions. At one stage they helped with hunting and shit-eating (yes, there is evidence for this), but it's the recent explosion in furbaby crap and taking dogs into cinemas, cafes, supermarkets that is making life shitty for the rest of us. Time was, people would keep their dogs in a kennel outside, not in their bed and on their sofas, and having to go everywhere with their master.

Totally agree with all this.

A lot of the strong feeling isn’t about hating dogs. If I hated dogs I would have had a problem all my life. I haven’t. It’s a recent thing, caused by an explosion in ownership and the poor attitude of many owners.

Talk about complete nonsense! Manmade, hilarious! Do you mean all dogs are born via IVF!!

Yes, I suppose even if you pick up a runny poo, there could be some left on the grass. There can also be fox poo (there are many of them where I live) but as said already, I've not across this ever.

We do know you hate dogs and everything related to them. That's your right but they ARE part of our society, no matter your feeling about them. That sadly for you, you just need to accept and just avoid them as much as possible because they are there to stay.

What's wrong with cat ownership if it's not causing you an issue?

Why are you bothered if someone lets their dog sleep on the sofa or their bed? I don't have a dog but my cat slept wherever he liked. I just used to warn people the sofa might be a bit furry!

It's not recent at all. There has always been dogs in park, streets and other places. Dogs in pubs is not new either.

Dogs in cafes and shops is answer phenomenon but still remains a non common occurence. Ultimately, what is acceptable evolves with people's wishes

I definitely don’t hate dogs. My only problem with them is the horror of their shit. I am obsessive about avoiding it (I admit) but it is everywhere on pavements and parks. Not the case for any other animal.

tootallfortheshelf · 04/08/2023 12:23

I hear you, having to be at close quarters with someone who is merrily swinging a bag of their dogs feces🤮🤮🤮
Everywhere you go there's some dog taking a shit🤮🤮🤮

vivainsomnia · 04/08/2023 12:24

@Myfavouritepenguin, I'm with you about the shit. I hate it too and am appaul at those who don't bother picking it up. They are cowards too because they only fail to do so when there's no one around to challenge them. It really is a minority of dog owners though. Sadly, that will represent a poo a day for that one dog so it's easy to assume it's common.

Humans are to blame though, for not picking up.

Well, indeed. Hence this discussion taking place between humans 🤷‍♀️I rarely remonstrate with the dogs themselves; seems pointless, somehow.

I think you and I live in very different areas. For you dog fouling seems to be a niche activity. Round here it’s all over the place. Our school run is about half to two thirds of a mile, and on that walk I would say there are about 8 piles of it every morning. You’d be very frequently ‘appalled’. Imagine being appalled day in day out. Not infrequently there’s a pile of dog shit outside the school gates.

It’s no wonder people come on these threads and get just a teeny weeny bit annoyed when others spout crap about it not being any worse than frog excreta.

You lot are so precious
And exaggerating... where I live there is hardly any poo

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 05/08/2023 01:35

I don't know where folks live , I hardly ever see any dog poo , see cat poo though . Even when I go to my country park I mostly see human related litter , I can't wait for autumn so that picnickers bugger off and I don't have to pull crap from my puppy's mouth .

Scottishdreams1991 · 05/08/2023 04:26

I dont have an issue with dogs but i do with dog owners. Since covid the entitlement of some are unbelievable. I stay close to a massive green space which a small part of it is closed off to dogs but yet dog owners still go. Some people forget that dogs are animals not humans so putting humans emotions on dog behaviour is pretty unfair on them

I live in a city and there is poo everywhere. In fact, there is currently a massive dollop on the pavement right outside my front gate. I am glad it's raining today as hopefully it will get washed away as I do not want to go near it.

I bet they smell nothing like digestive biscuits

EhrlicheFrau · 05/08/2023 08:22

I wish some retailers would realise that by making their establishment 'dog friendly' they are also potentially making it less friendly to some customers. Dogs really shouldn't need to go everywhere with their owners, if they are properly trained and cared for, except of course service dogs! I definitely don't mind most dogs and I've owned one in the past, but she didn't ever come in a shop or a cafe with me. I spent loads of time walking her, playing with her, cuddling her (she liked it as she jumped up beside me), but she was also happy to curl up in her bed when we were out and about doing other things which were of no interest to her (shopping, eating out and that sort of thing). I do understand some people's fear of their dog being stolen if they are tied up outside a shop, and think that fear has certainly become more of a reality in recent years. I also understand that some pubs have always been dog friendly, and that's fine too, but that doesn't mean everywhere has to also be like this! Anyway, enjoy your pets, I am sure most of them would much rather be on a romp in the park, playing with toys, or dozing on the sofa than in a busy shop!

When I was younger most people trained their dogs to poo in out of the way areas - granted, they didn't always pick it up (not ideal), but why do people think now that because they pick it up it's ok to deposit it anywhere? While leaving the poo is disgusting, a dog stopping to do a poo in front of a house, a shop, a cafe, and so on is also disgusting and smelly. I wish folk would consider where they let them poo - generally it's not a case of having to go, because a trained dog will do it's best to wait until he/she is somewhere he/she knows they are allowed to poo! People let their dogs deposit mess outside our gate too, it's so selfish!
(How many times can I say poo in one sentence? 💩)

My guess is you just don’t notice it. It’s definitely there. We travel a lot around the UK, and ‘dodge the pop’ is a reality in all urban areas.

Interested to hear why you think the poo you’re seeing is cat poo? If it’s on a pavement, in a park or suburban path or in a town centre, the odds are it’s from a dog.

Myfavouritepenguin · 05/08/2023 08:49

‘Dodge the poo’ not pop! Damn autocorrect.
