God I am bored of dogs

And they are everywhere. Obviously barking and shitting which is annoying anyway. But also running and shitting around every tiny bit of green space in cities so that no one else can use these places apart from dog owners. Even when you go to a pub or café half the time these days it's "dog friendly" (why do we all have to be fucking "friendly" btw? "Tolerant" I could at least understand). You can't escape the fucking things. At work we even have dullards cacking on about how they want "office dogs" - nightmare as far as I'm concerned and really if you're going to be accommodating people's personal life at work surely a fucking crèche would be a higher pissing priority. Pet dogs don't even do anything. They literally just exist so that people can have pet dogs. Why the fuck are they suddenly everywhere?

Took my DC to a beach last week later in the day, DD is petrified of dogs. The beach is clearly marked as no dogs but there were three fucking dogs running up to my kids and sitting on the sand. Fucksake.

My livelihood without dogs wouldn’t exist. Yes they are trained very well & no we don’t take them out to public places but they absolutely are necessary. I agree that there are too many poorly trained dogs out & about, many owners just don’t care & own dogs that aren’t fit for purpose

I love dogs, and my weekend is spent doing dog related activities with ziderdog. I still get pissed off with dog shit not picked up and out of control dogs off lead. I use longline or hire fields. I love taking ziderdog out to places but always look for outdoor seating and choose to not be near other people or dogs. We only occasionally go into a pub with her, and I look for a table hidden away. We went recently into a pub in a remote spot, the landlord 'seated' us, then 5 dogs came in too in one party and were seated near us, I could feel the anxiety in me rising, but their dogs yapped barked, mine didn't react, just went to sleep, the staff and other patrons came to make a fuss of her as she was so good and calm. She is very cute for a big dog, too.

OP - now that you mention it there are a lot more dogs about. I had never really thought about it before.

Clothed dogs, dogs in prams, dogs wearing sunglasses.

I also find that people are a bit hysterical about their dogs. Can't leave them for the day to go to work - doggy daycare and the like. You must allocate at least 2 hours a day for multiple walks - I call bollocks.

Methinks the dogs might be smarter than we give them credit for.

I like other animals. My cat is adorable. I love watching panda videos, I hate the zoo because I feel sorry for the animals caged up. It doesn't mean I like dog shit everywhere, dog hair everywhere and slobber! There are SO many dogs around nowadays!

Permitting an assistance dog is hardly the same as a free for all, where anyone can bring in their dog just because they fancy it. Assistance dogs are also highly trained.

Actually don't mind dogs in pubs. I quite like a pub that has a pub dog. It's fine for pubs, you go on a walk and stop for food and/or a pint. Just not everywhere else!

Most issues I see that people have seem to be issues with shit dog owners, not dogs themselves.

A dog taking a shit in front of you when you are minding your own business is gross, no doubt about it and the owner could have attempted to pull the dog away, and if not possible should have apologised profusely.

Equally, I've seen someone change a nappy on the floor in costa next to the tables, rather than using the bathroom. I've seen a kid shake a shit out of bottom of its shorts in a play park and his parent leave it on the floor.

I don't have problem with kids as a result, because it's the parents that are gross.

And I know dogs don't equal kid, I'm just using it as an example that it's the person in charge that's the issue, not the thing that doesn't know any better.

The vast majority of children grow into adults who contribute to society and the economy. The vast majority of dogs, with the exception of a small percentage of working and assistance dogs, are there purely for the entertainment of their owners.

They smell and regularly attack. If one touched me I would call the police as it is clearly out of control which is illegal. They are so so so terrifyingly ugly with their mouths teeth panting, I don't see anything cute just a monster that wants to eat/ kill me. I hate them so much. And I hate people who compare them to kids more, what sort of psychotic thinking leads people to those thoughts? How could anyone with any humanity think dogs are nicer than wonderful children!

It's a whole different world now for dog owning. 60 years ago a few people in a street would own a dog. The dog had freedom to roam around, but somehow stuck around the street. Was fed scraps and had no health problems, probably mixed breed and lived to be about 14. They weren't treated like 4 legged children.

Maybe because once you too were a child! It's only human children that grow into human adults. And some human adults are not at all pleasant.

Some children are not well behaved in public. Some dogs are impeccably behaved. Some people chose not to have children and don't enjoy their company, they may choose to keep a pet, perhaps a dog. This does not mean that children and dogs are interchangeable or that keeping dogs is an alternative to human reproduction. Your statement makes no sense at all.

For a lot of older and lonely people dogs are a true companion.

He is, a dog. Not a human. We treat him as such. He sits in my home office (currently cuddled up to me on the sofa) but I would not in a million years expect him to cohabit in somebody else's professional working environment/home/dinner date.
