So sad that so many people voted for Brexit to keep foreigners out. Now they have lost their freedom of movement and inflicted this on us. However those that didn’t bother to vote at all (about 12 million) are equally to blame.

"I thought we could keep the Europeans out and still be able to do whatever I wanted in their country"

😂
Pair of dummies.

I haven't got a clue as to why anyone who wanted to live abroad would vote for Brexit but clearly this couple did. Similar to the guy who grew daffodils to export abroad and then realised he had no staff to pick them and by the time the paperwork to export them had cleared the flowers had died.

Turkeys voting for Christmas really so no sympathy from me.

It's almost funny isn't it.

I'll never get over us leaving, it's diminished our country completely. I hope the Brexiteers are totally ashamed of their actions, utter morons.

Mutabiliss · 28/07/2023 20:30

Oh no what a terrible shame. Hahahaha.

What I don't understand is why I knew it would be a monumental shitshow, but we're expected to feel sorry for these poor hard done by people who didn't understand what would happen. Yes, they were taken in by the Brexit campaign... because they were really fucking stupid/greedy. I have zero sympathy. Being stupid is not an excuse.

Remember the retired Brits crying in Spanish airports saying they'd voted for Brexit because they didn't believe in freedom of movement...only to be absolutely devastated when they lost their freedom of movement?

I do blame the appalling lies of the Brexit campaign (though Leavers on here bafflingly asserted that no one believed the bus!) and I do feel sympathy that people were misled but it's immensely frustrating that we said Brexit would be a disaster, got told we were Project Fear, got gloated at 'you lost, get over it' and now it's a fucking disaster as expected so it is difficult to feel very sorry for someone who voted for all our lives to be shitter now being upset that their life has been made shitter too.

Exactly.

Snugglemonkey · 28/07/2023 20:32

Hell slap it up them. It is only a pity they fucked over everyone else while shafting themselves.

Snugglemonkey · 28/07/2023 20:34

midsomermurderess · 28/07/2023 19:23

They could do, if they went through the necessary processes, and took out health insurance. Look, people were lied to, were deceived. It's a bit graceless to gloat so.

The only people who were deceived were totally fucking stupid. The negative fallout was 100% obvious before the vote.

HaveCakeWillEat · 28/07/2023 20:39

That photo doesn't really gel with the story😂

The headline looks like they couldn't live there at all due to the misinformation. However they can still live in the villa for a good chunk of the year and may rent as holiday let for the rest till she gets her pension in 2yrs.

I'm not sure why he believed nothing would change and it's a bit rich to want to live permanently in Europe but vote to block the Europeans freedom of movement.

VeryQuaintIrene · 28/07/2023 20:40

I really don't understand the argument that people were lied to - I mean, yes, they were, but anyone with half a brain could surely have seen that no longer being part of the EU would have huge implications for people who'd got used to seamless travel/residency between the UK and mainland Europe.

TrueScrumptious · 28/07/2023 20:41

PonkyPonky · 28/07/2023 20:19

I don’t think it’s unreasonable of Italy to have minimum income requirements if people from a different country want to live there. All countries should have the freedom to do that, EU citizens or not. These people simply don’t meet the visa requirements but it sounds like they might when she gets her pension in 2 years. This isn’t technically a brexit issue, it’s more of an issue with these particular people not researching Italy’s requirements before buying property there. It’s a stupid people news story rather than a brexit one.

It is a Brexit problem, because before Brexit they didn’t need a minimum income or visa to live there. They had the right.

Yes, I gave an example above. Really does show lack of understanding of immigration and of the lengths the Tories will go to to keep us all down. As if we were going to have our wages increased massively….

PassTheSnacks · 28/07/2023 20:47

Hahaaa what a loser. My heart bleeds. 🎻

How fucking thick are these idiots? 🤣

Drenchend · 28/07/2023 20:48

An excerpt…

So he's surprised that having voted to become a citizen of a third country he is treated like a citizen of a third country. 🤦🏻‍♀️

What a muppet.

I'd love to hear his "well reasoned" explanation of why he voted how he did. 🤣🤣🤣 I presume he "knew what he was voting for", as such people stated repeatedly when the flaws in their masterplan were highlighted in advance of the vote...

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 28/07/2023 20:50

Stupid twats.

Got exactly what they voted for, they should be over the moon

ILikeDinosaurs · 28/07/2023 20:50

fireflyloo · 28/07/2023 20:51

Can't read it but they must've been living under a rock or dumb if they didn't realise the 90 day rule before they bought!

Hoppinggreen · 28/07/2023 20:52

You won Gregg, get over it

They've actually bought the place recently. So even more dim than being lied to and not realising what you were really voting for.

Lol!

How dumb can you get?

It appears he lacks the capacity.

Heatherbell1978 · 28/07/2023 20:54

FIL lives in Spain. Voted for Brexit coz 'immigrants in my country'. No words.

Spottybikehelmet · 28/07/2023 20:54

Yup, my uncle and aunt have a place in Spain and regularly complain there’s now limits on how long they can spend there. But the votes for Brexit!!!! They don’t like it when it’s pointed out they got what they wanted.
