How often do you wash your bra??

This afternoon my sister and I were chatting and this came up- she washes her bra's after every wear. I am quite the opposite... my brand's go many many wears between washes and never seem obviously dirty or have any kind of scent.

AIBU and a skanky cow or is she being a clean freak? Just wondering what the general consensus is?

Also to clarify... we had this conversation getting changed at the gym- the only exception to my rule is sports bra's which do get sweaty and are washed after every wear.

Every 3 days I genuinely don't sweat under my arms now( it all comes out through my head these days!).. post menopausal

Bluelightbaby · 28/07/2023 02:55

I wear my bras for 2-3 days then wash. I have three bras. If I had a hot sweaty day then I’d wash after

justanothermanicmonday1 · 28/07/2023 03:14

After every wear or second wear. If it's sunny or I've been sweating then definitely after every wear.

Threenow · 28/07/2023 03:24

Once a week - always have done and will continue to do so.

Yes... Next to skin means any clothes that directly touch your skin. Coats/jackets don't count, neither do shoes or waistcoats. Everything else, washed after every single wear!

Unbelievable!!! I'm not in the UK, but there are TV notifications here advising people they don't need to wash clothes after every wear - and then I read this.

sawnotseen · 28/07/2023 04:35

Two wears - obv change knickers daily, so I have at least two pairs of knickers to match every bra.

Hollyppp · 28/07/2023 05:32

5/6 wears

BadNomad · 28/07/2023 05:38

When I used to wear a bra I always washed it at the end of the day while getting ready for bed - a quick wash in the sink or shower then flung over the radiator ready for the morning. I had a very physical job, so I did sweat. Couldn't have worn it more than once without it smelling. Might have been different if I sat on my butt all day.

Desiredeffect · 28/07/2023 05:46

Hahaha looks like I am a grotbag! But unless I am working out or in a very hot climate I don't really sweat!

Knickers I do indeed wash after every wear.. but I play fast and loose with jumpers bras and jeans!

We'll be grotbags together

whispers.... We could take the moral high ground and talk about the environmental impact of using the washing machine...

Tilllly · 28/07/2023 06:16

So many posters who have matching knickers and bras...

TheCyclingGorilla · 28/07/2023 06:24

Every couple of days. I wear my clothes twice so I wear a bra twice. #grotbag Only daily if it's particularly hot & sweaty outside.

That's dedication. I am waaaay too lazy for this.

greenacrylicpaint · 28/07/2023 06:28

wearing matching pants bra every day and not only for special occasions?
Shock

renthead · 28/07/2023 06:53

5/6 wears

Same here. I buy really good quality, expensive bras, and washing them too often would significantly shorten their lifespan.

Daily is definitely not necessary in most circumstances. People on this thread would be horrified by this article!

Every time there's a lunar eclipse.

Lizardonachair · 28/07/2023 09:51

When it starts to smell!

Newshoess · 28/07/2023 09:53

A white bra does get visibly dirty though. I don't know how anyone gets a way with 5/6 wears.

I did used to wash it every solar eclipse, but it used to get a bit grimy, so I just took to washing it every lunar eclipse because it's a little bit more often.

@BettyBoopy I don't wash my bedding every day but I do have to wash it quite frequently because my DH sweats a huge amount when he's asleep. His pillow case is damp when he wakes & goes yellow in 2 days. It's disgusting!

4-5 wears?! Seriously? I always run hot, so bras get one wear, same as whatever top I've worn that day. I’m not particularly dischargey in the knicker area but of course they're one wear and in the wash. Don’t you guys get tit soup? It's July! I get that it's raining but the temps are still up. Add in any form of exercise... Does make me wonder, are you wearing expensive perfectly fitted bras as opposed to the likes of me in Primarks often ill fitted but acceptable cheap bras? So want to get more wear out them?
Maybe you've just got better temperature control. If my death certificate doesn't say spontaneous human combustion that'd be a surprise. I'm 33 Grin

I sweat when I exercise or if it's say 25c but it's currently 16c and raining here!
Primark don't do my size, neither does any high street shop and I have to have ones that fit so yeah, expensive

StolenCookie · 28/07/2023 14:26

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 28/07/2023 01:25

Even people who don't think they sweat, do sweat.

Wearing a bra over and over and over will stretch and ruin it far more than daily hand washing would.

Honestly, weeks on end??

I’d say months on end for me! I don’t care if I sweat imperceptibly onto a bra. They never smell. I only wash them because I think I probably ought to after months of wear ;)

Backtoreality1 · 28/07/2023 14:28

Probably change once a week unless colour of top dictates a change.

Tangled123 · 28/07/2023 14:29

I don’t wash my bras nearly as often as I should. I am a very awkward size and bras are expensive, so I don’t have enough of them that fit to be washing them after every wear.
