I don't know what these people think they are achieving. I think the mum was in a cab which looks like an electric car anyway, they refuse to let her get past.

I genuinely think any mother who had their child in the car (taxi in this case?) heading to hospital wouldn't just sit there and say ah well they're doing this for a good cause, anyone who does is a shit parent and talking shit. You don't know what people do to support the environment anyway, it's not as black and white to say: support these chumps otherwise you don't do anything good and you don't care about people dying of pollution.

no-one was stopping the parent from taking their child to the hospital

Sessasig · 22/07/2023 14:34

andHelenknowsimmiserablenow · 22/07/2023 14:33

@LivinDaylights
A young mom was prosecuted recently for doing that exact same thing. Nudging somebody in her car while those protesters sat in the middle of the road. She has a criminal record now and was just trying to drive her DC somewhere. I cannot understand why the police cannot just remove and arrest them each and every time.

Precisely- why aren't they doing anything? Most people who obstruct the roads and disturb traffic flow would be moved along.

NeedToBookAGetaway · 22/07/2023 14:35

I would without a doubt driven into them. No fuxks given whether i need to get to hospital with a kid or adult.

did these screaming parents care when this child died Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah?
did these parents care when 36000 others died prematurely?

suddenly they care now though...

Welk.of course they care more about their own child have you ever been in a position where your child is in urgent needs of hospital treatment?
Because I have and its fucking terrifying.

whynotwhatknot · 22/07/2023 14:38

i honestly dont get them-how is potentially letting a baby die going to help stop oil at all

a woman was arresed and charged for driving her range rover at them last year its ridiculous they get protexted like this

caringcarer · 22/07/2023 14:38

I think if my child was really and needed to go to hospital and I was driving I'd have just ploughed through them and run them over if they wouldn't move. They are a public menace. Just as Extinction Rebellion are a little bit quieter up pop JSO to cause mayhem. They should be arrested for causing public disorder.

ivykaty44 · 22/07/2023 14:39

you've been conditioned to only travel by car - that the problem

caringcarer · 22/07/2023 14:39

A few months ago they wouldn't.ove to let a man go to his Mum's funeral. He looked distraught.

RJ2023 · 22/07/2023 14:30

I can understand both sides but I always think it is a shame that there was an (unrelated) red flag on the first lap of the British Grand Prix last year.

In the absence of that red flag, the outcome of what would have happened on the Wellington straight at Silverstone on live TV in front of a global audience of millions would have put the topic to the top of the agenda for the media for several weeks and it would have led to a solution to the protests being found, instead of these annoying smoldering protests we continue to have at the moment

Can you give more information on this?

IfLoveBelievesInMe · 22/07/2023 14:40

SweetPotatoAndPeanutStew · 22/07/2023 14:28

Does anyone actually know anyone/know of anyone who is a JSO protestor?

I'm fortunate enough not to have had that experience.

Oh, of course, she should have walked, cycled or taken public transport.
Just stop it, you’re sounding very foolish now.

you think Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah didn't want her daughter to breath clean air?

Maddy70 · 22/07/2023 14:41

I dont believe a sun headline. I also know that JSO would not prevent a sick child going to hospital. If they were made aware.

you've been conditioned to only travel by car, but im the foolish one. its quicker to travel by bike taxi than it is by motorised taxi in London - but don't let fact get in the way of your poor insults

NeedToBookAGetaway · 22/07/2023 14:43

@ivykaty44 how else are they supposed to get to a&e.. Broomstick? Airplane?
These protests stop ambulances too.
I take it you've not had a sick child needing emergency care?
Or if you did, did you take a nice leisurely stroll to avoid using a car? Or be fortunate enough to live opposite a hospital

YouJustWouldntGuess · 22/07/2023 14:43

These ‘protestors’ aren’t doing it for the right reasons they are just idiots who want to break the law / inconvenience others. It’s almost a form of terrorism.

They could make their point in other ways but they want to be controversial attention seekers.

It's the quickest way to get a child to hospital. And it would be the same situation if she was in a taxi or bus. I'm a non driver and don't own a car (and I'm actually quite anti car a lot of the time) but in this situation it's understandable why someone would use a car.

I think if these protests don't stop soon someone is unfortunately going to die as they will be prevented from getting to hospital. The Police should remove them from the road they are annoying the very people they want support from! A parent will go above and beyond for their child's health god help anyone who gets in the way!!

I believe they already delayed an ambulance which resulted in a death!

do some research and find out what is the quickest way of getting around in London. if you can get your blinkers off

No I haven’t. Born and brought up in London. Never had a car for the 28 years I lived there.

Walking, cycling or using public transport to take a sick child to hospital would be dangerous and irresponsible. You are being foolish. Do you have children?

And you think a parent in panic, flooded with adrenaline, would have the headspace to cast around for a cycle taxi? And waste time doing that?

Engage your brain.

BeeHappy12 · 22/07/2023 14:46

I doubt that the baby was in an emergency because she would've stated that if it was...'my babies not breathing' 'my babies having an allergic reaction' anything other than 'i have a baby in that car'... Simply having a baby in a car is just that, a baby in a car. Perhaps she should've stopped yelling and articulated herself better if her baby required emergency care.

It's not the way I'd do things but anyone in this country has the right to protest and they're doing it in a peacefully way for a legitimate cause. I mean, teachers, nurses, doctors, railway workers, postal workers are all striking... Health professionals being forced to strike by the government is more dangerous than a peaceful protest.
