I don't know what these people think they are achieving. I think the mum was in a cab which looks like an electric car anyway, they refuse to let her get past.

Draig, so what does 'fleas need swatting' mean?

Sigmama · 24/07/2023 21:37

Dandelionburdock, yes school traffic causes alot more delays than a few slow walking protesters

You know when a fly is irritatingly buzzing around you and you swat it aside? Doesn't injure the fly does it? Not the same as lamping it against a hard surface.

Is that a reason to add another traffic jam to the existing one?

You drive - you seem to drive for pleasure - lecturing many of us on here myself included who don't drive - who don't have cars. It's classic everyone else to make changes so I can carry on doing as I please.

I drive, I don't own a car though. It's a classic you make assumptions about someone but they are incorrect as you made them up. You have no idea of the changes Ive made but decide for me, what I do or don't do including whether I drive for pleasure.

So not owing the car means what exactly - that admissions somehow don't count even when you drive for pleasure (assume that why you drive a camper van ) - but fuck people taking a taxi to get sick kids to hospital because their emission there are evil or it's an unnecessary journey.

Pretty much proves the point I was making - it's always everyone else need to change their behavior Hmm.

I regularly use public transport - we don't drive at all - it has limits and needs much more investment - sometime it can't get you where you need to go even factoring in walking long distances or biking on top, sometime it can but in an acceptable timeframe or with everything you need to take with you - that when we've used a rare taxi.

IME it's always people who drive everywhere you go on about how great public transport is - when regular experience shows it usually - outside of London - its very expensive not every extensive or joined up and sometime unreliable and usually a much longer journey time. Again none of this has anything to do with a mother tasking a baby to hospital in a taxi

The not much point saying any more - I think I shall have to do as I did with the green journalism talking about his holiday flights and moaning he couldn't cope without a car in London even though his kids were adults while lecturing everyone else about their emissions - and just stop reading.

Entitled middle class prats pulling off stunts to make money for their YT channel who have actually been praised and applauded by JSO. In their YouTube video they miss out the applause JSO gave them.

Entitled middle class prats pulling off stunts sounds exactly like JSO.

That's not what they were saying when the alarms were going off, was it? The tweet is an attempt to save face.

Worth a read for experts view on the crisis and gets away from the JSO bashing which somewhat misses the point - we are literally on fire and is mostly down to man made global warming.

They are quite rightly criticising Australias piss poor performance at cutting CO2 emissions. In 1971, the U.K. and Australia were emitting the same CO2 per capita. But while we in the U.K. took climate change seriously and invested in green technology (sharing it as well), and then by the 1990s seriously cutting our CO2 emissions, Australia prioritised profits and getting richer than us.

Now their CO2 is more than triple ours. They are pretty much where we would be if we had done little to nothing…

I’ve never driven a campervan - I’ve said previously stop making assumptions.

you literally said you don’t own a car so whatever it means to you will be your answer. What admission do you want to count doesn’t make sense.

stop assuming stuff about other people you don’t know, it’s weird

You know who makes Australia look good? The Middle East.

My God, vegans are grim!.💀

How shitty and mean. Vegans get attacked for buying avocados (as if only vegans eat them) and now a vegan cafe doesn't offer avocados, you still attack them?

For the record, I eat avocados grown in Spain. And if I was a meat eater I'd worry first about the soya beans grown in the Amazon rainforest that feed 99% of livestock in this country before criticising anything that vegans eat.

WildUnchartedWaters · 02/08/2023 01:12

@SammyScrounge could you explain why?

MichelleScarn · 24/07/2023 13:03

Agree with @WildUnchartedWaters not seeing discussion re climate change just the annoying and rage towards the tangerine nightmare!

I feel a username coming on.

@DdraigGoch I agree.

@ivykaty44 of course we can. It's common sense. I dont know anyone who looks at terrorists and thinks they do a great job and effectively that's what they are, albeit without violence. They are setting out to cause disruption and potentially harm (whatever they say about letting ambulances through, that's great until they're stuck in tail backs?) Or what Ifyou needed to attend a doctors appointment? Collect a sick child? Visit someone in hospital or a care home? One of the many valid reasons someone needs to be on time? They are causing harm. And I'm sorry, but I cant imagine anyone going 'yeah,they're doing a great job'). Youvcan agree with their cause and still think they're doing their own cause harm.
