I don't know what these people think they are achieving. I think the mum was in a cab which looks like an electric car anyway, they refuse to let her get past.

@BeeHappy12

" Of course they do, are you serious. They give hospital appointments to well babies, unwell but not urgently sick babies, all kinds of babies. For all you know, she could've had a baby in the car (as that's all she's stated) and going to the hospital to visit a friend or have a non urgent toe looked at... probably more likely than the baby required emergency care and she didn't mention
that at all. "

It doesn't matter if it was a pretend baby, that mother shouldn't have to justify herself to you/jso, or anyone else! Ever!
That child's personal medical information and data is not the business of any old lunatic in the street, it is private and no mother/other patient should have to show appointment letters in order to make progress with their journey. Are JSO the STASI now, demanding to see peoples papers?!
JSO have no legal right whatsoever, to obstruct a highway and cause any inconvenience to anyone.
And btw, no new born baby goes back to the hospital, unless there is something seriously wrong!

Which has fuck.all.to do.with these twats,preventing a mother taking her baby to.hospital🙄

Because we are in a global climate emergency that is about to effect or is affecting a lot of people at this very moment. Just because it is not happening on your door step, it doesn’t mean floods, extreme temperatures and fires aren’t taking place right this minute. Our existence is under threat. Stop being emotionally swayed by the cheap papers who are funded by big oil companies who want you to hate the environmentalists and divert your attention from the climate crises we are currently in. The story of “mum being stopped by JSO from taking her baby to hospital” is definitely a win for them as it many will sympathise as you can imagine yourself in their shoes, but it’s hard to sympathise and picture yourself in a flooded nation or in a middle of a wild fire and your home and all of the crops in the area is gone. It is too far from reality but poorly baby can’t make it to hospital hits a bad nerve in everyone! Papers know what to write! Wake up!

The report you’ve linked to doesn’t say what you claim it says though.

The JSO man has a face I'd never tire of punching. He keeps trying to change the direction of the interview to big ideas instead of the little matter of the mother and baby. He has that self satisfied, glassy eyed stare that extremists all have.
Why aren't the police doing more? They can make them exercise their right to free speech on the pavement and keep the roads clear.

x2boys · 22/07/2023 20:13

AIBot · 22/07/2023 20:06

JSO are marching to raise awareness of climate change and the key role of the oil industry. Wildfires caused by the effects of climate change are relevant. Rhodes is the latest place in a long list to be affected.

Although I could never be a protester, I’m amazed that people aren’t more worried about what’s coming, and more aware of press manipulation.

And how do.you imagine their marching and virtue signalling will.help?
Even if the UK did everything right this is a world wide problem whilst people are still jetting off on holidays several.times a year nothing will.change

N4ish · 22/07/2023 20:13

I’ve been part of quite a few protests which have sometimes involved blocking roads. The etiquette was that ambulances were always allowed to pass through, that was always completely understood by all involved.

The fact that JSO don’t follow this well established rule shows how extreme they are - I know they’re looking for attention but they really aren’t doing their cause any favours at all.

Clymene · 22/07/2023 20:13

How will making cars emit loads more emissions by travelling slowly and preventing people accessing healthcare reverse climate change @VaccineSticker?

PostItInABook · 22/07/2023 20:14

The human race needs clearing out quite frankly. We are a disgrace as a species. Climate change is a good thing for the world overall. Get rid of all of us and let the more civilised creatures take over.

PostItInABook · 22/07/2023 20:16

And let’s start by wiping out the JSO Idiots.

Given she doesn't say her baby is sick in the video, I have no idea how you can so confidently assert the baby was critically ill.

She says (as far as I can make out from the video through the car horns) "I have a newborn baby in the car..... My baby..... I'm not scared of you.... Newborn baby in the car, going to hospital".

Going to hospital could be anything from minor outpatient appointment to life or death emergency. Why are you so confident it's the latter when we have no evidence for that?

So you’re saying that the newborn baby might not have been sick enough to be allowed to see a doctor by JSO? Even though the baby was given a hospital appointment which is always for something far more serious than a visit to the GP…. So only A&E should be allowed through by JSO (according to you)?

That is so callous.

I know what's going on the world ,but im.a mum.whose desperately ill.child was blue lighted too.hospitsl.a few months ago if these twats tried to.stop.the ambulance taking my son to.hospital.and God forbid he hadn't made it I would have held them responsible ,they don't give a shit about other peoples lives .

How does any of this help climate change? What more do you personally think I can do to prevent climate change? Give me a list.

I know quite a few protesters. Mostly older people who care very strongly about the environment and are prepared to take a stand. In our town there was a slow March a month or so ago. I was interested in that the following day was the Pride parade. Both marches following the same route. Both followed the regulations and put in notification 2 weeks before. However pride was advertised by the police - it was all over social media - ‘avoid town’. Nothing was mentioned about the JSO protest and so you have furious motorists. These protests are not impromptu, they are planned and authorised, which is why the police don’t just arrest the protesters. Absolutely shocking and inhuman to not let this mother through.

Have you been living under a rock OP? Have you not seen the scenes of floods and fires on the Med, Asia and America? It’s literally on the front page of the BBC now.

We can’t carry on like this. It’s heart breaking. I do hope this woman and her child made it to hospital but the JSO have a very valid message. Don’t shoot the messenger!

Can’t carry on like this? WTF? Don’t you know that we have slashed our carbon emissions almost in HALF?! That the U.K. is in the top 3 countries in the world for meeting & progress towards their carbon reduction targets So carrying on like we have been literally = fighting climate change.

What is heartbreaking is all the heavy lifting that’s been done and is being done being erased by a bunch of middle class twats lying about nothing being done, we’re killing the planet.

TRexTara · 22/07/2023 20:23

As I said earlier, I'm poor.

I don't have a car, I never have. I rarely use cabs.

I went on a plane five years ago for a funeral, because I don't drive so couldn't take a ferry etc.

I'm poor, I but my food then either walk home or take it on the bus.

The last time I was actually in a car was two months ago.

They are achieving precisely nothing and alienating everyone to the point that no one really cares about the violence that some of them experienced.

It's fine to be appalled but you're effectively appalled by someone with a baby being delayed from getting from A to B.

JSO are similarly appalled by the governments continued dismissal of the climate change crisis.

Priorities.

JSO is lying to you. There has been no dismissal of the climate crisis for over thirty years.

I.have a friend who.regular my posts about climate change and how she's doing her bit sharing resources etc yet she's just taken a six month sabbatical.to.the Philippines with her family ,and jetted off several.Times a year to.prior to.this all whilst living in a huge property and driving a 4by4i can't take her seriously.

They are nasty people jumping on a cause, mostly champagne socialists. Hypocrites and actual scum
Putting people off the cause as well. Maybe deliberately, are they maybe funded by the oil companies if you check it out?

TRexTara · 22/07/2023 20:27

@x2boys Oh your friend is an absolute joke. Sorry. But it's true.

I just came on this thread and noticed @Tulipvase comment and was about to say about there shenanigans last weekend in grangemouth. There is a video somewhere of a woman walking down the middle of the road singing with a microphone. Then the cheeky f’ers where seen standing waiting on buses when they were leaving 🤔

See this is what I wonder. They are doing such a good, such an effective job of winding everyone up and making the UK angry, is this a conspiracy? Are the people in charge of this funded by the Oil industry or whoever?

Our existence is not under threat. You’ve been reading non peer reviewed activist written shit that has been widely debunked by actual climate scientists.

But how does the ambulance get to the front of the queue if it’s gridlock to plead with you? Even if they eventually manage to make their way there you have slowed them down and potentially killed someone.

fku · 22/07/2023 20:33

I feel like I'v entered a parallel universe where certain idiots think they can decide whether a newborn baby is ill enough to be allowed to hospital.

I'v had to take a newborn to hospital for a tongue tie appointment, to be weighed when loosing weight and for an ultrasound. None life threatening but all important with potential longer term complications if the appointment delayed.

From what I see JSO are a bunch of hypocrites, do as I say not do as I do. They're vile.
