I’m curious to hear what you named your dog, or cat (or any other pet you want to include).

and what do you think of human names for pets? I really like them, especially older people names like Mable or Frank.

Goose.

My neighbour dog is called Dave and it makes me smile every time I hear him chatting to his dog. "Good BOY Dave, what a good lad", so cute.

Dottie - very freckly springer.
Badger - Dottie’s black and white son, born with a wide white strip down his otherwise black face (now just a sliver so his name makes no sense any more).
Tash - calico cat with a black ‘tache.
Ava - black tortie cat who looks like a very ripe avocado.

Would you like to know my mothers maiden name and the street that I grew up on as well?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/07/2023 17:29

We had a Bonkers (RIP,🐶 ❤️) Lovely boy, but he was a little bit bonkers.

Oddest human name for a dog I ever heard, aeons ago, was Richard, for a neighbour’s Dalmatian. Also had a brother of that name, so it could get a bit confusing!

ChilliPixie · 18/07/2023 17:29

I know a Harry, Frank and Trevor all are border terriers , all in different families.
Hearing Trevor shouted for makes me laugh, a bit like the pp with Dave.

I acquired a cat imaginatively named “Kitty” by her 3-year old previous owner, and although I didn’t like the name, a) she knew it, it’s a very distinctive sound and b) as a horsey gal I know how unlucky it is to change a horse’s name, so assumed the same was true for cats and didn’t change it.

They usually give guide dogs human names. Once came across someone called David. His guide dog was Dave!
