Collecting what may or may not be my dog’s poo from someone’s bin?

Laboheme78 · 17/07/2023 21:12

I have dogs and always pick up their poo. I live in an area where dog poo is an issue but the bins are far apart, so occasionally if my dog does a poo I pick it up in a heavy duty poo bag, tie it and put it in someone’s black bin if they’ve left it outside.

We have a village Facebook group and I’ve just seen someone ranting about the poo bag that has been put in their bin. I suppose it does make a change from people ranting that dog poo hasn’t been picked up at all. But I honestly don’t know if it was me - I do sometimes pass that way but certainly wasn’t today. They are asking for the perpetrators (!) to come and collect the poo.

AIBU to not collect it? I have walked that way this week so it is possible it was me but I don’t know?

My bin is emptied every 3 weeks. When it is I pay someone £2 to clean it for me

there's a general waste/dog poo bin 500 yards away. Someone still decided to put their half bagged shitty poo in my clean bin even though it was placed back on the edge of my garden

take it home or put it in public bin

Zinfandelfoot · 17/07/2023 23:29

As long as it’s bagged, wouldn’t bother me. Everyone’s different though

GwinGwyn · 17/07/2023 23:30

Is it wrong that I am now reimagining song lyrics to go along with this scenario?

Badly Drawn Boy: My dog’s shit is in other’s bins. I chance a foolish grin, with my pooch’s diarrhoea dribbling down my shin.

Doesn’t scan perfectly but took my mind off other people’s bad manners for a second or two!

RWB9 · 17/07/2023 23:31

Genuinely what’s so upsetting about a poo bag in a wheelie bin?

CashmereDarling · 17/07/2023 23:32

Someone did that to my bin and absolutely stank it out! I was very resentful indeed!

So take it home please

Lavender14 · 17/07/2023 23:33

Yanbu to not go collect it - its done now but I would never do that unless I know it's bin day and they haven't been collected yet. Putting poo in someone's bin that might not get lifted for another two weeks a) will reek and b) leave them having to fish it out if they want to clean their bin for example. I have a dog btw I carry his poo bag with me until I get to a public bin or I take it home with me. Just take it as a lesson learned and don't beat yourself up about it.

ChocChipHandbag · 17/07/2023 23:35

OMG I do not own a dog and it genuinely never occurred to me that dog owners put bags of dog shit in their OWN domestic bins, never mind other people’s!

The poor bin men! I thought that there were special bins for dog mess and that they were emptied with extra biohazard precautions.

Yuck yuck yuck.

Because it can make the bin stink, even bagged, and the bag can split. And if you put it in there on either a week when that type of waste isn’t collected or else just after it’s been collected then it can hang around for weeks. Would you put any other items of your rubbish in someone else’s bin? It’s obnoxious (and frankly noxious).

ThatFraggle · 17/07/2023 22:42

Your houses smell of dog. (You think they don't, just like smokers). Your actual dog smells.

And you now want our bins to smell of summer baked turds too?

Not at all relevant, but still extremely accurate 😂

Moonface31 · 17/07/2023 23:37

This is the millionth thread on this subject. Mn is full of dog haters who are precious about their (council owned) bins. It won't end well 🙈

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/07/2023 23:39

Op certainly has people wound up and then they disappear.

Bullshit. I love dogs but where I live bin collection is a tight process due to recycling measures. We can get fined for literal shit added to bins when it's not the week to put out that type of domestic waste. Plus we pay for some collections, such as absorbent hygiene products. My dad had a hernia operation five years ago and has to pay for the council to take certain things away and the idea that some selfish idiot would just plonk their dog's waste in a bin not belonging to them just because it is at the end of someone's driveway is selfish and disgusting. Literally - sort your own shit out.

Stops unpleasant smells, maggots, feral animals etc. Particularly in the warm weather.

I clean mine once a year, if that. Food bin every time I hate bin juice lol

WhatADrabCarpet · 18/07/2023 00:02

Rude.

Your bin is for your rubbish.

Would you put your chip papers in next doors' bin? No you wouldn't.

I have a dog. I put my dog's poo in a bin that accepts dog poo else I take it home.

Non dog owners don't want dog poo smells in their bin.

Bins on streets are usually put out early for emptying the next day.
If they're left out all the time then it's because there's no room. They're not there for randoms to put their own stinky shite in.

Grow up.

fancreek · 17/07/2023 21:36

A bin is a bin is a bin.

I never understand the fuss of putting dog poo in a bin on the street!

This!

Canisaysomething · 18/07/2023 00:27

Nooooooo dog feaces don't belong anywhere near other people's property. I retch at the sight of people baging up dog poo with their hands and would be absolutely livid to find a bag of shit in my bin.

My bins aren't owned by the council. I paid for them when I moved into the house. I'm also not a dog hater. I used to have two of my own but never put their poo in the wheelie bins so definitely don't want a stranger doing it!

I believed the op only came on here for a fight, 1st post and that.

Is everyone's first post a troll post then? I mean, everyone has to have one, it's kinda unavoidable.
If she was looking for a fight she didn't stay around to join in and enjoy it did she?
Don't be ridiculous

Think OP is shit stirring, never come back since.

Would you?

She's probably bloody terrified of being mauled to death by a county full of dog haters.
