Collecting what may or may not be my dog’s poo from someone’s bin?

I have dogs and always pick up their poo. I live in an area where dog poo is an issue but the bins are far apart, so occasionally if my dog does a poo I pick it up in a heavy duty poo bag, tie it and put it in someone’s black bin if they’ve left it outside.

We have a village Facebook group and I’ve just seen someone ranting about the poo bag that has been put in their bin. I suppose it does make a change from people ranting that dog poo hasn’t been picked up at all. But I honestly don’t know if it was me - I do sometimes pass that way but certainly wasn’t today. They are asking for the perpetrators (!) to come and collect the poo.

AIBU to not collect it? I have walked that way this week so it is possible it was me but I don’t know?

Not thinking of Viz and the Bottle Inspectors, no, not thinking of that at all. Oh lordy!

CampsieGlamper · 19/07/2023 08:29

Bottom inspectors, not bottle !

This must be a wind up ! See that Op hasn’t returned to see they’re being completely unreasonable.

Anyotherdude · 19/07/2023 08:36

Bagged dog poo belongs in appropriate bins. Domestic waste bins are not appropriate.
Other people’s domestic waste bins? Seriously?
You, OP, are a CF and not a responsible dog owner. It’s people like you that give dog owners a bad name.
IMO, you should be banned from being allowed to have pets altogether: people who don’t understand that they, and only they, are responsible for their dog’s behaviour and waste disposal are some of the worst banes of society.

I've been saying it all along.

Yes quite right, I'll teleport to somewhere suitable in future so as to avoid the pavements between my home and the open fields and rolling shire. Thankyou for this most practical suggestion, I don't know why I never thought of it before.

I said you need better bags. The fact that you found this such an outlandish suggestion shows you up for what you are - a typical entitled dog owner.

I'd be willing to bet you have it off lead as much as possible.

It’s really not that hard to clean a wheelie bin and they should be cleaned regularly.

If your bin is so clean and then suddenly dog poop is a huge issue I think you need to think about how clean your bin actually was in the first place”

Twaddle. Our bins rarely need cleaning as all waste has to be bagged.

Stop being an entitled slob and take your dog crap home.

If carrying shit is too much for you, maybe don’t walk dogs in the “rolling shire”

The excuses for being an anti-social slob on this thread are truly pathetic.

sunglassesonthetable · 19/07/2023 10:27

I didn't say that 😁

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/07/2023 19:24

Yeah, I let them hurtle about the roads willynilly, they love a game of chicken with the buses and some barking at old ladies, they go down like skittles.

I'd love a link to poobags that are bramble proof when squashed by a heavy wheelchair, I've yet to find any and of course, the tougher ones are not biodegradable (but why would I worry about that I am so entitled, I'll fill up allllllll the landfill with my poobags, three per poo to ensure they never rot away!)...

Anyway, any more stretches and reaches you want to make, my dogs are of course all XL Bullies with dismembered body parts hanging out of their slathering maws and I am a lazy slob who does nothing but shovel food all day....

Oh don't be such a strop arse.

Double bag them . Or chuck them in a carrier bag.

sunglassesonthetable · 19/07/2023 19:29

God alive @WiddlinDiddlin people don't have to agree with you.

yogasaurus · 19/07/2023 19:36

And hold on to your own shit, don’t hang it where it gets squashed and ripped.

waterst · 19/07/2023 19:54

@WiddlinDiddlin is there a reason why you can't put your poo bags inside another bag, to protect them from all the brambles and other bag splitting hazards on your way home?

Your justifications for putting your animal's shit inside a stranger's bin are as flimsy as your poo bags apparently are.

sunglassesonthetable · 19/07/2023 20:00

My biodegradable poo bags work just fine. They're on Amazon.

my parents doesn't have any animals, a few months ago their weekly recycling collection was not emptied due to a bag of poo on top an a half eaten kebab. neither was theirs.
it was put out 11pm the night before and bin collection is usually 6-9am

there was a sticker put on with a tick section and comments (major bug bear to villagers around here, everyone's moaning about them)that the bin men fill in with a black sharpie saying why bins not been collected, they then go back tell the council on you and days later council send you a telling off letter saying 2 or more stickers in 1 year and you go on a black list

parents had said letter and a pack with right things to put in what bins posters saying the same(what a waste of time and money)within a few days

she rang up the same day of refused collection and explained but they didn't care she just got told off and repeated what the letters say.

even when told neither was hers so the next week she put out 4 black bin bags as bin was already to the top as they don't drive so couldn't get to a tip so a full bin was sat there(FYI kebab and poop bag was put in bin bags)

waited for bin men to turn up, they took the bin but not the bags as they don't take black bags so my mother called them over explained why she's using black bags and at first they refused but after her kicking off they took them with a grudge. she bought a bin lock off amazon the same day

same day of 2nd collection dad wrote a complaint email to the council about their stupid sticker black list scheme and 2 days later they got a letter saying what ever bad sticker list they were on has not been taken off.

he waited to see if they would take bin and black bags before sending the email as if they didn't he was complaining more.

no idea who did it as they are on the corner of a field so any dog walker really, it hasn't happened again due to said lock but a few weeks later a neighbour 4 doors up had said sticker and low and behold it was poop in the same scented pink bag that my parents had so its got to be a regular dog walker walking past dumping in random bins not getting its causing consequences to innocent people

so to you bin borrowers yes it does affect said house, you might think your doing your part but when strangers are not getting their full weekly bin collected because of you and arsey mail from the council and being put on a black list its not on.

i dont put it in my own bin so wouldnt be happy if i went out and someone else did. ive enver had it but i bough the same lock

CasperGutman · 19/07/2023 20:17

It would annoy me if someone left dog poo in my bin. I suppose it's better than when their cats crap all over the garden though. When that happens I have to supply my own bag and pick it up myself; it still ends up in my bin!

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 20/07/2023 03:23

Wow, @BOYBANDLOVER

That just enrages me on your parents' behalf!

Can they get one of those battery operated spy cams to try to identify the culprit??

SingingNettles · 20/07/2023 03:55

While we’re on topic, wtf is up with people hanging bags of dog shit on trees? See if constantly. I think I’d rather they left it on the floor tbh.

Cracklecrack · 20/07/2023 09:37

Surely put it in a public bin not someone’s personal bin

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/07/2023 10:53

No need to squash them. Keep them in a carrier bag on your lap until you get to a dog bin or home.
