Collecting what may or may not be my dog’s poo from someone’s bin?

Laboheme78 · 17/07/2023 21:12

I have dogs and always pick up their poo. I live in an area where dog poo is an issue but the bins are far apart, so occasionally if my dog does a poo I pick it up in a heavy duty poo bag, tie it and put it in someone’s black bin if they’ve left it outside.

We have a village Facebook group and I’ve just seen someone ranting about the poo bag that has been put in their bin. I suppose it does make a change from people ranting that dog poo hasn’t been picked up at all. But I honestly don’t know if it was me - I do sometimes pass that way but certainly wasn’t today. They are asking for the perpetrators (!) to come and collect the poo.

AIBU to not collect it? I have walked that way this week so it is possible it was me but I don’t know?

Yabu and a CF. Take your poo home and out it in your bin.

fancreek · 17/07/2023 21:36

A bin is a bin is a bin.

I never understand the fuss of putting dog poo in a bin on the street!

Desdemonadryeyes · 17/07/2023 21:37

Gives me the rage.

I don’t put my own dog shit in my bin until collection day.

I have a huge black bin liner in my bin so there is no bin juice. On collections day some idle fucker pops their shit bag in when the bin is empty. There’s a proper bin round the corner. I tip it out and leave it on the street.

Take your dog shit home.

Pufflebow · 17/07/2023 21:37

I dont put dog poo in other peoples bins. But I’m surprised people would be revolted. If someone put their dogs poo in my bin I wouldn’t notice. It’s just filled with gross rotting things and my own dogs poo? Are other peoples bins not filled with garbage?

dont collect the poo but don’t do it again I’d say

TheLifeofMe · 17/07/2023 21:37

Wow the comments on here. The dog poo is in a bag and tied. It isn't loose in the bin. Ffs guys. It's better to be in a bin than left on the street 😂 I have no issue with this at all and people have put their dog poo in my bin before. Get a grip folks. It's an outside bin that is mean for rubbish. You would complain more if the poo was on the pavement outside your drive.

Firefinch · 17/07/2023 21:38

A bin is not a bin because it's not YOUR bin. Why should I have to deal with someones disgusting dog shit poo bag in my bin? Take it home, don't be so lazy

Namechanger1002 · 17/07/2023 21:39

Am I the only one to not care about this? Dog owners please feel free to put your bagged up poo in my bin - it really doesn’t bother me

LadyWiddiothethird · 17/07/2023 21:40

Revolting!! Who uses other peoples bins! Take it home and dispose of it yourself.I have a dog and wouldn’t dream of doing this.

Dacadactyl · 17/07/2023 21:41

Bloody dog owners at it again 🙄

We don't want your dog's shit in our bins. Take it home and put it in your own bin. FFS.

WaspLady · 17/07/2023 21:42

It’s not okay to do this! I have 2 dog and my bin is always full of poo bags but I would still be kind of put out if someone used it without asking and I would never do it!

Get a Dookey or similar and carry it home to your own bin in future!

JustMint · 17/07/2023 21:43

Wondering how many of these people cope with other people’s cats pooping in their gardens repeatedly…

I very rarely have this issue. And to me anyway, cat poo is less rank than dog poo.

I don't like dogs or cats, so it's not that I prefer one animal to the other either.

vivaespanaole · 17/07/2023 21:45

If i put my bin out to be emptied once a fortnight at the peak of the summer heat and someone put dog shit in it that was then going to bake in their and make me gag every time i opened it for the next two weeks until it was emptied again id be furious.

If you are used to your bin being full of shit i get that its hard to understand. But when you are used to a shit free bin-why would you want someone elses in there.

It parents put dirty nappies in random peoples bins when out for a walk they would be called entitled.

I HATE it when people do this. I think it's really rude and lazy. I put a message on my local FB group as someone had put two bags in my empty and CLEAN bin and as I didn't know I threw something heavy on and burst the bag. It was splatted on the inside of the bins. Unfortunately it was particularly rank smelling. I was fuming.

My FB massage was very polite but I did mention I'd put a CCTV camera on the bins 😂😂

lovelifeat40 · 17/07/2023 21:50

Ohhh, gawwwwd, of course you are fine using some lazy fucker's bin, I am a dog sitter and wouldn't give shit (excuse the pun) if you used my black bin (that is owned by the council, BTW) to drop a bagged dog shit. Get a grip MN!!!! a bin is a bin!!!!

Hawkins0001 · 17/07/2023 21:50

@Laboheme78 it could be anyone's

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/07/2023 21:52

Not poop bingate again

Louise295 · 17/07/2023 21:53

I'd rather someone put bagged dog poo in my bin than left it on the street.

kayserah · 17/07/2023 21:54

Nah, that’s awful. It will make their bin stink. CF

Desdemonadryeyes · 17/07/2023 21:56

@lovelifeat40 what do you mean ‘some lazy fucker’s bin?’ The lazy fucker is the one who doesn’t take it home or to a council bin

MangoItaliano · 17/07/2023 21:57

If it helps, OP - if you see my bin out for collection, you are welcome to drop a bagged poo in it.

Really won't phase me.

Well yeah but it isn't an 'either or' situation.

immergeradeaus · 17/07/2023 22:02

Our bins are collected fortnightly. In very hot weather, a dog walker dropped a pop bag into our bin, where it split and and stank. It was vile, and hugely unpleasant to have to clean the bin.

I emailed my neighbourhood but still found poo bags in my bin a few times, until I put signs up, and eventually moved my bins so they weren’t visible from the road.

Dumbphone · 17/07/2023 22:02

These horrible dog threads call to me, I’m always aghast at new and unpleasant ways dog owners can ruin civilised society for the rest of us. This appallingly behaved OP has run for the hills having learned she’s an absolute piss-take, but maybe she’ll learn not to be so grim in future and look after her own doggie detritus until she gets back to her own poo-filled bins at home in the dog house. Any other dog owners out there take note - if I catch a dog walker using my bin for their canine turd I’m going to give you a very loud piece of my mind and insist you pick it back out.

the lazy fuckers who can't be arsed to put their black bin on their driveway, for example, need more explanation?
