Collecting what may or may not be my dog’s poo from someone’s bin?

Laboheme78 · 17/07/2023 21:12

I have dogs and always pick up their poo. I live in an area where dog poo is an issue but the bins are far apart, so occasionally if my dog does a poo I pick it up in a heavy duty poo bag, tie it and put it in someone’s black bin if they’ve left it outside.

We have a village Facebook group and I’ve just seen someone ranting about the poo bag that has been put in their bin. I suppose it does make a change from people ranting that dog poo hasn’t been picked up at all. But I honestly don’t know if it was me - I do sometimes pass that way but certainly wasn’t today. They are asking for the perpetrators (!) to come and collect the poo.

AIBU to not collect it? I have walked that way this week so it is possible it was me but I don’t know?

Exactly this!

It’s not an either/or situation, though, is it?!
I don’t want someone else’s dog shit in my bin, bagged or not. And no, I don’t want it on the pavement either but those aren’t the only options. If you own a dog, you are responsible for its shit. Pick it up, take it home and put it in your own fucking bin. The entitlement of some of the posters on this thread is breathtaking. If you don’t want to carry your dog’s shit home with you from a walk, don’t own a fucking dog.

I believed the op only came on here for a fight, 1st post and that.

Gives me the rage.

I don’t put my own dog shit in my bin until collection day.

I have a huge black bin liner in my bin so there is no bin juice. On collections day some idle fucker pops their shit bag in when the bin is empty. There’s a proper bin round the corner. I tip it out and leave it on the street.

Take your dog shit home.

What do you do with it until collection day?!

And you seriously think it’s ok to leave dog shit in the street? 🤢

EvilElsa · 17/07/2023 22:35

I've had dogs for years and I've never once put my dogs shit in someone's bin. Just carry it until you get to a dog poo bin. That's part of dog ownership.
Some fucking dirty pig tried putting his dog shit bag in our RECYCLE bin at work. Luckily business partner was walking past at that moment and ripped him to shreds and made him take it out.
People shouldn't have to put signs on their own bins telling people not to fill them with bagged dog shit. Grim.

aSpanielintheworks · 17/07/2023 22:38

I would walk 3 miles with dog poo bag in my hand to find a dog bin than put it in someone's household grey bin - sorry!

Desdemonadryeyes · 17/07/2023 22:38

@swimminginthesun

I keep it in a plastic tray at the back of my garden until bin collection day.

And yes I’m happy to tip the offending Pooh bag out of my bin. The dog Walker is presumably local and can pick it up themselves. I’m not their skivvy.

A bin is a bin is a bin.

I never understand the fuss of putting dog poo in a bin on the street!

Well now you know by reading all these replies!

ThatFraggle · 17/07/2023 22:42

Your houses smell of dog. (You think they don't, just like smokers). Your actual dog smells.

And you now want our bins to smell of summer baked turds too?

lovelifeat40 · 17/07/2023 21:50

Ohhh, gawwwwd, of course you are fine using some lazy fucker's bin, I am a dog sitter and wouldn't give shit (excuse the pun) if you used my black bin (that is owned by the council, BTW) to drop a bagged dog shit. Get a grip MN!!!! a bin is a bin!!!!

I'm lazy for leaving my bin out for collection? Well, that's a new one 😆
Sounds to me like you're the lazy fucker if you can't be arsed to carry the stinking bag o shite home.

Clymene · 17/07/2023 22:03

I carry my dog's poo for miles sometimes. Like 5-10 miles. I can't believe it's too much like hard work to carry it round the village

I'm the same

CarPour · 17/07/2023 22:45

I can't believe we have to have a thread to tell people not to put their dog shit in someone else's bin FFS.

Carry your dog shit to a dogshit appropriate bin. It's not like it's a surprise a dog taking a shit

lovelifeat40 · 17/07/2023 22:45

Typical of not actually reading, or understanding, or being thick on purpose, or maybe not even!!!! never mind love!

fancreek · 17/07/2023 22:51

Nope @KissyMissy, still don't understand it I'm afraid!

Whatkindofuckeryisthis · 17/07/2023 22:05

You're asking in the wrong place! Mumsnet get very upset about bagged poo being put in a bin! It’s a bin ffs… for rubbish.. not to eat out of.
I would say ignore it… unless you’re on CCTV and they’re wanting to make a massive thing out of it, just ignore it and don’t do it again!!

@Whatkindofuckeryisthis I'm guessing you haven't had a split bag in your bin?

hulahooper2 · 17/07/2023 23:07

I have a dog , I use a public bin - as I dont want mine to stink - or resort to takingit home , I would never dream of putting it in someone else’s bin , and would be really annoyed if anyone used mine

GwinGwyn · 17/07/2023 23:07

According to your logic my mum could put her cat’s litter tray contents in the neighbour’s bin because a bin is a bin? It’s your pet’s mess, so dispose of it in your bin or a designated council bin. Not least because where we live you can only put out animal doings in your domestic rubbish one week in three.

timetorefresh · 17/07/2023 23:10

I do not own a dog. I don't want dog shit in my bin. Take it with you

Rollmelikesushi · 17/07/2023 23:12

Take your dog crap home, don’t leave it in someone else’s bin ffs! I’d be bloody furious having to clean someone else’s dog crap out of my bin because they couldn’t be arsed to just take it home.

zurala · 17/07/2023 23:12

Dog owners really are the most grim and entitled people. Take your dog shit home with you and put it in your own bin. Normal people don't put shit in bins. Vile.

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/07/2023 23:12

Think OP is shit stirring, never come back since.

thebestyoucanhopefor · 17/07/2023 23:18

I'd be furious if someone put dog poo in my bin.

Bloody cheek!

More the shit is in the wind and they are thinking oh pickles

Jobreveal · 17/07/2023 23:19

I would be furious if someone put their dog poo in my bin. You don't use someone else's property without asking so don't touch my bin!

SplitLevel · 17/07/2023 23:22

Fuck no.
