Collecting what may or may not be my dog’s poo from someone’s bin?

Laboheme78 · 17/07/2023 21:12

I have dogs and always pick up their poo. I live in an area where dog poo is an issue but the bins are far apart, so occasionally if my dog does a poo I pick it up in a heavy duty poo bag, tie it and put it in someone’s black bin if they’ve left it outside.

We have a village Facebook group and I’ve just seen someone ranting about the poo bag that has been put in their bin. I suppose it does make a change from people ranting that dog poo hasn’t been picked up at all. But I honestly don’t know if it was me - I do sometimes pass that way but certainly wasn’t today. They are asking for the perpetrators (!) to come and collect the poo.

AIBU to not collect it? I have walked that way this week so it is possible it was me but I don’t know?

I have dogs. Wouldn’t dream of using someone’s bin. Would find a pubic bin or take home.

Clymene · 17/07/2023 22:03

I carry my dog's poo for miles sometimes. Like 5-10 miles. I can't believe it's too much like hard work to carry it round the village

If it helps, OP - if you see my bin out for collection, you are welcome to drop a bagged poo in it.

Really won't phase me.

Stick a little sign saying ‘dog poo welcome in this bin’ if you like, having had a neatly packaged present (in kitchen towel) of dog crap in my food waste bin, I don’t feel the same.

Whatkindofuckeryisthis · 17/07/2023 22:05

You're asking in the wrong place! Mumsnet get very upset about bagged poo being put in a bin! It’s a bin ffs… for rubbish.. not to eat out of.
I would say ignore it… unless you’re on CCTV and they’re wanting to make a massive thing out of it, just ignore it and don’t do it again!!

Desdemonadryeyes · 17/07/2023 22:05

@lovelifeat40

My bin is emptied at 7am. I bring it in about 8.30am. That’s 1.5 hours but still time for some lazy fucker dog Walker to chuck a bagged turd in.

Louise295 · 17/07/2023 21:53

I'd rather someone put bagged dog poo in my bin than left it on the street.

Or how about they just take it home and stick it in their own bin?

Justme10 · 17/07/2023 22:06

Don't collect it but don't do it again.

I wouldn't be happy for someone to put their dog shit in my bin. They get emptied every three weeks and if its out it means its just been emptied. 🤢

FrazzledHippy · 17/07/2023 22:06

Honestly, I can see why someone would be annoyed about this. No matter what bag it's in (especially in the heat) there's always a whiff of shit in a bin with some form of shit in it.

I have cats and even though their litter tray contents are triple bagged - nappy bag for poo, tesco bag for litter then all into a black bag - I can still smell it.

I'd be really annoyed if someone put dog shit in my bin and it had to be left there smelling for two weeks.

I'd either take it home with you, put it in a council street bin or in a dog poo bin.

DuckIings · 17/07/2023 22:08

I had someone pull my bin out of its cupboard, and put an unbagged dog shit in it. The dog poo bin was not even far away. Rank.

Even bagged is rank. Walk your dog and his poo home. I do pity dog owners carrying plastic bags of shit around. Look ridiculous.

Clymene · 17/07/2023 22:10

My bin has to be out early morning. I don't get home until 8pm some days. That doesn't mean my bin is a public bin until I bring it back in.

It's just rude.

dancinfeet · 17/07/2023 22:11

someone put dog poo in my bin before it was emptied and it fell to the bottom of the bin, bag split and shit everywhere in the bottom of my bin. stank too as it was on a hot day. take your shit home and put it in your own bin

lovelifeat40 · 17/07/2023 22:02

the lazy fuckers who can't be arsed to put their black bin on their driveway, for example, need more explanation?
Just checking!

You might sit on your arse all day watching Jeremy Kyle and waiting for the binmen, but some of us go out and work - so the bin isn't out all day by choice.

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/07/2023 22:13

🤔Jeremy Kyle, have we gone back in time.

1stepforward2stepsback · 17/07/2023 22:14

Yea, it’s gross, don’t do it in future, for all of the reasons stated in previous comments. But don’t go routing through a stranger’s bin for a mystery poo bag. That’s just weird.

Don’t respond to the Facebook post either. Just keep your head down and use your own bin from now on.

KarmaStar · 17/07/2023 22:15

Yabu please don't use other people's bins for your poo! Just take it home.Contact council ask for more bins for dog poo.

lovelifeat40 · 17/07/2023 22:15

Ohhh, touched a nerve, have I!!! I have worked all my adult life, and no, never contemplated watching daytime TV, but that's another debate, that I am not contemplating having with you. Have a nice life 😂

Furnitureelf · 17/07/2023 22:17

I cannot believe how bothered people are by this, I don't even like dogs but seriously id rather my bin than the pavement

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep · 17/07/2023 22:17

TheLifeofMe · 17/07/2023 21:37

Wow the comments on here. The dog poo is in a bag and tied. It isn't loose in the bin. Ffs guys. It's better to be in a bin than left on the street 😂 I have no issue with this at all and people have put their dog poo in my bin before. Get a grip folks. It's an outside bin that is mean for rubbish. You would complain more if the poo was on the pavement outside your drive.

Exactly this!

You have obviously never had to clean someone else's dog shit out of your bin then.

Jerry Springer is better

Ponderingwindow · 17/07/2023 22:20

Even if it isn’t yours, picking it up would be justified penance for all the times you have left excrement in someone’s bin to fester and smell.

80sMum · 17/07/2023 22:25

YABU.
Firstly, don't use other people's domestic waste bins for disposing of your animal's excrement and secondly, don't assume that a black bin is a general waste bin. In my area, the black bins are for recyclable materials only.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 17/07/2023 22:25

Someone put a shitty dog poo bag in my bin when it was empty. Didn't realise till next bin day when the stench became intolerable. I had to get someone out to clean the bin as at the time I lived in a house with no outside tap or hose,

Please don't do that again.

HRTQueen · 17/07/2023 22:28

Double bag it and carry it

nat as bad as the poster (s) who leave it under a hedge and pick it up off their way home 🙄 but still revolting the smell seeps through those bags
