To ask what the rudest thing your child has said to you in a melt down?

Tonight my very hormonal, 12 year old, pre teen told me to “shove off” when I made a joke about her playing with Lego instead of tidying her room. Quickly followed up with “you ruin everything”. It took me back a bit to be honest. It was completely out of character. It got me wondering 2 things:

  1. is this normal teenage behaviour? Or is my child suddenly going off the rails?

  2. what’s the worst thing your child has said in a rage.

I am questioning the morals of the person that said “the world doesn’t revolve around autistic children” that comment was spiteful and completely unnecessary.

I also do not understand why parents of NT children are being so touchy about the use of the word meltdown.

Well I'm not the one who said that so that's nothing to do with me.

It's an utterly vile opinion to say that the word meltdown has always been commonly used??

or not to turn it into a moral thing?

WTF

Both.

I'm not sure if it's the rudest, but definitely the most memorable - DS, aged about 6, storming off after a bedtime argument: 'FINE, I'll go then, you ungrateful egg!' 😂

JMSA · 23/07/2023 19:23

"Fine then, I'll just ask dad" (ex husband) 🤛

AnxiousPixie · 23/07/2023 19:30

My five year old has chased me through the house to shout at me that I'm a twat and that she hates me. (We are trying to deal with some behavioural issues). Feels great. Not.

YallaYallaaa · 17/07/2023 20:28

Oh @StJulian2023 Im sorry to hear that. DSIL recently died and poor DBIL is getting lots of ‘why didn’t you die instead of mummy’ from his 5yo. It’s heartbreaking.

That is really really heartbreaking.

IncompleteSenten · 23/07/2023 19:35

My 22 year old most recently (few weeks back) called me a fucking cunt and punched me in the head leaving me with concussion then later grabbed me into a painful hug and whispered in my ear that he has an overwhelming urge to kill everyone.

(He has autism, ADHD and mental health problems)

When he was 3, DS called me ‘foolish and deluded’, which I didn’t see coming!

😂I think that would get to me more than any of the others on here, honestly! Priceless!

OprahWinfery · 23/07/2023 19:37

My eldest called me a peasant once! And I burst out laughing because I knew he tried to get the worst possible thing he could say. It was since he studied the Tudors at school. He is not good with curse words still.

PoshPineapple · 23/07/2023 19:49

@queenofthewild

"Where's mummy? Is she dead?"

Followed with a look of disappointment when I walked into the room.

This wins it 😂

Imlosingthewill · 23/07/2023 19:52

‘You middle aged woman’ from my DD7. (I’m 26) 😬

cbacbacba · 23/07/2023 19:55

It's all downhill from "poo-poo head" onwards.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/07/2023 19:56

He;s 23 now but when he was about 3yo he calmly patted me on the back and moved away stating " That's enough , I;m through hugging you now"

I like to remind him now how that remark cut me to the quick and though I got over it , I was never the same again.

Last week my 4 year old said 'I don't even want a mum, I just want a dad like Nemo' because I told him it was tome for a bath.

I thought, great... he'd blimmin loose you too anyway 😂was feeling petty

Oh , didn't read the OP properly . Not a situation involving meltdown or heightened emotion here .

My 7 year old is very dramatic but also has a hot jealous streak. We’ve had lots over the years but the one that upset me the most was when she was 3. She looked at me in the most deadpan way said about her baby sister “ you’ve ruined my life. I wish she’d never been born. I hate you and I hate this family and I’d be better off on my own.”

It was absolutely cutting and upset both me and my husband as we were out at the park at the time. We also couldn’t believe it had come out of the mouth of a 3 year old. We ended up going straight home.

MummyJ36 · 23/07/2023 20:04

My then 4 year old when through a consistent “I hate you” phase after her younger sibling was born. Understandable but it felt so incredibly brutal at the time. I was trying to hard to keep it together and being constantly told that she hated me slowly broke my spirit !!!

Bedbouncer · 23/07/2023 20:05

My middle DS once stormed off to his room (aged about 8 I think, he's in his 30s now :), then opened the door and shouted downstairs "I hate you!" and slammed the door shut again. Re-opened the door for, "I wish I was never born!" Slam! And then the final, "And I wish YOU were a bit thinner!". Which I thought was very sweet really - he couldn't quite bring himself to call me fat (which I definitely was BTW).

SchoolShenanigans · 23/07/2023 20:13

ZiggZagg · 17/07/2023 19:53

My 5 year old (suspected ASD/ADHD) usually says I'm fat, no one likes me and one time, after making me cry said go on cry, no one cares, he also called me a shit mum 😭

I'm not trying to judge, but why does your child know those words? I have similar aged children and they wouldn't even know the word shit, let alone be able to use it in context.

There seems to be a lot of children with ASD calling their parents extreme names, is this linked to ASD or a coincidence? Do you still give consequences for this?

Tothemoonandbackx · 23/07/2023 20:14

'You're not my best friend anymore!!!'.......After not letting her have her own way tornadoing through the house pulling EVERY toy in existence out and she also told me to 'Shut up' after I had to explain to her why she can't run off and try and hide in the supermarket as it was dangerous.....she's 4!!!! Not horrendously rude, but not very pleasant to hear x
