To think Rupert Murdoch should burn in the fires of hell

Honestly, he’s evil. The Sun & all his press is the absolute worst of the worst.

The mostly fabricated story about Huw Edwards was likely timed to cover up tory scandal, bring down the bbc.

Boris Johnson STILL has defied a court order & not handed in his phone. This should be the main headline- not destroying a man for his sexual preferences (which weren’t deemed illegal activity anyway)

Murdoch is absolute scum. The most morally empty vile arsehole.

Why should Huw get away with it but according to you Tories shouldn’t?

He’s a newsreader. He’s not making the laws of the country.

mrwalkensir · 12/07/2023 21:06

Remembering the good old days when the Sun would pose a topless 16 year old the minute her birthday happened.

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 21:07

@mrwalkensir EXACTLY

The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Edwards is a sleaze and the youth of the people he bought photos from makes him sleazier than if it was just random older adults. Any issue I have with his behaviour isn't because he's some father of the nation cheating on his wife and is because he's been paying 17yr olds for sexual services. That's not okay and he shouldn't be allowed such a platform if he's done this.

BUT I agree that the story has been hammered as a smoke screen for the fact Johnson won't hand over his phone. Which I hope the enquiry do eventually make him do, via the courts if necessary. The man is a menace and genuinely seems to think he's above the law.

And yes of course, Johnson is a much worse man than Edwards. And The Sun is attempting to bring down the BBC for genuinely evil reasons. But now the Edwards story is out there and it can't be ignored because he has done a shitty thing.

Oh yea and the Sun put Sam Fox on their topless when she was 16. Oh and did a countdown of Charlotte Church becoming legally able to have sex too.

Hardly got the moral high ground.

The Sun did not do a Charlotte Church countdown clock

LizzieSiddal · 12/07/2023 21:12

I agree with you very much.

Boris Johnson is a a well known liar who The Sun and Murdoch sold to the hard of thinking, as a suitable PM for this country. He fucked this country totally yet people still don’t get the connection. If Murdoch had his papers tell the whole truth about Johnson he wouldn’t have got anywhere near PM.

Murdoch basically decided who will be your PM. Wake up people!!

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 21:16

@WhisperingAutistic oh well that’s ok then. That’s one tiny less immoral thing Murdoch did in a great big long list of truly appalling behaviour

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 20:53

@AbraKedavra that’s literally not the point. There is a court order stating Boris needs to hand in his phone to the covid enquiry. He’s hasn’t because he thinks he’s above the law. Everything he touches is full of lies and corruption. It’s literally not Tin foil territory- it’s fact. And HE brought in the covid laws and then broke them when he was the actual prime minister.

Please spare me the Boris defence.

It's tinfoil hat to believe the entire Huw story was manufactured and peddled to distract from Boris.

The Huw story was classic Sun, and they would have run the story regardless of what Boris is up to or not.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 12/07/2023 21:20

@IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook

I won't quote you a it contains a potentially libellous remark.

You do understand you could be sued?

Mumsnet is not an anonymous forum

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 21:21

@AbraKedavra my point is I don’t really care that much about the Huw story - although it’s dreadful that he’s had a breakdown as a result.

I do care about the impact of Murdoch and his disgusting rag on individuals and on society too. He’s just toxic and his papers are toxic and represent the worst of this country.

AbraKedavra

FFS- the latest Johnson issue is about handing his phone in to the Covid inquiry. It's to do with the response to the pandemic.

So what? I'm not defending Boris, I just cba to care. What he did or didn't is quite irrelevant now, and has zero impact on the country or any state of affairs.

It's not even a crime against humanity, in which case there is always a point in prosecuting, as we want to balance out society. We know Boris is contemptuous of the law, this whole palaver is just to determine exactly how contemptuous. Who cares? What difference does it make?

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 21:22

@VeniVidiWeeWee eh? It’s an anonymous forum. Stop threatening posters.

Justcallmebebes · 12/07/2023 20:17

Murdoch is a press baron who weilds a lot of power. That's what media tycoons do. Control and manipulative the narrative.

You're BU to be so dramatic about it

They control a lot more than the narrative. Murdoch wants the BBC privatised, he said so (reported by Rachel Johnson). Sun attacks BBC, helpfully distracting form Murdoch protegée's lawbreaking anti-democratic behaviour again.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 12/07/2023 21:29

I'm not threatening anyone.
Merely pointing out that people posting libellous remarks could be sued and Mumsnet would be required to help identify the poster.

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 21:30

@VeniVidiWeeWee have you actually ever been on mumsnet before?

Of course he will be judged. If papers didn’t report on celebs/famous people, they wouldn’t fill more than a couple of pages. Fame comes with its pros and cons. One of the cons being that your life will be reported on, because like it or not, a lot of people are interested in what’s going on in the lives of those who are on our TV screens. So yes, I will judge someone who i’ve seen on my tv for decades who has always come across as respectable and decent, but now it seems has a very skewed moral compass.

But why are you so invested in their lives? They are there to do a job, well paid, but it’s a job. Why do you give a shit what they do behind closed doors unless it’s illegal?

I’d be more than happy for the papers to only be 2 pages of genuine news rather than 50 pages full tattle, speculation, culture wars, muck raking and faux outrage to be honest.

Laughingstock1991 · 12/07/2023 21:48

@VeniVidiWeeWee if mumsnet are concerned, they will delete the thread!

@VeniVidiWeeWee and if you are concerned, feel free to report!

Totally agree with you. The 'victim' wasn't a victim, the police aren't taking action. It's all to deflect attention from lying scumbag 'Boris' Johnson.
It wasn't so long ago that the Scum was publishing photos on topless teenagers on page 3 every day and somehow now it's got the moral high ground? Piss off.
