I'm honestly really shocked, also must be living in a hole! Are the people he's paid for pictures etc female or male do we know? Not that it matters/changes things either day.

Exactly. I don’t think any us could have lived through what he has this last week and not have our mental health seriously effected.

I’m not excusing what he did but this has been a shocking week for him, and his family.

Worth remembering we have no knowledge about their marriage. Just because this is a complete shock to most people it doesn't mean its a complete shock to her.

She might have been aware of his behaviour, they might have been working through it or they may have agreed to a more 'open' relationship.

I don't think there are no questions to be answered about the relationships he has had with very young men but as for assuming it's a violation of his marriage - we just don't know anything about it.

Yesterday Radio 4 reported that someone else had come forward to say that this had happened to them and they had been sent nasty messages by him after meeting on a dating app. They checked the phone and they confirm it came from his number.

It was a slight give away when he wasn’t on News at 10!

I've thought that for a couple of days. Philip Schofield's career was 'light entertainment', Huw Edwards was a very serious broadcaster, wheeled out for all state events. It cast a different feel, (no better or worse), to what he did.

But then Jon Sopel said this morning that the presenter was angry, so I thought maybe not.

This is what I'm wondering - is there actually evidence? If so, it is disgusting but if not, this penchant for trial by social media is scary.

He behaved atrociously but has played a blinder using the mental health card. Look at the posters already excusing his behaviour. No one is held accountable anymore are they? Man behaves abhorrently, checks himself into fancy hospital. Nothing to see here. Move along. No, let's hold him accountable and he might not prey on a vulnerable person again.

Yes he may have been conversing with younger adults, but assume none under 18 as no criminal activity. So sleazy, but worth this witch hunt?

There is no evidence around any pictures, crack addiction or anything else. A few, pretty dull, text exchanges on Social Media, and that’s all we have seen.

Who’s saying he’s not accountable? Just that it’s very unfair to say someone who has previously spoken about 20 years of serious depression is “playing the mental health card”

A certain female presenter was actually charged with a crime, she was hounded relentlessly and killed herself. And then everyone extolled #bekind on every platform. Yet no one is in this scenario, where no actual crime has been committed- let’s remember the police have investigated and drawn that conclusion already- is giving an inch and the same old British flogging is taking place. It’s all very very sad.
