I'm actually shocked.

The most shocking thing is how many people believe a word The Sun or The Daily Mail publish and never question their agenda.

And just as shocking how many people believe the statement from Huw Edwards wide also to be true, yet with absolutely no proof.

MissPop · 12/07/2023 19:56

@LadyMary50

You are excusing his behaviour. Bipolar or not, it’s not a get out of jail card for exploiting minors. Combining criminality with mental illness is the forensic arena. Some people are mad. Some people are mad and bad. It’s important to understand the difference or else we have a very, very convenient excuse for male misdemeanours.

toomuchlaundry · 12/07/2023 19:56

Meant to post many people assume all boys will eventually watch porn. We need to raise the bar. Stop accepting it is just what males do, and educate them

VaughanMorgan · 12/07/2023 19:56

Disappointing 😢
Depression can skew people’s judgement
We need to work out how to protect all young people on SM
Maybe space in the media for equal coverage of Boris Johnson and George Osborne indeed

Countdowntowinter · 12/07/2023 19:57

Very young person with a drug habit and vulnerable did things on video for Huw Edwards. Not illegal but immoral. Huw, married with children and in a position of power and status didn't know better. Dirty, mucky and if not illegal and police not investigating then the BBC can look into his actions. Other individuals have come forward so maybe he made a habit out of this, maybe not. Religious man on Sundays and sleaze with much younger and very vulnerable person(s).

Hopefully he will get help for whatever drives him to seek out vulnerable, younger people.

safetyfreak · 12/07/2023 19:57

I am glad he is getting the support he needs but, I do not want to ever see him on TV again. The way he has behaved is appalling and appears to be, only the tip of the iceberg.

Maybe the younger people are selling themselves and are quite happy to do so for money!

this gets a prize for the most wild post 🤷🏿‍♂️

That was not my post. I was quoting it.

Having just read his wife's statement and the police report of no criminal activity, it's pretty disgusting that he has ended up in hospital in patient treatment just to stop us all talking about George Osborne during his wedding weekend.

Totally agree. Yes, what he's done is immoral but the police are saying there is no case so surely this should be between him and his wife, not the general public.
I'm more disgusted by the possibility of it being used to bury other stories.

Yep I agree @OMGitsnotgood and whoever you quoted. It's also documented that Huw Edwards apparently liked on twitter a post which was supporting the NHS but also was in support of labour. He said afterwards he just wanted to support NHS but didn't realise it was a labour tweet...so the Tories have been gunning for him. Guess they managed to find some kind of a skeleton..although the police have cleared him so what exactly happened?! We still only have the Sun's word for it...a morally bankrupt Tory rag newspaper. Hmmm. I am the first person to call out poor behaviour from men but honestly this absolutely stinks of foul play when George Osbourne has similar accusations levied against him and suddenly this comes out at the same time...! I call foul. So long free press, the Tories want it gone at any cost including destroying families. Show us your source The Sun, prove what you said is true!!! Thought not.

storminamooncup · 12/07/2023 20:02

I thought the S*n was a Labour paper (I've never read it)

Yep conservatives made him pay for prostitution

don-you think Sunak was taking the photo’s personally I wonder if boris drove Edwards to the cash point 🤷🏿‍♂️

Of course, what he did was at best morally corrupt. But he was hung out to dry to protect those who arguably are even worse

He hasn't done any of that, all we have is the SUN and their version of the truth, which may be widely inaccurate.

As for criminality, the MET have said no crimes have been committed.

So at best 2 adults exchanged money for sexual images, hardly the Moors Murders is it?

kirinm · 12/07/2023 20:03

Thesenderofthiscard · 12/07/2023 18:12

Oh, feck off with the MH issues… he’s an abuser, he could have gone to any adult site and seen what he wanted but there’s no power trip for him doing that. Is there??

What did he do then since you seem to know something the police don't?

NeedToThinkOfOne · 12/07/2023 20:04

Good post 👏🏼 @Talapia
Yes, feels like we are all in the cast of one continuous Black Mirror episode 😒

Gerrataere · 12/07/2023 20:04

lubileejubilee · 12/07/2023 19:54

Police say there’s no crime to answer to, therefore between the man and his family imo.

lolling at all the ‘older man abusing a position of power’ comments. Yeah I mind when I was 17, newsreaders were like rock and roll stars 😂 😂 😂

’Hey sweetheart, you want to be on the news? I can make you a big star!’ 😂 😂

You clearly have little idea of what a power play is or how vulnerable young people are. Especially these days. Sex work has always shown to have negative effects on the person selling themselves. There is never a healthy reason as to why one so young would do so. What used to be seen as seedy is now celebrated - both ways are as bad as each other because when it goes to shit that person never gets to say ‘I made a huge mistake, I thought I was in control at the time but it was the worst thing I could have done’. They’re always to blame for ‘their own actions’ rather than being seen for someone who was groomed into thinking that sex and selling their bodies is simply something they can shut off into the back of their minds. And that grooming is so prevalent these days to even question buying sex is considered backwards.

Hell why don’t we just have full blown red light districts and be done with it, right on the high street? Pop to Primark, run to the card shop, get a teen to wank behind a shop window for you, grab a Greggs for the way home. All just paying for a service isn’t it…

MrsPapadopolis · 12/07/2023 20:04

Has no-one bothered to read this??

The Metropolitan Police and South Wales Police both said this evening that no criminal offence had been committed by the presenter. The BBC had paused its internal probe into the claims Mr Edwards paid the teenager for explicit pictures - and that investigation will now continue.

storminamooncup · 12/07/2023 20:02

I thought the S*n was a Labour paper (I've never read it)

It isn’t, that’s the Mirror.

tacomaco · 12/07/2023 20:04

Why are so many taking the Sun reporting as the truth.

Doagooddeed · 12/07/2023 20:06

Quite, the SUN isn't pursuing this all on its lonesome.

kirinm · 12/07/2023 20:06

toomuchlaundry · 12/07/2023 18:20

But if the photos were of someone under 18 it is a crime

But they weren't and even The Sun are back peddling on that.

whynotwhatknot · 12/07/2023 20:07

i feel sad i liked him-its such a mess all round

kirinm · 12/07/2023 20:08

Thesenderofthiscard · 12/07/2023 18:26

They're investigating other claims now... I hope the Beeb haven't been covering for another abuser.
What's the excuse going to be? it's not the 70s any more...

Do you want to provide proof of that? The police have said there is no crime but that IF there is any evidence of anything new they willl. But the BBC are now allowed to continue with their internal investigation.

Stop making shit up.

Dovetail40 · 12/07/2023 20:09

Oh dear.
Hope they all get the help they need.

Bad judgement if not illegal.

Lessons to be learnt.

Daphodils · 12/07/2023 20:09

Feeling rather sorry for Huw. Many lives wrecked needlessly. This seems to be good for no one but The Sun and Rupert Murdoch.
