I'm actually shocked.

Maybe the younger people are selling themselves and are quite happy to do so for money!

Oh well that's okay then. Because younger people, with a drug habit, are perfectly capable of making rational decisions over this sort of thing, aren't they, and are never exploited by powerful older men.

WeWereInParis · 12/07/2023 19:39

I thought that any under 18 sending explicit images that was a crime. Really not understanding the police statement right now.

I'm assuming the police statement means they found no evidence of pictures of an under 18 year old.

I think either this, or H.E could prove he had reason to believe the person was over 18. Otherwise, I dont think the Sun could ever have claimed proof whilst at the same time have Police reach an outcome of no criminality

ArcticSkewer · 12/07/2023 18:09

Having just read his wife's statement and the police report of no criminal activity, it's pretty disgusting that he has ended up in hospital in patient treatment just to stop us all talking about George Osborne during his wedding weekend.

Exactly.........why are people so easily distracted?

Pammy26 · 12/07/2023 19:43

I feel deeply sorry for him. He has not broken any laws.

WeWereInParis · 12/07/2023 19:43

The way I read it they did just this, then went to the media when they felt the BBC was not taking appropriate action - so the Sun as a last resort

I personally would have replied to the BBC's email about my complaint before I handed details of my child's sexual activities over to the fucking Sun.

TizerorFizz · 12/07/2023 19:44

On this website, I’m told the young people post their pictures for money. HE decided to click on one or more. What he was thinking of, who can say.

@Endlesssummerof76 This had already been looked at by police in South Wales in April. The parents then went to the BBC. They did not get a response from the parents. Then they went to the Sun who could not believe their luck. The Sun ownership is not a fan of the bbc.

So no case to answer. But a very stupid snd probably ill man.

Well yes, same! But I believe that was their reasoning in any case.

Well that’s ok shall we go on line and buy some now after all it’s just like buying a movie poster right

so will you be recommending it as a career for your dd after all its no big deal right all the kids are doing it 👀

I often think that about parents who defend any form of sex related work, would you then promote it to your kids alongside any other job? Encourage it as a good line of work? They wouldn't. Its all ok as long as it isn;t their son or daughter

JazzyBBG · 12/07/2023 19:47

His poor kids and wife.

I imagine there is more to come, he won't have just suddenly started indulging in these past times he's 61!

But it's legal!

The imbalance of power in this case just disgusts me.

this gets a prize for the most wild post 🤷🏿‍♂️

The problem I was pointing out is the comment
’turning youngsters into prostitutes’
alluding to the fact that the ‘youngsters’ ( 18 plus it seems, not below 18 ) so young adults were entirely blamesless and all the fault was on those who are older.
If young adults are entirely blameless why are there so many in prison.
Putting the blame on the older person when there is absolutely no evidence on this is tantamount to a witch hunt.

We all know where that leads.
People are wrongly accused.

So therefore making accusations as the PP did without any proof should be called out.

Snapdrag0n555 · 12/07/2023 19:49

It was not their story to splash all over the media. If a crime had been committed it was something that happened to him and it it should have been his choice as to what he did with it.

Awful awful money grabbing parents.

Charlize43 · 12/07/2023 19:36

Every year I get a reminder to tell me that I have to pay for a BBC TV Licence or else I will be a criminal.

Does anyone else feel grubby after finding out that their money is being spent on turning youngsters into prostitutes and drug addicts?

Do you think it's worth writing in for a refund?

Me.

It absolutely sickens me. The BBC must sack him

Because young adults are always innocent🤣🤣
I live in the real world.

Mixedberrygenderfluidmuffin · 12/07/2023 19:50

I hope he is getting all the support he needs, as no doubt the shame of this exposure will be having a huge impact on his mental health.

I also hope he NEVER appears on television again. Someone who has used vulnerable young people for sex should not be appearing as the face of British Broadcasting, whether they did anything illegal or not.

LuluBlakey1 · 12/07/2023 19:50

The most shocking thing is how many people believe a word The Sun or The Daily Mail publish and never question their agenda.

They are utter trash and certainly not newspapers. The equivalent of GB News Live. They whip up anti: public service/broadcaster/union/ immigrant/ racist/female hatred and cause fear. They are disgusting rags owned and run by very rich, right-wing male billionaires who have an agenda that is basically about : making more billions, paying less tax, avoiding any scrutiny, making sure we never have a Labour government or re-join the EU, and reducing public services to almost zilch so they don't have to pay for them. They don't care who they exploit or what lies they tell to achieve this.

toomuchlaundry · 12/07/2023 19:51

I think this whole sorry story is a good time to be telling our young people that they don’t need to be selling their body as a commodity on sites like OF, they are worth so much more than that.

Most people assume all boys will watch lien eventually. Nows the time to raise that bar

LadyMary50 · 12/07/2023 19:51

MissPop · 12/07/2023 19:14

@PollyThePixie

Yep 🙌….. didn’t turn them into sleazeballs. They were very under functioning mind and most certainly wouldn’t have been able to address to the nation that the queen had died.

Please…. Just stop 🤦‍♀️.

From experience of a family member with Bipolar when he was on the correct medication he was very high functioning. It’s when he was high that the behaviour changed, and yes he was sleazy then. The depression comes when the high crashes and that’s when he became low functioning. So Huw Edwards would be very capable of doing the queens funeral while he was medicated and stable.I lived with this for years and know that Bipolar effects people in different ways as does clinical depression.I’m not excusing his behaviour but your comments make the illness sound minimal..

LizzieSiddal · 12/07/2023 19:51

The Sun newspaper has a lot of questions to answer regarding this. Yes Huw Edwards is a grubby man, who I personally do not now want to read the news to me, but The Sun exaggerated what he had done,
specifically making out he was a sex criminal. The police have said he isn’t and the young person involved said he hadn’t done anything illegal.

So we really all should be yelling at Rupert Murdoch who hates the BBC and fully supports the Conservatives.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 12/07/2023 19:53

I agree, I think we can absolutely understand and want anyone, no matter what, to get the mental health help they need. However we can also say, we don;t want him to have this kind of platform anymore because his morals do not reflect the position he had or that of most of society.

Clafoutie · 12/07/2023 19:53

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 12/07/2023 18:31

He behaved atrociously but has played a blinder using the mental health card. Look at the posters already excusing his behaviour. No one is held accountable anymore are they? Man behaves abhorrently, checks himself into fancy hospital. Nothing to see here. Move along. No, let's hold him accountable and he might not prey on a vulnerable person again.

He has reportedly had mental health issues for years. I am NOT saying this can in any way be an excuse for whatever turns out to have happened, ( and we still don’t yet know what that is), but I think it wrong to suggest he is ‘playing the mental health card’, as if he has just invented mental health issues on the spot.

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 12/07/2023 19:54

They don't care who they exploit or what lies they tell to achieve this.

Much like the men who use vulnerable adults for sexual gratification.

lubileejubilee · 12/07/2023 19:54

Police say there’s no crime to answer to, therefore between the man and his family imo.

lolling at all the ‘older man abusing a position of power’ comments. Yeah I mind when I was 17, newsreaders were like rock and roll stars 😂 😂 😂

’Hey sweetheart, you want to be on the news? I can make you a big star!’ 😂 😂

No we should yell at a man who paid for prostitution useing public funds
1 in 4 people in magistrates are for non payment of bbc fines
