He is a highly paid figure employed by our national broadcaster that we all pay towards. A 61 year old married man who paid vulnerable teenagers for sexual photos.

his wife sounds really supportive. I’ve a feeling many of you are ashamed about him only because he’s came out as gay and has tried having sexual activities with other younger than him. Would I do it ? No. But it’s none of my business if others decide to. They’ve not raped anyone so what they do it’s their own business.

He actually did a programme about depression last year, so let’s not assume it’s just a convenience created over the last few days and that his current health status is a private matter, though that may not stop the no shame tabloids trying to confirm where he’s being treated.

Full respect to his wife, how horrendous things must be just now and she’s asked for privacy for their children’s sake.

He’s been very open in the past about his mental health.Bipolar disorder can lead you to do things that are totally out of character.It’s a very serious illness..

No one's disputing that he has had mental health issues (though not bipolar disorder) and that these should be taken seriously. That doesn't let him off the hook for this behaviour though. And if he has checked into the Priory, it's the go-to place for stars mid-scandal who want to get away from the media - it's not necessary to be in the midst of a mental health crisis to go there.

Quite possible that the young person and his parents are also undergoing mental health crisis. Perhaps some concern for them would be nice.

His MH don't forgive creepy or sleazy behaviour at all, but it's pretty obtuse to say they are convenient or "playing a mh card". The man has well documented mental health struggles.

I'm sure more will come out in due course but for now all we know is that the victim and police say nothing criminal occurred, the man himself is receiving treatment for a significant mh issue and The Sun successfully launched a story that distracted half the nation from GO's wedding and Boris Johnsons failure to comply with information requests relating to his covid investigation.

A 17 year old is a child and therefore automatically classed a vulnerable. You can also be classed as vulnerable temporarily due to a situation in your life like a mental health crisis or drug addiction.

Well yes it sounds as if that's very likely the case...but that doesn't change the fact he's had a breakdown, does it?

Well it is and that would include the 17 year old who made the images. However the fact the Police are saying no criminal offences suggests they have found no evidence that actually happened.

I thought it was interesting that on 19 May the mother went to the BBC telling them HE was paying her adult son for explicit pictures which he was using for crack and asking them to tell HE to stop. Sharing explicit photos between 2 consenting adults is not a crime not a lot that could be done. Suddenly on the 7 July they're saying it started when he was 17 like someone has told them they need to say that to get some action and then the Sun publish their story.

I saw some supposed Instagram messages for the 17 year old and HE seems frankly disinterested and the boy being the one maintaining contact.

As other people have said this should now between him and his wife. I suspect they may have had an arrangement as he seemed to post more photos with his Mum rather than his wife. In fact I sort of assumed he was single.
