Can everyone stop driving these fucking stupid ego-tanks in urban areas now?

Who needs a fucking wank panzer in Wimbledon???

Ban them in urban areas.

Thatbloodyhedge there are PLENTY of larger cars far more suitable to driving around people with disabilities than a bloody Range Rover! What a ridiculous reason to own this hideous tank. It’s all because you think it screams money and style when in actual fact they do the opposite.
The ugly gold and black Landrover tank in question here weighed two tonnes and was able to trap a poor child underneath it. The impact on crashing such a large, powerful and heavy car causes is completely different to a mini or smart car as those trying to defend owning one of these monstrosities try to claim.

Pearlsaminga · 07/07/2023 17:06

it's easy to see who on the threads owns some sort of monster truck!
I agree, they need banning.

There's a real strength of feeling about urban areas becoming barely habitable due to excessive car use and these monstrosities are the most obvious manifestation of it.

They're not justifiable, they're anti-social and dangerous.

The law controls what is on the roads and what it is allowed to do. We do not live in a car advert, driving carefree across dunes having adventures.

Most of us live in tightly controlled, densely populated and regulated urban areas. You do not have the freedom to drive whatever you want, however you want. The law controls that.

It can control this problem too.

Nice rant but the law is not going to change, no matter how much you want it too.

Get used to seeing SUVs and 4x4`s there are going to be a lot more on the road for you to rage at.

If you ever spot me give me a finger or a holler, Ill be sure to honk for you 😂

Can you explain why there will be more?

When a child dies it makes people angry, and when people are selfish it makes people rude.

Can you explain why there will be more?

April 2023 saw a ninth consecutive month of growth for the UK new car market with registrations increasing 11.6% with a total of 132,990 new cars sold and SUVs and 4x4 are very popular.

fiftiesmum · 07/07/2023 17:14

Perhaps we should put a double reinforced concrete wall around every school and playground so people can keep these huge cars

Tbh if this woman is charged I don't envy her first day at the mags. It will be all over the press. Her life and many others ruined.

I’m not sure ‘they are very popular’ was the answe I was looking for but thanks anyway.

For holders of normal driving licences, we already have.

You can drive a very large van on a normal licence like the ones that carry glass

bellac11 · 07/07/2023 17:17

Anxioys · 07/07/2023 16:58

@bellac11 - no idea. 20mph is okay ish for standing pedestrians. If you are hit on the ground then serious injury or death is likely. Even then it's not a target is it?

It seems reasonable to assume that the impact speed was greater than 20mph.

Well that was sort of my point, someone was saying the solution would be (amongst other things) lower speed restrictions, but this was already a 20pmh street (if Ive heard right)

People dont always stick to those which is the problem.

Then there are speed humps, Ive had people impatiently overtake me on a residential street while I slow down to go over them!!!

People just dont give a shit, nasty and entitled.

mollyminniemo · 07/07/2023 17:17

Ok, so imagine you do ban them in urban areas - I have one, live rurally and regularly tow a livestock trailer - what happens when I need to drive through a town/city?
