I’m due a baby girl in September. I really like the name Sepora and think it’s quite unique. DH hates it! Am I being aibu here?

Lalage for example. Nobody has heard of it, I'll wager. It's greek but is popular in the UK . Short form Lally.

Pronounced La la gee

I know two Lalage's. Both pronounce their name La-La-gay though.

Definitely not OP. Sounds like a suppurating wound. Just no.

MavisMcMinty · 06/07/2023 22:32

Yes, because all children need a name that no-one else can pronounce or spell. Hours of fun for your child, correcting people and spelling it out over the phone for the rest of their life.

That sounds better than la la gee.

I'm more than willing to concede that my friend's mum didn't know
how to pronounce it properly and consequently I don't either.
Every day is a school day

I owe you :)

Other names you could consider are Superdrugge with an accent on the last e to pronounce it ‘Superdruggay’ . Or how about Bootes with an accent on the e to pronounce it ‘Bootez’? Both very youneeek and your child will have heaps of fun explaining the spelling and pronunciation to everyone she meets for years to come.

Makes me think of a cleaning product.

Make me think you're a fan of the cosmetics brand Sephora. Her sister will be Maybelline.

🤣🤣🤣

From the title I assumed you meant Sephora but had mistyped.

Is Sepora a made-up name? I think it's sounds awful, sorry. More like a brand of cleaning products than a girl's name.

"Can't get rid of that grease on your pans? Just use Sepora and they'll be sparkling in a flash".

Hilarious!

Notimeforaname · 07/07/2023 01:09

I also knew a Sephia (seff-ee-ah) or (seff-ya ) depending on your accent.
