What is this virus going around :-(

I’ve felt completely wiped out for three days now, no energy at all, headaches, body aches. I’ve done nothing but rest but it doesn’t seem to be easing at all. Anyone else had the same recently?

I’ve had two viruses in last 6 weeks. Both left me wiped out, swollen glands and just hugely, hugely sweaty. Both times I had very very faint positive covid tests.

Iamkittycat · 02/07/2023 17:38

I've had the same. Really triggered my asthma and I thought it was hay-fever, but then it felt like a chest infection. Doctor prescribed antibiotics, they cleared it, but then my temperature came back for four days. Now I'm just dizzy.

So many people I know have it, all the asthmatics are on antibiotics and steroids. It feels like when I had covid, but we're all testing negative.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 02/07/2023 18:43

OH tested positive last Monday and I've been feeling pretty crap but still negative.

Today has been off the scale though. I've been asleep on and off during the day, my head feels 3x the size, mahoosive headache and rivers of phlegm. Also very dizzy and my heart rate keeps dropping, according to my watch.

Have to go in tomorrow though as have 2 big meetings I need to minute & action, but not much else the rest of the week so I'll see how I get on.

C1239 · 02/07/2023 18:50

Sorry to hear that @Babysharkdoodoodood , does your OH have similar symptoms? Will you dose up and try and get through tomorrow at work?

The sweatiness is an interesting one, I didn't notice it when I was feeling ill as I was so fatigued I was barely doing anything, but now I am feeling just about better and my activity levels are returning to normal I've noticed I seem to be sweating far more than I ever have previously.

I had Covid at the beginning of June . My symptoms were sticky eyes and an itchy throat , also severe tiredness . I only tested because I felt so exhausted.
Last week I started with a cold . I have a horrible cough , sore throat , blocked nose and tiredness . I'm using my asthma inhalers more than normal . I'd say that I feel much worse with the cold than I did with Covid .

Daffodildilys · 02/07/2023 19:03

I tested positive for covid over 2 weeks ago. It’s absolutely floored me and dh. I also gave it to my dd and her 14 week old son!
Your body needs to rest.
OP - if you’re still feeling ropey take time off work. You won’t get a medal for going in sick.

C1239 · 02/07/2023 20:20

I feel like I’m getting better for an hour or two then I feel bad again. Feels a bit relentless with bugs this year.

I thought it was my sinus then maybe tonsilitus, felt a bit sick but not actually sick, felt hot but not a fever. Headaches for 1-2 days. My hayfever is particularly bad too. I've been taking cold and flu tablets and its really helped, definitely over it now. Forgotten what a common cold feels like tbh as usually I end up with tonsilitis.

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 02/07/2023 21:19

I've got this too! I've been having terrible headaches, almost like a migraine, feeling nauseous and falling asleep every time I sit down.
I slept for hours today and I can't shift the headache.
I've also been sweaty and have got earache.

Gerrataere · 02/07/2023 21:24

Not symptomatic of Covid, but there’s been a nasty D and V/noro type virus going about my way. So many people I know have caught it, including myself unfortunately.

C1239 · 02/07/2023 21:40

@GiveYourHeadAWobble sounds so similar, how long have you had it for?

On and off for about a week! It's the on and off nature of it that is throwing me.

Bikingwithbabies · 02/07/2023 22:04

OP, it really sounds like the symptoms I had when I had COVID in March. I initially tested negative even though I looked so crap that my parents could instantly tell I was ill on a video call! Fever that won't go away, lack of improvement but good and bad days alternating, nausea (almost bought a pregnancy test!), 0 taste or smell and extreme fatigue.

I felt very similar last Friday and was convinced it was the plague again but after a ridiculous amount of sleep I'm actually OK now, so it was either something else or I had some immunity. I'm not doing a test as my employer would want me off for five days and I'd feel really bad about that now I'm feeling better.

Kittylitty · 02/07/2023 22:31

I have felt the same the last couple of days. Nausea, achy legs, headache and just generally feeling so tired and out of it

wildfirewonder · 02/07/2023 22:42

C1239 · 02/07/2023 10:34

I don’t think it can be hayfever, I’m not sure that can make you feel completely wiped out? Thursday I was feeling poorly like nauseous , achy, etc non working day Friday and I’ve barely moved since just felt absolutely floored, it’s weird hard to describe. So tired. Concerned about work next week feeling like this

Hayfever definitely makes people feel wiped out, it is one of the main symptoms.

Hayfever for me is like a cold but minus the snot.

TaraRhu · 02/07/2023 22:56

Migraine? A bad one can knock you out for days.

Hawkins0001 · 02/07/2023 22:57

Would multi vitamins help

I'm just going to take paracetamol to get through.

PP: Totally agree with the sweatiness. I've been soaked the last few days.

PizzaPizza56 · 02/07/2023 23:13

We've had this. And really sweaty with it.

Negative covid tests but my colleague who I share an office with tested positive. So I'm guessing it was covid.

Last time I had covid I had negative lateral flows but a positive PCR.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 02/07/2023 23:13

We have had this! I just couldn't work out what it was, as no respiratory symptoms, just felt like we had been hit by a truck, me and my dd (who is young and energetic normally). Felt terrible, sleeping so much, but no real symptoms beyond extreme exhaustion, bit of a headache, feeling sick.

We also tested her for Covid, negative.

Now thinking it might well be Covid though, it's definitely not a cold and it's not hayfever (which we do get) as we are taking the same antihistamines as normal and do not feel better at all (usually do).

Just guess we have to sleep a lot and wait for it to pass, I feel better today and that's after 4 days, my dd still feels rubbish.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 02/07/2023 23:14

@TaraRhu that was my second guess as both of us do have migraines, and the stomach wobbles/nausea did seem like that.

So hard to know and I guess we never will, now these Covid tests seem all but useless.

Verymodestmouse · 02/07/2023 23:30

I’ve had a sore throat, a runny nose and have been wiped out. I had a headache that wouldn’t shift for four days, that’s gone now. I normally tend to bounce back quickly but I’m exhausted. Have felt rough for about a week, peaking on Thursday and still flagging now.

Coffeeandcherrypie · 02/07/2023 23:41

I’ve got a virus too. Sore throat, cough, runny noise and tired.

Didn’t even think of Covid because the symptoms have been more annoying than bad.
