Are Shein clothes any good?

Just that really, I fancy a couple of the dresses but the prices seem quite low… is the quality not that great?

SemperIdem · 25/06/2023 19:01

The clothing quality is appalling, and even by fast fashion standards, the working conditions are especially poor.

Allelbowsandtoes · 25/06/2023 19:03

No, they're crap and like the previous poster said, conditions for the workers in their garment factories will be appalling. How else could they keep prices so low?
Obviously tempting with cost of living crisis etc but don't do it!

Humidititties · 25/06/2023 19:03

No, and they have very poor working conditions, poor pay and excessive amounts of wastage. Not somewhere I'd buy from

Redlarge · 25/06/2023 19:03

Ive had a few bits. Some better quality than others. Most not very good. Stay away from knitwear. Summer dresses and swimwear is ok.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 25/06/2023 19:06

DD buys some bits from there, some is absolutely atrocious quality but she has had some bits that were well worth the price and look great.

RoseAndRose · 25/06/2023 19:06

Variable - DD has bought from there.

Some things were nice, some proved to be horrible

I don't shop there because I do not support their ethical and environmental standards.

Avondale89 · 25/06/2023 19:08

No and they’re an appalling company

wildthingsinthenight · 25/06/2023 19:09

Do not buy from them

BananaSpanner · 25/06/2023 19:10

Hit and miss. I’ve got some reasonable bits from there, other stuff not so great.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 25/06/2023 19:11

Even if the quality was amazing I would never buy from there. They're an appalling company.

NeedleFeltedFox · 25/06/2023 19:11

Awful awful company

Iwantmyoldnameback · 25/06/2023 19:13

I don't shop there but the kids do. Real cheap disposable fashion.

gettingoldisshit · 25/06/2023 19:14

Some things are ok and some are awful! I like their jeans.

Whattodo112222 · 25/06/2023 19:15

You'll get a lot of people telling you Shein is Ethically wrong because of poor working conditions. It is basically modern day slavery to an extent.

However, since your question relates to the quality of the clothing I would say it is really hit and miss.

It is basically primark online but sourced from China.

Qwertyyui · 25/06/2023 19:17

If you like something search for it on vinted. That way you are not shopping unethically and you are saving the planet from things ending up in a tip. I also donate some clothes to charity when I buy things off vinted to try and offset my shopping a little bit too.

isthismylifenow · 25/06/2023 19:26

I have bought summer items and I quite liked most of it.

I was meticulous about reading the reviews and avoiding polyester though.

The swim wear is pretty good value, I like the sets they do.

Dd has quite a few of their crop tops/teen wear. They have washed well and kept their shape.

I have a few summer dresses, mostly cotton. I have worn them a lot (I live in a hot country so they have been worn quite a bit).

The shoes I would steer clear of.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 25/06/2023 19:29

Some things add actually ok. Much better than they used to be.

they are ethically terrible though. As many have said fast fashion, and throw away ethos. Tbh though the few things I have I’ve had for a while and intend to keep for ages yet, so I don’t buy into the fast fashion tend.

Bloodyleaverspartybollocks · 25/06/2023 21:46

It's great for summer clothes. Check the material first and the reviews for sizing
Had quite a lot from there for me and DD and only had 1 or 2 bits I wasn't fussed on

StillWantingADog · 25/06/2023 21:53

Bought some stuff from there recently and the summer dresses were nice looking and reasonable quality.

have since educated myself and unlikely to buy from there again. There are significant ethical concerns and I read an article (admittedly a few years old) suggesting that almost all returns end up in India in landfill (I think other retailers are guilty of this, not just Shein). Anyway, it’s cheap for a reason.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 25/06/2023 22:01

Everything I've had from there (and it's not much as I only discovered them recently and I don't buy loads of clothes anyway) has been fine.

The fabric content and measurements are all in the listings, and many reviews feature pictures of the clothes on real people which is helpful.

GrannypantsMagee · 25/06/2023 22:04

Utter shite even if you don't care how it's so cheap

Ponoka7 · 25/06/2023 22:09

They range from similar quality to river island, New look and down to Peacocks, you've got to read the reviews. I've bought bags and they've been better than Primark. Handy for a cheap cross body summer bag. My DD has had beach towels and a beach bag, they've lasted two years now. The sliders are the same quality as H&Ms.

Twilight7777 · 25/06/2023 22:10

It depends on the material but found swimwear good.

groupery · 25/06/2023 22:10

Don't buy from that crap
