Just that really, I fancy a couple of the dresses but the prices seem quite low… is the quality not that great?

Most of the things I've had I've actually been surprised at how good the quality is. The emery rose collection is really nice.

nimski · 25/06/2023 22:13

I've had some lovely dresses from there, they are thin but that's fine for me for Summer. Also, easier & quicker returns than any UK company.

DragonflyLady · 25/06/2023 22:14

We’ve not had a huge amount of items from there but the quality has been absolutely fine. I did buy a hoodie which was an adult large, which my then nine year old ended up with as it fit her, not me!

PinkiOcelot · 25/06/2023 22:15

I’ve bought quite a few things from there. The summer dresses have been really nice. Wash well and hung straight up, don’t need ironed. I’ve bought swimwear too which has been really good. I’ve never bought knitwear or shoes so can’t comment on those.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 25/06/2023 22:16

Hit and miss but much of it no worse than your average high street shop. They offer free returns and free shipping plus discounts if you spend over a certain amount so I tend to buy a few different versions of the item I’m looking for to ensure I’ve spent enough to get the discounts and then just send back everything I don’t want to keep.

primoseyellow · 25/06/2023 22:17

Ive had a few bits, mainly from Vinted and they have been really nice.

SiobhanSharpe · 25/06/2023 22:17

The sizing is very hit and miss. It can be definitely on the skimpy side.

Bigwildorange · 25/06/2023 22:21

I’ve had some lovely stuff from there, sandals, summer dresses, shorts etc. Quite a few I bought last summer and I’m still wearing them, they wash fine too. Worth doing a small order to see what you think, also - check the individual reviews of each item, especially the pictures as you get a more accurate image of what the item looks like.

Summerishere123 · 25/06/2023 22:21

I wouldn't buy from there again. I got a nice summer dress and some joggers but everything else felt cheap and tatty.

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/06/2023 22:22

Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, my tweens want to and it's a no

Elphame · 25/06/2023 22:23

I would not feel comfortable wearing clothing that I knew came from an exploited workforce.

Philosopherstone · 25/06/2023 22:24

Anything I have ever bought from them is see through, our quality materials that feel weird. Even dresses you can see your pants and bra through them, so cheap.

Zanatdy · 25/06/2023 22:25

Pretty poor quality, very thin, throw away fashion

VivaVivaa · 25/06/2023 22:29

Abhorrent for the planet seeing as the vast majority of returned, unworn goods go straight into landfill as it’s cheaper than returning them to circulation.

Usedtobechilled · 25/06/2023 22:39

I will say i have bought summer clothes from shein and ive found the quality to be decent as long as you check the reviews of what you want to buy beforehand. Lots of people post pictures so that's how I judge its potential quality.
morally I do struggle with shein however when mortgage rates are up, electricity and gas is extortionate, food prices are a joke and even cheap clothing shops aren't that cheap anymore, it's difficult to not try and cut costs somewhere.

Mamai90 · 25/06/2023 22:43

Hit or miss. More of a miss though.

I bought a couple of sweaters that where the cheapest looking things I've ever seen. I use them for lounging around in as wouldnt wear them outdoors. Got a few bits for my holiday last year and it was ok, for holiday stuff anyway, but I wouldn't buy from there again.

groupery · 25/06/2023 22:43

cheap labour & goods isn't going to help the above.

Zarataralara · 25/06/2023 22:46

Appalling company. It’s cheap because the workers are exploited and the materials are cheap and damaging to the planet. Why would anyone be happy to contribute to that?
Look at better makes on Vinted and stop contributing to landfill. Please.

Probably not but what do you suggest the alternative is for people that are struggling? Primark, new look etc are all guilty of bad practice.

SirenSays · 25/06/2023 22:48

My friend buys from them all the time. Some items are primark quality, some are much better. Biggest issues seem to be that basics are often see through.

Yorkshirelass04 · 25/06/2023 22:49

Nope absolutely not

Startyabastard · 25/06/2023 22:51

I'd compromise and go to primark if I was on a budget.

groupery · 25/06/2023 22:51

I don't think Primark or New Look are quite as bad though. It's also not a given that we have to have lots of new clothes. Nothing wrong with consuming less or buying 2nd hand.

Buying cheap costs us just in different ways. One reason wages have stagnated here is because we don't manufacture anymore as many people refer cheap from overseas. We will pay for our climate change impact on poorer countries too. That outfit isn't as cheap as you think.

I don't think this is true. I have seen a few sale items go out of stock then go back up to one left after a few weeks. Returns I should think surely?

It definitely used to be. Some returns probably do end up back on sale but think about the logistics involved in receiving the return, figuring out what it is, repackaging it etc. all when they are only going to resell for £7.
it’s hardly worth the hassle is it.
