To think no teacher is affirming animal/moon/object genders

Surely no teacher in the UK would or could affirm a child who claimed to be a cat or a moon or any other sort of animal or object - eg letting them wear non-uniform, eat from bowl, disrupt learning with neo-pronoun requests. Just nonsense. This must be kids taking the piss and feeding bullshit to gullible journos.

I’ve also seen posters on here claiming their kid/cousin’s kid/neighbour’s goat breeder’s Auntie Sue’s best friend has first hand knowledge of this, and again I call bullshit. Bullshit. Any posters who say it’s not bullshit, get off here and write to Gillian Keegan, who explicitly requested examples of batshittery in schools at a recent select committee hearing, and name the school, and write to your local MP and ofsted too. But I think it’s just bullshit and teacher bashing.

I understand there are strong views on here about transgender issues. My AIBU is not intended to be about that.

I find it hard to believe any of this is real ... the person 'identifying' as a cat - well if they shit in a box, eat mice and lick their own arse then I might believe, but I'm sure they don't.

Teacher here. No way would I affirm an animal identity. It’s verging on abusive to the specific pupil and to the other pupils. This is a hill I will die on.

As an aside, I have a non binary pupil and just avoid using pronouns.

It's inevitable it was going to happen.. If people decide they can identify as the opposite sex why not identify as a cat, unicorn, the moon, dinosaur or horse?

Transwomen don't have vaginas, periods or the ability to carry a baby, yet we are expected to go along with their delusions.
What makes pretending to be a cat any different?

Isn't the key bit less about the cat thing, and more about the fact that the girls were told their view that there are only two sexes was unacceptable?

I see the cat thing as an extension to all the other gender stuff really - when you have to affirm everything without question, why not cat?

I think the two girls were absolutely correct in what they have done. If this ideology is being taught in schools it needs to be called out & exposed. I think many other kids will follow suit & hopefully expose anymore bullshit thats being peddled to kids.
Kids have the absolute right to question, debate & absolutely not believe what is being forced down their throats. Good on those girls. Teachers will need to think twice.

I think this stuff about kids being allowed to identify as cats is deeply unhelpful to the GC argument. It just makes it easier for the TRAs to say we’re all nuts and buying into every bit of shit the right wing media feeds us, and easier for the majority in the middle to not want to get involved because it’s all so bizarre. We need to stop allowing the narrative to be controlled like that.

You are wrong. We have had a cat girl all the way through primary and into secondary. There’s also a boy who identifies as a shark.

I am a teacher (primary) and there are very much 2 sexes. On the register- m/f. We don't have any children who say they are the opposite sex. We certainly would not entertain identifying as a cat etc!

Will they be 'affirmed'? Will they be encouraged to pursue surgery of their perfectly healthy bodies? Will anyone, ever, ask why they are unhappy in their bodies, consider the reason they wish to dissociate themselves from their bodies?

Has this happened more than once, this barking in class? Are they not disciplined for this disruptive behaviour? Your friend’s daughter should write to Ofsted, DfE and her MP if this is accepted by the school.

Agree 100%... I also think it won't be long until the ones identifying as animals are going to start being offered surgery too to look more like their animal of choice.
There is no difference between a man who identifies as a woman or a man who identifies as a cat. Both are pretending to be something they are not or can never be. People need to stop entertaining the nonsense.
