To think no teacher is affirming animal/moon/object genders

Surely no teacher in the UK would or could affirm a child who claimed to be a cat or a moon or any other sort of animal or object - eg letting them wear non-uniform, eat from bowl, disrupt learning with neo-pronoun requests. Just nonsense. This must be kids taking the piss and feeding bullshit to gullible journos.

I’ve also seen posters on here claiming their kid/cousin’s kid/neighbour’s goat breeder’s Auntie Sue’s best friend has first hand knowledge of this, and again I call bullshit. Bullshit. Any posters who say it’s not bullshit, get off here and write to Gillian Keegan, who explicitly requested examples of batshittery in schools at a recent select committee hearing, and name the school, and write to your local MP and ofsted too. But I think it’s just bullshit and teacher bashing.

I understand there are strong views on here about transgender issues. My AIBU is not intended to be about that.

There is a huge difference between respecting a chosen pronoun and calling a child a Kettle or a Fox.

Do we have evidence of a real teacher agreeing to call a child an animal or an inanimate object or is it just random women ‘identifying’ as teachers who are claiming this?

@redfacebigdisgrace that's terrible, I completely understand you are over a barrel. But can child safegarding or child protection be contacted? Surely children should not be encouraged to live a lie.

There's no difference between idenfiying as a sloth or identifying as the opposite sex.

There is lots evidence as teachers referring to children who are transitioning as the new sex that they imagine they are yes.
Teachers & parents have come on giving examples of kids indentifying as girls when boys & vice versa boys identifying as girls , as foxes, cats, etc.. . I think it's common in Australian schools . I'll have a search & see what I can link.

I presume these animal identifying children/teenagers still want make-up, mobile phones etc, eat normal food

And if I was a teacher they would be told 'be a cat etc. but you will still get detention if you don't hand your homework in'

Why is there? A girl can no more become a boy than she can a cat. Can you explain the difference? Both seem predicated on a dissociation with their physical body, it stands to reason you can fill the void with whatever you like.

I wouldn’t interview anyone who had pronouns everywhere, I would see them as disrupters likely to spend more time telling people in the team how wrong they were rather than working. At this point prob GenX is your best best

The Ladasha story was told to me at a teacher training session by the trainer who told it as if it was absolutely true and had happened to a friend of hers. I was quite shocked when I realised it was an urban myth predating our training session by some years. She was a lovely person and it slightly rocked my impression of her.

I read a newspaper article about the "identify as a cat" thing and it sounded as if it was offered as a hypothetical situation in a PSHE discussion and has now become fuel in a moral panic.

Personally, I don't subscribe to TWAW and do have concerns about sport, prison and women only spaces, but I believe trans people have the right to live their life in peace, and I see the pendulum swinging so far in the opposite direction that I seriously worry about where this is heading. Some of the people getting on board this agenda have zero interest in womens or LGB rights and would be happy to see them eroded. And anyone who votes Tory because "they know what a woman is", is utterly deluded and should look long and hard at what they have managed to do to the public services in this country and ask if they really want that on their conscience.

Where do you think it has 'swung so far'? I think people starting cautiously to say that reality exists is hardly a radical over-correction.

I’m afraid this was always going happen as the TRA became extreme. The more they enforced their views with threats and became moral terrorists the more people were going to react against them. People don’t like being called bigots for stating reality, they don’t like people screeching at them for trying to protect their own rights and dignity. They don’t like being told they have to believe things that are blatantly untrue, they don’t like being cancelled from social media because they quote a dictionary definition.

yes I feel sorry for those just trying to live their lives, they are victims of TRAs too, but they should have been shouting up against them. There would be much more acceptance if the just accepted they aren’t actual women but people who see themselves as women.
