To think no teacher is affirming animal/moon/object genders

Greenpotatosoup · 23/06/2023 13:13

Surely no teacher in the UK would or could affirm a child who claimed to be a cat or a moon or any other sort of animal or object - eg letting them wear non-uniform, eat from bowl, disrupt learning with neo-pronoun requests. Just nonsense. This must be kids taking the piss and feeding bullshit to gullible journos.

I’ve also seen posters on here claiming their kid/cousin’s kid/neighbour’s goat breeder’s Auntie Sue’s best friend has first hand knowledge of this, and again I call bullshit. Bullshit. Any posters who say it’s not bullshit, get off here and write to Gillian Keegan, who explicitly requested examples of batshittery in schools at a recent select committee hearing, and name the school, and write to your local MP and ofsted too. But I think it’s just bullshit and teacher bashing.

YABU: I believe teachers ARE affirming cat/moon/anything genders

YANBU: I don’t believe any teacher would affirm an animal or object gender.

I understand there are strong views on here about transgender issues. My AIBU is not intended to be about that.

Can I ask how many schools you surveyed in this detailed analysis of yours? Did they all respond to your survey request and how long ago did you collate this data?

Like it or not, it is about that. If you can identify as a boy when you're not one, you can identify as a cat when you're not one. It's perfectly logical.

I agree with you. But I think a post which essentially says "is this happening? Anyone who says yes is lying" is a bit pointless.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/06/2023 19:31

Yabu. My cat identifies as a health visitor and gets extremely judgemental if I don't pick up newborn DD and soon as she cries. He even shouts at me angrily until I do.

How do you mean verified?

I can offer you people who have lost their jobs for not affirming pronouns.

Binningtonianrose · 23/06/2023 19:42

I've done supply for two years. Taught in about eight different secondaries.
EVERY school is laced with girls pretending to be boys or doing the 'they them' thing...apart from.a Catholic one). Seems like being a pubescent girl is not popular.

I used to tell parents in pubs they had no idea what was going on in schools and what crap was being taught.

Finally people seem to be realising

Noicant · 23/06/2023 19:46

I think in an environment where being affirming is seen as very important it’s very difficult for individual teachers and schools to know where to draw the line. Honestly if I were a teacher I’d be a bit worried I’d be hounded out of my job if I said “knock it off Stacey, you aren’t a bloody cat”

I’m taking the total silence to mean IANBU 😺

YABU because it sounds like you are drunk posting 😄

Moopsi · 23/06/2023 19:53

Did you not listen to the recording of the teacher telling off the two girls for not affirming their classmate as a cat?! I mean that's one verified instance as it was recorded firsthand. The teacher tells off the girls for saying that the other girl couldn't identify as a cat, that their views were despicable and they needed to be "educated". That they were not entitled to their opinion and that they should leave the school. This all arose because they said that their classmate was a girl, not a cat.

AlexandriasWindmill · 23/06/2023 19:53

Are they doing it or would they do it? I believe they would affirm because they're terrified of losing their jobs, being caught up in a scandal and the teaching unions have been shit at standing up for teachers accused of using wrong pronouns, etc.
If you believe teens would wind up journalists, I don't understand why you think they wouldn't wind up teachers. There is much more opportunity for the latter.

Moopsi · 23/06/2023 19:55

If a man becomes a woman just by saying that he is one then we can all become anything we want to be. There is no difference between a girl identifying as a cat and a girl identifying as a boy. Both are saying that their feelings magically turn them into something that they are not.

Yeah it's not really a puzzle why pubescent girls would like to be something other than pubescent girls, if they are told there is an option Sad

Swrigh1234 · 23/06/2023 20:02

Anyone who has children in school knows this is happening. Ask your child, they will give you live examples.

True. For some reason people can’t stay away enough not to post that. They can hide the thread instead

AlexandriasWindmill · 23/06/2023 20:07

There was a spate of teen girls identifying as non-binary and calling themselves 'animal related' names eg wolf, etc. Did they 'identify' as a wolf or did they all just choose similar nb names they thought sounded cool? Who knows but their stories might have caused confusion too.

SunnyEgg · 23/06/2023 20:07

Clymene · 23/06/2023 18:20

You're wrong. There is a kid in my child's year who identifies as a baked product. Teachers have apologised to her for referring to her as a young lady.

It's fucking idiotic but then so is gender ideology

Blimey but yeah they both are that

Begsthequestion · 23/06/2023 20:08

The cat debacle has been misconstrued, sometimes deliberately. The teacher called the students despicable for denying trans people exist.

Not for denying someone can identify as a cat.

AlexandriasWindmill · 23/06/2023 20:10

They didn't deny the existence of anyone. They asserted their right to their own beliefs about sex and gender as established in the Forstater case.
