I've been on Mumsnet for around 10 years now, I have read some crazy threads.

I'm lying in bed hungover and looking for some stories to brighten up my shameful Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants to share it would be greatly appreciated Grin

OP posts:

@Rogue1001MNer Will you ever start some sort of AMA thread? 🙋‍♀️

I very much doubt it.

<whispers> but I'm on the Barry thread linked on here. That was a fun one. Different UN. I'm not the OP though. I think that was the very, very wonderful JesusInACabbageVan. Very sadly, I think she left mn recently. 😔 😪 💔

SandandSky · 18/06/2023 20:46

the one about taking a snake to the park that’s doing the rounds at the moment is giving me a good lol 😂

Daffodilwoman · 18/06/2023 20:55

I haven’t read the full thread so no idea if this has been mentioned. Years ago a poster started a thread asking if posters thought it was reasonable for her to ring her dh at work and get him to come home. The reason being that she was stuck on the worktop in the kitchen and couldn’t get down. After several posts it transpired that she had been reaching for tablets in the top cupboard and couldn’t get down. Lots of posters suggested she just slide down steadily into the floor, or jump down. Get down herself rather than make her dh come home. The poster kept saying she couldn’t get down.
I can’t even remember how it ended. I think she insisted that she would rather ring her dh and get him to lift her off the worktop.

Wait, what? Where!

Charlize43 · 18/06/2023 21:34

I remember one where the OP was outraged because some man on a bus had spoken to her.

LosingMyPancakes · 18/06/2023 22:18

If not mentioned yet, this was pure gold!

There was a blocked-in-neighbour's-guest-who-parked-on-our-drive one where, after a series of irate conversations/text exchanges, the OP's DH dressed up in something odd (full hazmat suit?) to answer the door to the neighbour's friend but it turned out to be the police. Who took it in their stride.

Sinthie · 19/06/2023 10:02

I’m just here for an excuse to read “penis beaker” again.

TheShellBeach · 19/06/2023 10:45

GrinJust read the pate thread.

It didn't take long before someone told the OP off for buying pate. Apparently it's very easy to make.

Yeah, whatever.

hitthenorth1 · 19/06/2023 13:52

Some of the most bonkers ones are those where the OP's partner has made some trivial transgression like leaving a wet towel on the bed, to be met with a succession of PP's practically foaming at the keyboard demanding she LTB. They will accept nothing less than the OP coming back to say yes, she has indeed LTB.

Loved the pate thread too, and the one where the clown at the big top made a jizz garnished sausage dog with balloons

Passthesickbagmabel · 19/06/2023 18:13

CherryCokeFanatic..is the woodland one where the person was house sitting and the dog rushed out into a scary haunted wood?

Somethingselfdeprecating · 19/06/2023 19:05

@Passthesickbagmabel
ooh I remember that one - proper creepy!

I think my all time favourite was, iirc @marmaladetwatkins and the LDC (Lemon Drizzle Cunt PTA women)
I still occasionally punch a lemon drizzle cake when at the supermarket!😂

Also I can’t quite remember the OP name but it was something like “Fuck you Karen and that horse” about the field that belonged to the OP but there was a horse that needed to be
moved and it eventually was and there was a party I think?
That was brilliant!

And does anyone know how Polly and her dollies are getting on?

"Savernake Forest".

"Savernake Forest".

That story was well-written and entertaining but it was nothing more than a creative writing exercise. It wasn't an entire thread, just a post on one of those 'Ghosts and Hauntings' threads that pops up from time to time.

It's obviously left quite an impression on quite a number of people, though. There have been a number of threads posted by other people since, who were trying to find the original.

ItsNotRocketSalad · 19/06/2023 20:06

It's not even well-written. I'm baffled why so many people think that story is the scariest thing ever.

TattiePants · 17/06/2023 23:07

@ridemesideway Angela Hernandez was hilarious but that thread also has a post by someone whose mum was ill and she had to call an ambulance for her. Every time the DM moved getting into the ambulance she farted and kept saying ‘I’m so sorry Brian’ to the paramedic. Except Brian wasn’t his name. (I’m sure I also have his name wrong)!

It was Alan. I remember coz I read it out to my husband, also an Alan, and couldn't stop laughing! Grin

This is Mumsnet. I meant by relative standards 😂

😁I know I quoted you but you're definitely not the first to say it's well-written.

I think it was FuckYouChrisAndTheSameGoesForThatHorse

TenoringBehind · 20/06/2023 07:29

I’ve revised my view. I think the craziest one is the one today about knocking down walls so that the whole family can sleep in one room.
