I've been on Mumsnet for around 10 years now, I have read some crazy threads.

I'm lying in bed hungover and looking for some stories to brighten up my shameful Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants to share it would be greatly appreciated Grin

The Easter bonnet one was the only Mumsnet thread I've ever actually laughed out loud. Not the most bonkers, but genuinely hilarious.

I’ve revised my view. I think the craziest one is the one today about knocking down walls so that the whole family can sleep in one room.

What sun forum is that in? ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory fans’?

Heytheredeliah · 20/06/2023 09:09

I remember this one where the OP wanted to start some online spice business. Elon Musk eat your heart out. Roman Abramovich step aside.
However, the OP was too broke to pay for insurance for the business. What a fucking shambles. I mean how the OP could be so stupid I'll never know.

This reminds me of the poster on an old CF thread who had a neighbour saying their builder would be around to measure up their (the poster's) loft, as they (the NDN) were planning an extension.

They had decided they were going to use the whole loft area - spanning both houses (presuming they were planning to knock down the party wall as well, hence the need to access from the other side for initial measuring) - and were most put out when told they would need to limit their extension to their own property.

Apparently, the poster was clearly a really unreasonable meanie for objecting to their plans - it 'wasn't fair', as the neighbours had more children than they did, so they 'needed' to steal part of somebody else's house!

My neighbours asked me to remove the fence between our gardens because my garden is much bigger than theirs and I don’t have children and they do so it was only fair they have both gardens… I said no, obviously, but they wrote several notes about it until I ripped one up and posted it back through their door. I don’t know where some people get their ‘Confidence’.

The one where someone asked "If you had limited bedrooms and you were getting a male lodger, would you put them in a room share with your young daughter?" and it turned out after some pages that she was actually talking about Fritz Pfeffer hiding with the Frank family during the Holocaust.

(Think about this one quite a lot and hope that it was just a bonkers idiot OP rather than an attempt to spread anti-semitic conspiracy theories.)

Online spice. So selling food to people without insurance. Did someone say lawsuit?

ThickSkinnedSoWhat · 20/06/2023 18:59

The one with the old Asian lady in the woman's garden tickled me

Newnamenewname109870 · 20/06/2023 19:14

I loved the overfriendly neighbour who would use a trampoline to talk to the op over the fence

No way that could have been serious.

RussianDolls146 · 21/06/2023 19:39

One that I remember is the OP got a card for a couple called Gaynor and Mike from another couple called Sheila and Peter.

She contacted then to let them know that they had moved. Lots of posters were wondering why Gaynor and Mike didn't want to stay in touch.

They were all speculating why and came up with some funny reasons.

I do remember laughing at some of them.

ARareKindaBear · 21/06/2023 20:33

Anyone remember a woman who had called her baby daughter Slithery? MIL didn’t approve apparently 😂

Blondewithredlips · 21/06/2023 20:37

The one where OP's flat mate agreed to an open coffin of a relative in their shared living room without discussing it with OP.

WTF!!! 😧

How did your refusal go down?

BlueThursday · 21/06/2023 21:03

Got to be the charity ship changing bag debacle

LlynTegid · 21/06/2023 21:21

Nothing in my opinion will ever beat the penis beaker thread.

They weren’t happy! They tried to get me to change my mind with the notes but they stopped after I ripped one up and posted it through their door. They also stopped saying hello when we saw them 😂

Nanna50 · 21/06/2023 22:43

@passioninthisworld have a look at the borrow my doggy website if you want dog play dates.

Nanna50 · 21/06/2023 22:44

Oops wrong thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

MyWishIsMyCommand · 21/06/2023 22:50

Well unlike some posters, I have read through to see if anyone posted this but nobody has.

I have many favs from MN, most of which have been deleted and I wish MN wouldn't do that, save for nasty/offensive/hurtful ones. Some of us enjoy lighthearted twattery.

The one I remember is a poster who invited some friends over for dinner but didn't prepare food. She expected them to bring food and was furious her dinner guests didn't know they were supposed to bring any. So she served them biscuits and wine out on the terrace and went inside fuming while her guests were outdoors munching on biscuits and wondering when dinner would be ready. OP was posting from inside and asking if she should kick them out for their crime or be the bigger person and take them out/order takeaway...or something.

Posters had a right laugh at OP's expense while OP was playing along, as I suspect it was all made up. It was such a ridiculous and entertaining thread for most people, and was getting better with each post too. It was gone by the morning though because it was reported to oblivion. Shame!

Georgeandzippyzoo · 21/06/2023 23:09

Omg that is fantastic!🤣🤣

ifIwerenotanandroid · 21/06/2023 23:55

@MyWishIsMyCommand has reminded me of 'Pom Bear, anyone?' - has that been mentioned yet?

@Bluecapredcap We had neighbours who wanted to have half our garden, as it was bigger than theirs. At least they offered to pay for it, but it was a flat "No," from us. We bought the house partly for the garden which was just what we wanted - why should we let someone else have it?

There was a thread in which the OP was stalked around the supermarket by a CF new neighbour who wanted her kids to use the OP's much larger garden. People were saying she should because e.g. she had no grandchildren there, she had a trampoline (so did the neighbour - the MNers didn't seem to notice that), etc.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 22/06/2023 07:58

It was only one post, not a full thread, but when it comes to bonkersness, I'll never forget the mum who danced around naked in the changing room whilst playing the panpipes - in an attempt to comfort her (terrified) toddler!
