To tell those who lecture me on vaping to Fuck Off

I'm in my 50s and was a long term smoker. I switched to vaping in January. I am considerate and only vape outdoors and move away from other people or into a smoking area. People sometimes
comment, there's a brief convo around my giving up smoking, and 9 out of 10 respond nicely in a 'well done you' kind of way.

The 1 out of 10 though start lecturing me on the evils of vaping. These can be complete strangers, or acquaintances. They go on and on.
Usual themes:

1. Just as bad for you or worse for you than smoking.
2. Children are vaping.
3. Environmental impact of disposables.

I respond politely. I acknowledge there is a concern around all of this, and
1 - I know they aren't exactly good for me but I think they are not as bad as cigarettes, and it's my intension to also stop vaping this year
2 - I agree the manufacturer's should stop targeting non-smokers with the sweet flavours
3 - I agree, I use a rechargeable, but there's probably a lot more all of us could be doing for the environment.

But they do not let it drop. I've literally been lectured at on and on.

YANBU to stop being polite after my initial response and tell them that if I stopped vaping today, I'd be back on the fags tomorrow so mind their own fucking business?

It’s not that difficult giving up smoking I know because I did it 5 years ago and I smoked for 13 years and managed to do it without a vape just patches and lozenges other people choose to do it using a vape that’s their choice to make. People can’t win you complain when people are smoking and you complain when people are vaping pick a lane and stay in it.

My life is absolutely fine thank you i’m way too busy to be dragging up old threads and I’m not the one whinging about being bullied on here and then starting it all up again because you finally had some research to show us all, we’ll just gloss over the fact that it’s incomplete research that’s taken you 18 months to find 😂. It’s just absolutely laughable that you want to sit here and act like mother Theresa and tell everyone off for smoking and vaping it’s almost like you’ve forgotten that your talking to adults here who can make their own choices without you berating them for it because you don’t like it that’s you not us no one cares what you like or don’t like. You hate that people smoke and you hate that people vape you can’t have it both ways pick a lane and stay in it.

To anyone reading along, please do stick with vaping if you are using it to quit smoking. Do some research and look at evidence for yourself.

But first, learn the definition of evidence. It does NOT mean ‘it was written on the internet’
It means, peer-reviewed and published scientific research

And to save everyone from having an aneurysm, I’d say this thread is nearly over thank fuck

I just think that most smokers and vapers are selfish bastards. They’re not bothered about the trail of smoke/vape that they leave in their wake. It’s not fair on people who don’t want to stink of it and who might have medical issues.

Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily lecture, expect people to get annoyed at you when you’re vaping in their face. I wouldn’t cough in your face so don’t vape in my face.
