Neighbours windchime

It’s massive. It’s not even next door to me but the next one accross, terraced houses. It’s so loud. Luckily can’t hear it in the house but sat in garden and the slight bit of breeze and it’s all I can hear. Why?!?! Why have them in your garden?! They annoy other people! Tempted to have a fire in the garden tonight but really don’t want to upset my other nice neighbors. I just don’t get it. It’s so loud and so annoying!

Because other people like the sound of wind chimes? Get some earplugs if you’re bothered, it’s hardly the same as blasting out thudding music.

Daisydu · 15/06/2023 13:04

Yes ok get some ear plugs to sit in the garden with my kids.. yeah seems ok. Not. Why the hell should I. And my kids arnt overly noisy either. Got kids either side of me so everyone is noisy to a certain extent but wind chimes can hardly be compared to kids playing. I also don’t play music.

Also I love a bonfire in my garden… so it’s ok to just go ahead and do it even though it’s going to piss everyone off?

I can’t stand windchimes, really annoying noise.

LaLaLouella · 15/06/2023 13:06

It's irritating and thoughtless - of course you shouldn't have to wear earplugs in your own garden FFS!

Can you creep over and snip the strings in the dead of night....

Oh I’ve thought about it but I think I’d get caught lol. Tempted to send one of the kids over to do it

Environmental Health Dept?

Would they do anything?

OP posts:
FreddiesTeeth · 15/06/2023 13:09

Maybe they use the chimes to mask tinnitus or find other noises like kids playing annoying. Why not just have a word?

Thingsthatgo · 15/06/2023 13:10

Wind chimes give me absolute rage. I would rather screaming children or a barking dog. There's something about the plinky plonks sound of wind chimes that really winds me up!

Because he’s a drug dealer and looks a bit scary… 👀

Environmental Health Dept?

Environmental health might not exactly prioritise this Hmm

GoodChat · 15/06/2023 13:10

What kind of wind chime?
I like wooden ones (not in my garden) but hate the metal ones

jellyminelli · 15/06/2023 13:12

Scary drug dealer with a wind chime. How random.

It’s a massive metal one. Hard to describe the sound but it’s sort of like if you hit something metal against a lamppost over and over, it’s really loud and I can’t sit in my garden because of it which is crap

I'll take down my wind chime when my neighbour stops standing in his garden poking a barrel fire every time the sun comes out. I can only hope he finds it really irritating tbh.

user50316 · 15/06/2023 13:16

I love the sound of a wind chime but they go right through my DH 😂😂 Our old neighbours had a collection that I loved listening to but they drove him to insanity 🤣

I love having a fire. I used to have them a lot when we lived rural with no neighbour’s. Now we live with several close neighbour’s so I don’t have them here and I wouldn’t. I think it’s anti social but I do find it very therapeutic. If he was my only neighbour I’d probably light one up to be fair

Seriously, none of your neighbours love your windchimes 😂

I have done this. Drank too much rose wine in the garden with my neighbour and we snipped the strings on my other neighbours wind chimes. In my defence they were hanging from a tree right at the bottom of their garden but almost overhanging the side of my garden.

I hate the fucking things

He's not the only neighbour. It's a residential area and next door to him the other side are an elderly couple, both with breathing issues who also have to run around shutting windows and can't use their garden because he's out poking a random fire again.

Thats antisocial and stops people from sitting in gardens. Wind chimes I can take or leave.

Environmental health would probably be more worried about a bonfire in a garden and all the smoke pollution.

orangegato · 15/06/2023 13:28

Grinds my fucking gears people causing a noise nuisance. No one wants to listen to someone else’s windchime/music/radio. And no I won’t sit in my garden with earplugs thanks though.

Because that is causing enormous pollution and awful air quality. Bonfires should be banned, totally unnecessary.
