Neighbours windchime

It’s massive. It’s not even next door to me but the next one accross, terraced houses. It’s so loud. Luckily can’t hear it in the house but sat in garden and the slight bit of breeze and it’s all I can hear. Why?!?! Why have them in your garden?! They annoy other people! Tempted to have a fire in the garden tonight but really don’t want to upset my other nice neighbors. I just don’t get it. It’s so loud and so annoying!

Windchimes... how 1993.

Themsthebrakes · 15/06/2023 13:30

Could you describe it to me as I am looking for a really loud windchime. Is it copper tubes and bells and how long is it in length.

You could take it down and send it to me. 😂

MXVIT · 15/06/2023 13:31

"these windchimes are so annoying by the way can I light a huge FIRE in my garden thats ok right?"

have you actually, truly, heard yourself?

Somanysocks · 15/06/2023 13:31

I'd be more peed off with the fact that he's a drug dealer, they're scum of the world.

Whichclubisittonight · 15/06/2023 13:32

I dont particularly mind them. My neighbours have them, and I just assume they have them to drown out the noise of my kids on their squeaky trampoline (my kids arent on it all the time, but its still a noise that can be irritating). Neighbours also have barking dogs, so again, there has to be a bit of give and take.

Tinktravels · 15/06/2023 13:33

YABU its a windchime. How awful for you, not sure how you live in these conditions it must be so hard!

Daisydu · 15/06/2023 13:35

AdobeWanKenobi · 15/06/2023 13:23

He's not the only neighbour. It's a residential area and next door to him the other side are an elderly couple, both with breathing issues who also have to run around shutting windows and can't use their garden because he's out poking a random fire again.

Thats antisocial and stops people from sitting in gardens. Wind chimes I can take or leave.

You’re missing my point. I don’t do something I like doing, because I have consideration for others. People with stupid windchimes should be no exception

But I haven’t?!?! And wouldn’t.

My old neighbour had one of those Japanese water features that has a bamboo thing that fills with water and then goes "CLONK" really loudly every minute or so.

I never thought I'd be bothered by something that's supposed to be peaceful but I wanted to clonk him on the head with it eventually.

Blackbyrd · 15/06/2023 13:42

Wind chimes are a sure sign of the sort of entitled ignorant person that seems to be so prevalent nowadays . Maybe the ever decreasing wildlife doesn't want to listen to that pointless noise 24/7 either?

amluuui · 15/06/2023 13:48

Cut it down.

To all the people who say the OP is BU: your windchimes are twee, stupid and annoying.

DiscoBeat · 15/06/2023 13:51

he’s a drug dealer and looks a bit scary… 👀
At least he has wind chimes rather than a pit bull...
But joking aside I'm with you OP - they're unnecessary, annoying and not nice for birds either.

littleripper · 15/06/2023 13:52

Where we used to live the neighbour had them and this windmill things that made a really irritating noise. They were antisocial in loads of ways.
When we moved the woman who bought the house was warned about them before the sale. The first time they blocked her drive she walked straight up their front paths and cut the wind chimes down with gardening shears. When they dumped their rubbish in her skip she added their windmill to the skips as it was removed and replaced it with the rubbish. She was a fearless warrior and they moved after 6 months. I wish I'd had her bravery.

Febreezefantastic · 15/06/2023 13:56

YANBU

anything that causes an unnecessary nuisance to your neighbours is anti-social, or at best rude and entitled. Sadly, there's enough of these to make life difficult for everybody else.

If you like windchimes, keep them indoors.

Beware of CCTV absolutely everywhere, otherwise would be very tempted to dress like a ninja and go and rip the damn thing off in the middle of the night.

DiscoBeat · 15/06/2023 13:57

Anyway, tell him you like the chimes so much you've made your own. I reckon after an evening or two of listening to the delightful sounds of tin cans on the wind he'll take his down.

ex EHO with 20+ years experience in noise nuisance and statutory nuisance. yes, the noise of windchimes which are clearly audible in your garden and not your house could be considered a statutory noise nuisance under the environmental protection act 1990. so talk to them and ask their advice.

Well I’m sure you’re so perfect that nothing could ever annoy you.

I don't have windchimes currently (too windy where I live now) but I did at my previous house. Like others, I like the sound of them. I appreciate some people don't but that's tough, frankly. I had to tolerate people's kids screeching, lawnmowers at stupid times etc. It's part of living in a community.

Gherkingreen · 15/06/2023 14:01

In our first house about 25 years ago, we had a small wind chime, didn't realise it annoyed anyone until a neighbour said so.
We took it down, no issue, not worth falling out over.

PixieLaLa · 15/06/2023 14:03

Minikievs · 15/06/2023 13:22

Can you creep over and snip the strings in the dead of night....*
*
I have done this. Drank too much rose wine in the garden with my neighbour and we snipped the strings on my other neighbours wind chimes. In my defence they were hanging from a tree right at the bottom of their garden but almost overhanging the side of my garden.

I hate the fucking things

😂😂😂

Noorandapples · 15/06/2023 14:03

My old neighbours had wooden windchimes and I loved them. The family that moved in after them have three screaming kids, loud drunk parties, screaming matches and a cat that wees in my garden, attacks the birds and digs up my flowers. You can't control your neighbours!

we need a thread, strictly monitored, with information like this!

God awful things. Unpleasant and jarring to listen to.

Tinktravels · 15/06/2023 14:06

@Daisydu Actually things do annoy me, like someone that thinks the world revolves around them and everyone else shouldn't dare make a sound in case it disturbs them!
