I've currently got a large tub of Sudocrem propping open my sliding sash window because it won't stay up on its own!

Must look delightful to passers by.

Has anyone got any other suggestions on how to multi purpose things?

The unbroken wooden chopsticks that you get from a take away that still form a tethered < shape - for a cat food pouch emptying device.

open the top, slide the base of the pouch between the prongs and pull up and the two lengths of the chop sticks will squeeze the pouch as you pull so all the food comes out. No fiddling or flicking of the pouch and you don't ever get food on your hands. If any gets on the chop sticks they can go in the dishwasher.

Genius

I use a honey drizzler to hold my phone in the right position on the wireless charger.

It's only poo, it's not like she's fucking licking it off...

Absinth spoon (for melting sugar over the glass) makes a very handy mini slotted spoon for jars of olives, sundried tomatoes and the like.

So what persuaded you to give up your previous lifestyle?

Seriously, that is brilliant. I want one now!

I’m loving this thread 🧵

Pegs get used to close open bags / packets of almost anything, crisps, cobs, bread, packet mixes, cereal packets, nuts etc. Fold or twist the top and peg it to keep it from unfolding or untwisting.

Lol it's a relic from DH's previous life, mine wasn't nearly as exciting unfortunately!

I did go to an absinthe bar in NY once and tbh after that experience I much prefer its current use.

I use plastic kitchen tongs to get stuff high up that I can't reach

If I was more intelligent I'd put it somewhere I could easily reach

😐

Me too! I've gotten quite good at it and can get quite tricky/heavy things down with them now. 😂

I have to store things up high, I have a tiny tiny kitchen

Also use a chopstick to get stuck toast out of the toaster.

I use a corkscrew to get wall plugs out

UnctuousUnicorns · 15/06/2023 15:04

I use a mop or broom handle to knock the odd, dry item of clothing that I want, off the pulley, if I can't reach it, and can't be arsed letting the whole caboodle down.

Fruit bowls are used to accumulate Man Crap in my house. (Fruit is kept in the fridge). I should really just remove the bowls to remove the problem

PuttingDownRoots · 15/06/2023 15:22

A mop to clean the pool.

Not me, but “D”H, who, despite having a garage, workshop and toolshed, full to the brim with tools, finds that a dinner knife (the ones from the “nice” set) works just as well as a screwdriver: on the screw, that is. Some of the knife tips have been mangled because of this habit - Grrrrr😡

Sgtmajormummy · 15/06/2023 15:55

An old broom handle through the sleeves of judo jackets to help them dry faster and in the right shape. Also useful to hang excess washing/ironing in the utility room.
2kg of dry spaghetti in a vase as a knife holder.
2 old pillowcases sewn together and two old pillows to make a washable square dog bed.
I keep Quaker Oats canisters and Lidl yoghurt buckets but have run out of uses for them!

This has reminded me of another. Our kitchen windows are above our kitchen sink and I can shove them open but can't reach the handle to close them again, but I have a colander with a nice long handle that I can hold upside down and use the "bowl" of the colander to catch the window handle to pull it closed.

I also have an extendable window cleaner spongey thing that I keep in the bathroom for any time the ceiling gets mouldy, just a spray of mould remover and sweep it over the ceiling and it's sorted.

I use silicone tipped tongs to reach jars from high shelves in cupboards so I don't need to get a chair to stand on.
I then use the handle end loop, which also has silicone round it, to loop over the kitchen window to close it, as it's sometimes opened too far to reach.

Or remove the man. But seems a bit drastic 🤣.
