I don't think you need to understand it, I've been here over a year and I'm not entirely sure what Scuttlebuggers are either.
Just remember not to eat your greggs sausage roll whilst you are in your buggy and you'll be fine.

I think scuttlebugging is just a general chat thread. The fruit and veg is a thread of people trying to eat 10 pieces of fruit and veg a day. Flying is a housework thing, based on the FlyLady website.

They are just regular threads where like minded people come together. They usually start out as a simple thread but morph into regular things. I'm sure they are all very friendly and don't mind new people joining in.

TSG, the secret is, I think to pretend you know everything, even if you know nothing. Nobody's going to know any different, we really can't see you from our pcs, honest.

well it goes like this

Step 1: you see a thread title
Step 2: you open the thread
Step 3: you read the thread
Step 4: you understand what it's on about
Step 5: you join in or you don't

if step 4 doesn't work you post along the lines of 'what the fark are you on about?'

someone explains ... goto step 5

ok so just pretend im very funny and clever and witty and everyone will talk to me

See I always skip step 4 and just dive right in.

Fly is the equivalent of Fanny Craddock, 1950's suburban living

Songs of fruit and veg is the equivalent of a bunch of hippies spreading the word about how good it is to have a balanced diet of ... wait for it ... fruit ... and ... veg
