To kill this spider

Nc as I have shown everyone I know this photo in an attempt to get someone to evict it.

It's living right under my kitchen window and I cannot cope with the idea that it may come into the house. No one will get close enough to move it as its massive (large snail included for scale) so I'm at the stage of considering asking my dad to come round with some fly spray and kill it.

Does anyone know what kind of spider it is, even?

Why would you need your dad to come round? If you want to kill it then just kill it.

But since it is an outdoor spider, it won’t come and live in your house.

GreenSeaGlass · 11/06/2023 21:27

Ahh, don’t kill it. Try to catch it and put it out. It looks like a house spider. I hate them myself, but don’t want to kill them. It won’t hurt you.

It’s already outside, she’s worried it will come in!

Op where’s the line? At what point do you stop killing wildlife because it might come in your house? Just leave it alone, it will move itself soon.

SometimesIwonderifishouldbemedicated · 11/06/2023 21:29

Look at all the flies it has killed around ot, it won't come in sure it's getting fed there.
But I'd burn your house down if I were you.

Kanaloa · 11/06/2023 21:31

It’s just a spider. If it does come in, it’s not going to rob you or beat you up. I like to think of them as my fellow housekeepers, helping me to keep the fly population in check. The fly spray you want to use to kill it will be more harmful to you than the spider could ever be.

If you do want to kill it (I wouldn’t), you shouldn’t need to call your dad. Just squash it.

megacat · 11/06/2023 21:32

Don't be so ridiculous. And cruel.

joelmillersbackpack · 11/06/2023 21:32

It’s outside, leave it alone.

dudsville · 11/06/2023 21:32

Leave it. It's got a job to get on with.

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/06/2023 21:32

Just leave it to live it's spidery life- what terrible things will happen if it moves inside? You'll have less flies?

Oysterbabe · 11/06/2023 21:34

It won't come in, it's got a great spot. Leave it alone.

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/06/2023 21:34

And before the OP comes out with I'm seriously phobic bla bla bla. If you were phobic of dogs, would it be ok to kill a puppy if it wandered into your garden? No. Just leave it.

Changingplace · 11/06/2023 21:34

Don’t be so utterly ridiculous, leave it alone.

There’s a rhyme in my house:

if you want to live and thrive,
let a spider run alive.

chupachucks · 11/06/2023 21:35

OP don't be so ridiculous, that spider is not the slightest bit interested in coming in your house or near you.

It won't bite or come near you at all. Just look at it this way you know where it is, the huge big buggers that you can't see are already inside your house.

That spider now has a home range and that's it, if you shift it your make room forore to take that prime spot.

It's doing a job keeping other harmful insects out of your house leave it alone or it's family will come find you.

cuckyplunt · 11/06/2023 21:36

Leave it alone, otherwise I hope there is such a thing as Karma!

boymummy19 · 11/06/2023 21:36

Burning the house down is your only option

eandz13 · 11/06/2023 21:37

'Tis a giant house spider, completely harmless, gentle things and will actively avoid getting in your way. Please don't kill it!

SweetPetrichor · 11/06/2023 21:37

Leave it alone. It looks like a wolf spider at first glance, but whatever it is, it wants nothing to do with you. I actively try to pick up wolf spiders and they will skeddadle in the opposite direction. The can’t harm you. All the will do is live their short life and eat the pests.

Balloonhearts · 11/06/2023 21:39

I can't get close enough to kill it, I'm terrified of them. I can do rodents, I can do reptiles but not spiders. I think its the way they move. I'd much prefer to evict it but literally no one will go near it when they see the size of the fucker. Can't avoid it as I have to read the meter every few weeks.

ComeOnThenFanny · 11/06/2023 21:39

Please don't kill it. I hate spiders, they make me really anxious and panicky - but I never kill them! It has as much right to roam the earth as you do. They do a great job, just let it be.

Balloonhearts · 11/06/2023 21:42

Ok wolf spider. They live outside right? I can work with outside as long as it lets me read the meter without moving and giving me a heart attack.

I'm fairly sure that's a bird eating tarantula

webster1987 · 11/06/2023 21:44

Kill it KILL it.

Balloonhearts · 11/06/2023 21:45

@MidnightMeltdown 😂 I think I'd prefer a tarantula! The RSPCA might take it away then!
