To kill this spider

Nc as I have shown everyone I know this photo in an attempt to get someone to evict it.

It's living right under my kitchen window and I cannot cope with the idea that it may come into the house. No one will get close enough to move it as its massive (large snail included for scale) so I'm at the stage of considering asking my dad to come round with some fly spray and kill it.

Does anyone know what kind of spider it is, even?

We had a big male house spider in the kitchen, not long ago. My daughter (10) was squealing excitedly for me to come and look and then told the dog to leave the spider, which I ushered to a gap in the skirting.

Nah, we're just tired of useful, totally beneficial, creatures being unnecessarily killed and nerve toxins being sprayed around all over the place and it being made out to be the normal, default response/a cause for 'humour'.

We need spiders. We need insects. The world needs them.

I know, and I'm not necessarily saying she should kill it but there's a fair lack of compassion in this thread. If any of you have a phobia of anything, just, y'know, get over it mentality. By the very nature of anything a phobia is not rational. A lot of people are phobic about cats. I love cats but would never tell someone to basically get over themselves if they are phobic.

And, no, I wouldn't tell someone to kill a cat if there is one on their garden, before you start

I’m terrified of a few people. Kill them isn’t my go to though.

They are sympathetic. Towards the defenceless little spiders. The people are big enough to take of themselves.

Don't be silly. The OP asked whether she ought to kill a spider. Most people have replied no, obviously.
