I don't get it. Both are charlatans but seem to have a core fan base.

If you're one, can you say why and do you believe they tell the truth?

YABVU. You won't get a sensible logical answer to the question.
But at least they both know what a woman is and for.

Well Trump seems to think women are for the taking whether they want it or not. I am as GC as you can get but I don't want to be on the side of Trump.

determinedtomakethiswork · 14/07/2023 18:51

I think it's really sad in a way that people who vote for Boris and Trump are not generally people who Boris and Trump would want anything to do with in their personal lives. People always says that they could go to the pub with Boris but the fact is he wouldn't want to go to the pub with most of us.

Rhondaa · 14/07/2023 18:54

'You do realise that poster was paraphrasing Trump, right?'

I do realise yes. It's not a good look though is it, right?

TheWernethWife · 14/07/2023 18:56

My english daughter's texan in-laws worship Trump, best president ever in their opinion.

That is quite correct, you have identified why these people are so keen to identify what a woman is.

@Janiie do you also realise that your hero is a liar and a lawbreaker?

Thatgirl1981 · 14/07/2023 19:03

He's not my hero hun. He was however an excellent PM we can only thank God wibbly Starmer wasn't at the helm telling everyone not to come out until 2027.

All of those things (and worse) could be leveled at Trump.

So why Trump?

So despite lying about his illegal behaviour you still maintain he was an excellent PM.
Was it the appointment of a known sex pest to a position of authority in the parliamentary party that made him an excellent PM?

Rhondaa · 14/07/2023 19:09

'So despite lying about his illegal behaviour '

You see I don't bow to the Mets knowledge and behaviour so sorry not sorry I could not give a rat's ass about uneaten cake in an office.

I think a lot of their core fanbase are deep down quite miserable and love Trump/Johnson because they are driven by spite. They like the fact T/J kick ‘others’ because it makes them feel better about their own lives.

However, people like T/J. care for nobody but themselves. They even treat their children and wives badly so why would strangers think they care for them?

When normal folk can’t see a doctor, their kids are addicted to opioids and there’s no way of holding the companies to account as the stakes are set against the little guy, they aren’t entitled to any state support when they have cancer, they’re extracting their own teeth because they can’t afford dentists, their raped DD can’t get an abortion etc then they realise that voting for people because they are ‘funny’ or they are ‘owning the libs’ is stupid.

Even billionaires must be realising proper governance and ‘red tape’ isn’t left wing bullshit after the titanic submersible disaster.

People who still support T\J currently must be full blown end of days nihilists at this point.

NotTooOldPaul · 14/07/2023 19:15

I think Boris had a personality which is more than many politicians have. If he thought something was right he would go for it
I would not vote for him as while I admire his dogged determination I disagree with him on most things.

Piggywaspushed · 14/07/2023 19:23

My BIL voted for Trump. He is basically a very conservative racist. He believes all the conspiracy theories.

His wife is a Mexican very devout Catholic. They think the democrats are anti marriage and pro abortion. Despite all Trump's bile about Mexicans, lots of Hispanic people in the US voted Trump.

The rest of my US relatives hate Trump. Some are still Republicans, mind.

Yes of course he is the same demographic that voted for Obama turned into foaming racists

yeah sure

trump got the biggest share of the black and Hispanic vote no doubt the Asian vote due to the literal racism towards them by the left

Piggywaspushed · 14/07/2023 19:36

I have no idea what you mean.

He didn't vote for Obama. Hates him.

Piggywaspushed · 14/07/2023 19:37

Are you sure Trump got the biggest share of the Black vote?

If by "right" you mean "serves his own interests" then yes.

His support for Brexit wasn't genuine - the only thing he supports is himself.

You state this like it's a fact you believe. That's quite worrying.

Are there other laws that it is acceptable for the Prime Minister to break?

tanstaafl · 14/07/2023 20:49

Not a supporter of any kind for Johnson.
He was ( IMO ) used simply as the alternative to Corbyn.
Of course once he’s PM he’s hardly going to want to give it up.

Think it reflects badly on the UK that he lasted so long.

Trump, I live in UK so my ‘knowledge’ of Trump comes from both pro and anti information sources.
He seemed to pitch himself as ‘not a politician but a businessman’.
That seemed to chime with voters?

I read that he was the first US president in a long time not to engage the US in any new military conflict.
He put restrictions in place with China.
Years ago, he was telling Germany they were over reliant on Russian energy, the Germans were laughing.

Churchill had some objectionable views I think.
Should people be worth only their worst opinion?

Clavinova · 14/07/2023 20:51

Begsthequestion
like it's a fact you believe. That's quite worrying

Why is it 'quite worrying'? Quite worrying would be a 'fact' that was way off the mark - sounds pretty close from the link above;
All-in-all, Trump garnered 26% of the non-white vote in 2020. This is a respectable showing, by recent Republican standards; indeed, it’s the second-best showing recorded by exit polls since 1976, behind George W. Bush's 28% in 2004.

(NB I don't support Trump - or Biden. I do rather like Hillary Clinton and Boris Johnson.)

Keir Starmer initially claimed there were 'about 6' people with him enjoying a beer and curry in Durham - when in fact there were 16 people with him. Starmer's false fact is 'quite worrying'.

Bovrilla · 14/07/2023 20:51

Yep. I know people where Boris lives who say he's a good neighbour, joins in and seems an ok kind of bloke.

I reckon in 2 minute bursts away from work he might be, but he's a lying, incompetent fool beyond the most superficial interaction.

Have you formed an opinion on lying to Parliament yet?
