I don't get it. Both are charlatans but seem to have a core fan base.

If you're one, can you say why and do you believe they tell the truth?

I looked for a summary of Carlson’s texts and quoted from one of the first results. The same text messages seem to appear verbatim in many other articles. What, exactly, is your problem with me copying them from that particular source, oh great critical thinker?

Looks like I have touched a nerve, yet you unironically summed it up pretty much, I was implying that your no doubt PHD education has little knowledge other than google responses and quoting the nymag is just akin to brits providing daily mail links, it's OK to be a shitlib as long as you own it, the beauty for you is that you can name change come next election,

Again, just bizarre ad hoc attacks based on your deeply ingrained personal biases, without anything resembling an actual point being made.

I didn't realise MN has been infiltrated by r/politics bots as much as I had

Do you actually mean you have been infiltrated by r/politics bots (in which case you might want to alert a medic, or possibly someone for an exorcism)? Or is it just that your grammar is as atrocious as your 'critical thinking'?

Did you want to answer the OP's question?

OCaptain · 16/07/2023 02:09

Justanotherlurker · 15/07/2023 23:17

I didn't realise MN has been infiltrated by r/politics bots as much as I had until I read the previous posts, if you had the finger on the pulse of the real left wing politics in the US you would understand that Trump is a distant memory.

In fact, I have seen a reworded copy and paste bullet points from one of the above posts called out and downvoted in the most shitlib subs that is /r/sanfran

This isn't intelligent 'critical thinking; going on, this is adding to the added 'peak MN' when combined with political talk.

Finger on the pulse of left wing politics? Or right-wing politics? Which pulse of politics would we need to gauge the popularity of Trump? Personally, I don't believe he's a distant memory but very much a threat - even as he faces charges on many sides. (BTW - I'm not a r/politics bot - that's a grotesque place. I'm more into the r/cats sections.)

Johnson's ex wife was diagnosed with cancer a year after they separated. Please get your facts right or else you show yourself up saying 'fucking' and 'pussy'. Are you 15?

Anyway back to the op. Couldn't care less about The Donald, Johnson however was a brilliant PM who got us through covid when Labour would still have us meeting in groups of 6, he was shafted by a hysterical leftie media featuring Cake Boy Paul Brand, an 'impartial' report from Sue (chief of staff for Labour) and a 'impartial' committee headed by Harriet 'I hate Johnson' Harman. Impartial.

Were the Paterson and Pincher sagas samples of his brilliance?

He was given the chance to have Harman stand down and didn't take it, so he clearly thought she was sufficiently impartial on the Conservative majority committee.

@Clavinova have you had time to form an opinion on appointing a known sex pest to a position of responsibility yet?

To be fair, she has told us. She thinks it was "unwise" and "an error of judgment". Yes folks, if you are PM and get caught out countless times in lies and dodgy allocation of government contracts, and suffer a vote of no-confidence from 70% of your back benchers, it is merely unwise to appoint a known sex pest to a position of power over juniors, send ministers out to lie for you, and have 54 ministers resign as a result.

Will she have similar views on Romford Tory MP Andrew Rosindell?

'Bring back Boris!' Theresa May should pay for the groping Deputy Chief Whip scandal not Johnson... says ALEX STORY, the victim who helped expose it.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11044363/Bring-Boris-Theresa-pay-Chris-Pincher-scandal-says-victim-groping-MP.html

The somewhat major difference is that Theresa May didn't send junior ministers out to lie about it. Nor did she have anything like Boris's long history of lies and cock-ups behind her. Nor were her ministers so disgusted by her behaviour that they resigned en masse.

Plus can we truly say they lie, because usually it's down to interpretation, if I specifically say the weather is wet today and someone quotes me as saying I said its raining then I can say I didn't say those specific words etc.

Yes, we can truly say that both Trump and Johnson lie, because we have heard them lying over and over again.

It could be debated that they are no different than the majority of the public in that respect.

No, the majority of the public haven't lied to Parliament or the Queen.

Probably, and because it could also be debated that people presume what's in the papers and presume it's the truth, the whole truth and noting but the truth.

Anxioys · 17/07/2023 17:18

No come on. If you cannot believe your PM then there are real problems in the UK. We have a real issue of public trust, and the next couple of years are going to show that lying with Johnson wasn't a habit so much as something he didn't even notice.

The papers are just full of government press releases written by desperate special advisers. Dig even a little and there will be very different picture.

Piggywaspushed · 17/07/2023 17:29

The point is that politicians are in public service. They are supposed to be held to far higher standards than the rest of us. Don't know about you, but any lies I tell aren't going to affect anyone at a national or international level, or endanger the populace, groups, or individuals.

Biden is a little old man that should be in a nursing home. I cannot believe how someone like him can be running a country. So it begs the question, who is really running the show?

Word has it , Obama.

SingingNettles · 17/07/2023 20:15

I don’t know why people, particularly Trump supporters, find it so hard to believe Biden is doing his job. For all that’s made of his ‘cognitive decline’, he bested Trump is the pre-election debates. He is absolutely prone to word salads and becoming momentarily muddled, but I don’t see any reason to think he isn’t doing his job. Trump also frequently misspoke.

Trump seemed to spend most of his presidency shitposting on Twitter, watching tv, playing golf and hosting rallies.

Hawkins0001 · 17/07/2023 20:20

The playing golf is one method of having informal talks with different delegates.

Fair points, but then as with the books by Stella Remington as an example with different state and none state actors with different strategies etc, the public cannot always know the full truth of it all.

Most of the people he golfed with during his administration were professional golfers, tv hosts and other celebrities (I acknowledge that he sometimes golfed with other politicians, too).
