To ask if you support Trump or Boris Johnson, to explain why?

I don't get it. Both are charlatans but seem to have a core fan base.

If you're one, can you say why and do you believe they tell the truth?

I think the Russian question would be best levied at the current administration, don't you think?

Why?

Russia was at war with and committing atrocities in Ukraine while Trump was president, and in that time became a more hostile nation.

@Glowie im assuming you’re on the wind up as you can’t possibly believe that crap you wrote about January 6th? He absolutely incited them - and it wasn’t just a few crazies, there were terrifying numbers of them.

Worth doing some research into this stuff.

Right back at you.

Show me the evidence that he invited them.
Show me the dead bodies.

One of us has researched, the other has read the BBC.

Zero Russian invasions while he was president.

The same cannot be said for Obama or Biden.

Well its taken a year

No it hasn't - I posted a year ago that I thought it was poor judgment when Boris Johnson appointed Chris Pincher - you posted 8 minutes after me on the same thread - I've just checked. I'm still confused as to which one of the above I should have supported instead.

Citation needed. You have no idea what he campaigns on.

They wanted:
A big beautiful wall - partially achieved
Lower taxes - achieved
Cheaper insulin - achieved
Energy independence - achieved
Lower prices - achieved
American jobs - achieved
No new wars - achieved
Steps toward peace with hostile nations - achieved

I'm sure there's more but all I can quickly think of off-hand.

This is what his voters want, so I have to ask what your problem is with the above?

OK, so we have so far established that two of your claims are nonsense.

Lets now consider the wall.
During Trump's time in office $15billion dollars was taken for the DoD budget for the wall. 456 miles were built. Some of that replacing existing barriers.
I am not sure if his fan base would be happy with building a wall on 25% of the length of the border or not, perhaps you could advise?

In the interests of accuracy its not repeated questions, its the same question that @Clavinova has been asked many times over the past year. They prefer to post irrelevant links from their spreadsheet.

Incorrect again. What we HAVE established is that all you have nothing to add to this conversation.

Steps toward peace: Relations with NK and Saudis were improved under Trump, and he got Russia to stop invading Ukraine for 4 years.

i stand corrected, you keep asking her the same question. You’re also not answering hers. That makes you just as bad.

I’ve lost count of how many times you’ve said ‘lies, breaking the law, liar’

They give people simple answers in a complicated world. They're like nursery rhymes when everything else is Stravinsky.

People like a rule breaker who gets away with it too, people who go by the book are boring.

I wouldn't vote for either of them but it's not that hard to understand.

I think this music analogy has it in a nutshell. I don't like either of them, but they speak directly and forcefully (well, Trump does) like many 'ordinary' people do, without attempted smoothness or wriggly diplomacy. They appear to 'tell it like it is'. Boris's 'get Brexit done' had this appeal, but of course it wasn't that simple (and still isn't done).

Nat6999 · 14/07/2023 23:44

My mum's friend voted Conservative because she thought Boris would sort the country out. If she comes round & I'm there I have to suddenly disappear upstairs for something, I'm staunch Labour & can't be in her company, she also watches Talk TV & GB News.

Ah, so the previous posters definition of energy independence was wrong.
I can't help but notice the sharp increase in US energy production in the years proceeding Trumps presidency, so the continued increase in his time may of course have had absolutely nothing to do with him.

and he got Russia to stop invading Ukraine for 4 years.

This statement is so staggeringly ignorant it is hard to know where to start with it.

And yet you still support Johnson even though his judgement was so poor he appointed a known sex pest to a position of responsibility and then insisted his ministers went out and lied about it.
At least you know it is poor judgement, do you know why you think this makes Johnson a suitable person to be Prime Minister?

Florenz · 14/07/2023 23:52

I think the point is why do the politicians on the left come across as so... weird? Asocial, asexual and with a total inability to connect with people. Boris and Trump might be bullshit artists but at least they have some kind of personality.

Its factual accurate to say that Johnson broke the law and lied about it.

Why some posters on here continue to defend such behaviour is an interesting question.

pleasedontoutmeguys · 15/07/2023 00:11

From what I understood at the time, we had just had years of Obama and Cameron who, although different, were career politicians, very smooth and diplomatic in what they said. I think Trump and Boris couldn't have been further than that. They engaged the 'tell it like it is' people who also respect Clarkson, Katie Hopkins and Piers Morgan. People that spout views so odious that people assume they cannot be liars. People were wrong.
I, as a South American, could not understand why Trumps overt racism wasn't more of an issue in the UK. He said that if someone like my son came into their country then he would likely be a drug dealer or criminal. I can only imagine it is because British people don't know enough Latino people to have been outraged.
