To not paint my toenails for my friends wedding tomorrow

First world problem I know! I have painted my fingernails a lovely red but I have lost my toe separators and find painting my toes boring, plus I have a 10 month old baby who makes every task 10x more difficult to complete! My toes will be on show as I have sandals to wear with my dress tomorrow.

UABU- paint your toenails to match your fingernails
UANBU- nude toenails are fine

OP, you clearly don't want to paint your toenails so don't paint your toenails!

Personally I never bother with my fingernails beyond some clear varnish but my toenails are always a harlot's colour of red or plum.

I'm confused, OP. Can't you paint your nails in a different room from your sleeping baby? Or let him cry a bit at 10mo? Whether you actually paint your nails or not seems irrelevant.

I don’t like gels as they make you go back to get them removed and I don’t want that commitment tbh. You could leave them and they grow out and start looking nasty. Would rather bare nails than grown out polish!

Don't bother - it's really not important. Another unnecessary burden on women's time.

Yeah it's ridiculous, but unfortunately there's a lot of judging of women who don't conform to whatever the current grooming trend is. Especially among very young women.

Up to you but I couldnt wear any shoes that would show my toes without gel on them. I havent been able to do mine for the past week for various reasons and have actually had to plan outfits around not wearing sandals. So pleased I gelled them this morning in time for the weekend.

I have never painted my toenails. But think the last time I did my fingernails was when I was 17, almost 30 years ago!

We are so conditioned to need silly standards of ornamentation and grooming. Why do we buy into it?

I get 'I like it and I do it for me' but 'urgh' and 'i couldn't stand it' is an odd way to react to something totally normal.

I have one coat on, (none of this base-coat/top/coat business) it literally took about three minutes to apply. It takes longer to dry but I just walk about with no shoes on until it is, it's not complicated... looks fine from where I'm standing and I don't think anyone will be looking much closer.

I would totally notice, and I would totally judge you! However the sky won’t fall in, and presumably you give no fucks about a randoms opinion, so live on the edge and leave them, lol.

Literally nobody will care or even notice. If you do it you’re doing it for yourself so you may as well get on with it. If you feel happy and confident without needing to paint then go for it.

I know few think like me on this, but I dislike nail polish.

But what is the judgement you are making? Do you think it looks lazy or something? What else is compulsory at a wedding for you? Earrings? Lipstick? A particular sized bag?

I don't get it.

If you have yellow or manky toenails, it's unattractive unisexually, doesn't mean you're a bad person but fungus is never going to be sexy and needs medical attention as it could be a sign of a bigger issue and usually progresses and gets worse.
I had a woman stare at my lovely unpainted toenails it was so funny she was climbing the stairs and staring. I gave her a little wiggle. 😂

Roll a sheet of kitchen roll or tissue up and weave it through your toes, one over, one under, to separate them.
Whether you paint them or not is totally up to you. I would paint them to match my finger nails if I was wearing open toed shoes to a wedding, but that's just personal choice. As you can see by the other responses nobody will really notice or care.

I have to be similarly honest and say that I’m judging you for thinking something like this is important. It makes me think that you have an internalised idea that womens worth and value is in how they look, and that you don’t even realise that there are other options. But I may be wrong and am genuinely interested to understand this kind of comment?

It doesn't matter how long toenails take to dry in summer, you aren't putting socks on at any time! You can go barefoot or chuck flip flops on until they're rock hard.

Obviously OP isn't arsed but just wanted to mention that minor point.

No one will notice or care.

But I don't think toe separators are necessary, I don't use them and don't make a mess.

I’m with you @Fererr. Not keen on nail polish on fingers or toes and really don’t like gels, acrylics or other plastic nails.

I don’t think I have ever looked at someone else’s toenails, however healthy and trimmed they are, and swooned, or thought the other person superior for having “naturally good toenails”

My top tip is to paint them whilst you are wearing flip flops. Separate toes with loo roll, paint them then carry on doing what you want till they dry and you can remove the paper.
