To ask what irritating things do you unashamedly do?

I'll go first. I love puzzles. Every time I get a piece that fits I'll celebrate with three little taps on the piece with my fingernail. Every time. It must be infuriating to witness.

I also crack my toes and wrist joints which does drive dh crazy. I do my best not to in his presence, so not exactly done unashamedly..

I tap the backs of books when I am reading them with my fingers. It makes a really satisfying noise which plays to my mild OCD.

It’s probably really irritating to be around.

On the other hand if we all pandered to the off the chart levels of misophonia which people seem to have these days we would all be rigid and immobile when in public spaces for fear of triggering someone and life is too short.

Hover waiting to clean up a mess before it's even finished being made.

"Hover waiting to clean up a mess before it's even finished being made."

Hi, Mum. 👋

golddustwomen · 03/06/2023 11:47

I move everything. Rearrange things all the time. Drives my oh batty but he never puts anything away so it's actually his own fault Grin

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 03/06/2023 11:48

According to some recent posters, breathing whilst being over seventy.

PauliesWalnuts · 03/06/2023 11:52

I interrupt people. Constantly. I can’t help it. Don’t even realising that I’m doing it until someone pulls a face or tuts.

Patty101 · 03/06/2023 11:52

Crack my knuckles.

And stretch-yawn really loudly. Can't beat a good stretch-yawn, not just first thing in a morning (although that one is definitely the most enjoyable) but any time I feel like it, wherever I am, however quiet the room may be. I bet people in my office can't stand it when I'm in 😆

BeverlyHa · 03/06/2023 11:54

Being happily married, down to earth, responsible, having gorgeous and polite kids, you name it. This always will annoy someone

Sorry are you over 70? Bog off. Grin Kidding! Smile I know what you mean @Allthegoodnamesarechosen there have been some very ageist threads on here this past few days. Flowers

SweetBirdsong · 03/06/2023 11:59

@ChilliHealer In answer to your question. I sing along to my MP3 player, which really annoys DH when he can hear it from the lounge (and I'm in the kitchen!) I don't mean to to do it but I am very musical! Grin

Thehonestybox · 03/06/2023 12:00

I just ghost people or go on airplane mode when I'm invited to something I don't want to go to instead of declining.

UnctuousUnicorns · 03/06/2023 12:00

If the TV/radio/device I am listening to has a volume control with a numerical value, it has to be set at a number ending in either 0, 5 or an even. No odd numbers (bar 5). I have to check and adjust it accordingly or I can't relax. Don't ask why. DH thinks I'm batshit. 😂

This it true. Some people just can't and won't accept that some people are genuinely very happy married and have lovely polite well-behaved children. Must be lying. Grin

EthicalNonMahogany · 03/06/2023 12:02

Oh god. I turn the volume down of everything all the time. I don't put things away. I open windows and doors and shut and open curtains to have exactly the right environment in terms of light, airflow etc.

declutteringmymind · 03/06/2023 12:04

I do things that irritate me as much as other people.

Forgetting to switch appliances on. So I'll fill the dishwasher or washing machine and come back to it and realise I've not switched it on.

Never taking things out of the car.

Interrupting

Generally oversharing. Although I keep this to a few people now. I'm learning.

buddyhollysglasses · 03/06/2023 12:06

Scratch & Sniff. But doesn't everyone secretly?

UnctuousUnicorns · 03/06/2023 12:07

Also, if I'm listening to music, excepting a genuine emergency, you do not disturb me until the end of the song currently playing. If I'm listening to an album I am not available for its duration (again, barring emergencies). That is a given in this house.

PumpkinSpiceLattePlease · 03/06/2023 12:08

Oh god, everything!

Performance sneezing, hot drink slurping, repeating words/phrases, constant picking/scratching, copying someones accent, fidgeting, interrupting, asking the same question over and over, stimming, groaning when sick, leaving a trail of mess behind me, forgetting things.....

I do try to reign it all in when socialising but it takes a herculean effort. Thankfully I live alone with 2 young dc, but I can imagine they'll be sick of me once they reach a certain age. Or make a tiktok account to mock me.

Breathing under 70 pisses a few people off I know. I shall keep doing it for a while longer.

Me too. I'm on a constant mission to find the perfect organisation solution. (I'm actually not that tidy, somehow I've convinced myself that I just have to find the right way to oragnise our things and then it will all fall into place). And then I get irritated that OH doesn't put things in the right places but I can hardly blame him. 😆

Champagneforeveryone · 03/06/2023 12:14

I twizzle my pen, very inexpertly as it turns out so my colleagues are treated to a regular tinkling of pen on wooden desk.

In a bid to be less annoying I now have a metal Parker pen which is much harder to twizzle. I only realised a couple of nights ago that I now bounce it on the button where it makes a pleasing plonk, plonk, plonk, plonk noise. I'm otherwise a model colleague 😆

GodSaveTheClean · 03/06/2023 12:14

I am incredibly messy personally but I like communal areas of the home to be clean and tidy always.

ChilliHealer · 03/06/2023 12:21

I think I've found my people 😄
