To ask what irritating things do you unashamedly do?

I'll go first. I love puzzles. Every time I get a piece that fits I'll celebrate with three little taps on the piece with my fingernail. Every time. It must be infuriating to witness.

I also crack my toes and wrist joints which does drive dh crazy. I do my best not to in his presence, so not exactly done unashamedly..

I also put the tv volume on an odd number because it bothers people a silly amount. My favourite is 19.

Tessisme · 04/06/2023 08:51

I nod and react when people are telling me stuff. I am very convincing. Then I have to ask them to repeat it because I haven't heard a single word, which draws some very puzzled looks due to aforementioned great acting skills😅😅

sammylady37 · 04/06/2023 09:41

I post on MUMSnet despite not having children. It seems to really annoy some people 🤷‍♀️

😂 Are you my husband? 😅 I swear sometimes he never listens to a bloody word I say, by the number of times I have to repeat myself. 😤 He's a uni lecturer, was WFH having an online discussion with a student when i heard him say, "You haven't been listening to me." Oh, how I snorted. 🙄

Mind, I am guilty of the non-commital nodding and smiling myself sometimes. I was recently at a gig by my favourite singer, and had brought a live concert cd for him to sign afterwards. He asked me what I thought of it. I could only nod and smile, as I didn't want to admit that I hadn't actually got around to listening to it yet. 😳 😅

MyUsernameIsBetterThanYours · 04/06/2023 13:49

I stop listening to people half way through them saying something. I'm actually a bit embarrassed by it though... my mind just drifts off and I know people have noticed because they've said they can see my eyes suddenly glaze over 😳

Unashamed things: burping loudly. But only at home.

@MyUsernameIsBetterThanYours

if you really want a solution???

you need to declutter. You can't itganuse your way out if too much stuff . Sorry.

watch some of Dana K Whites you tubes. she Explains her method. Progress & only progress (so you never make a big mess! & 'container concepts'.

if you have trouble finding them PM me & I can help. Alternatively she has podcasts & books.

@SuperbSummer2023

Oh you're absolutely right. We're kind of at a middling level of clutter. Recent baby and returning to work hasn't helped things. Also, I think being at home so much now that we're wfh more and doing less social stuff (see: baby) has made me really sensitive to the house environment. Decluttering is on the list for June/July for sure! Thanks for the recommendations.

Vitriolinsanity I bet your stories are interested though. I'm convinced my epic tales are 🥧

Funkyslippers · 04/06/2023 16:00

*interesting I mean 🙂

I live in a terrace and have wind chimes in my front and back gardens

Tiny2018 · 08/08/2023 00:10

After a conversation takes a natural end and everyone's looking around for a new conversation starter I hum in upbeat tones because the silence makes me feel awkward.

CrazyFrogDingDing · 08/08/2023 00:29

Every time I sit down, I cross one leg over the other, but then I can't help wagging my foot side to side really fast.
Or if I'm sat on say a dining chair, I bring my foot up to tip toe, then shake it up and down, so now my whole leg is at it.
It drives my husband insane, but I don't realise I'm doing it.

Overthinkingperhaps · 08/08/2023 00:29

I can't have the volume on the radio, TV etc on an odd number. Drives me crazy.

I'm always late or just about on time.

And I forever interrupt or try to finish others sentences.
The last 2 I wonder if it's an adhd thing as I'm starting to suspect that I have adhd.

Other than those I'm a pure delight.

helpfully my kids have been telling me all the ways I annoy them

-bring any subject back to whether they’ve done their homework
-every time anyone mentions genes or DNA I hit them with the shared banana DNA ‘fact’
-going on and on and on about people leaving stuff lying about while leaving stuff lying about

that’s me told 😬

Now I absolutely have to know the shared banana DNA fact

According to MN, that makes you the spawn of satan. On par with someone who owns a loo brush! Wink

MooseBreath · 08/08/2023 03:30

I have a seemingly "American" accent. It's Canadian, but it still seems to generate a lot of eye rolls in the UK.

I have a naturally loud voice and sometimes forget my volume control.

I am a tap dancer and absentmindedly practice steps and combinations while sitting.

I create a lot of clutter.

I used to do that loads at school, I don't think the teachers ever noticed though; it wasn't in their line of sight, under the desks.

"I can't have the volume on the radio, TV etc on an odd number. Drives me crazy."

I think I posted this same quirk earlier in this thread; I hate it too. Although I will allow 5 and 0. Don't ask about the logic. 🤷‍♀️

According to some recent posters, breathing whilst being over seventy.

There was a poster who sent that she wouldn't take any medication after the age of 70, clearly thinking people of that age should not prolong their life.

JaceLancs · 08/08/2023 10:36

Tidy up and hide things! Move things so the mess isn’t spread as far
if people leave things lying around instead of putting them away then it’s fair game
