Nose piercing at 45?

posting for traffic

have been considering getting my nose (nostril) pierced for about 25 years. I’m 45 now and feeling that if I’m going to do it I should just do it!

I work in a professional role but have crazy coloured hair that doesn’t raise many eyebrows these days. Peers at work have nose piercings (but I assume had them from young). A colleague is getting visible tattoos at 50.

so, should I go for it or would I be ridiculous to do it?

I got my nose pierced at 44. Do it!

I had mine redone at 41, go for it! I’m 47 now and love my piercings 😀

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 03/06/2023 08:50

Do it.

I work with several women who have retired and come back as bank, they all have their noses pierced.

Im 41 and have mine pierced although I'm constantly losing the bloody things!

I love nose piercings and think they look good on all ages. Only reason I don't have one is a horrible nose I don't want to draw attention to!

Was it very painful?

Oh god no why would you do that to yourself?!

MissBridgetJones · 03/06/2023 08:51

Do it xx

I'm 41 and I've been thinking about doing it too

KimberleyClark · 03/06/2023 08:52

If you want it go for it. Your age is irrelevant!

Why does anyone do anything?

Just do it! And if you hate it, you can take it out!

OhDoh · 03/06/2023 08:52

Do It!

To be perfectly honest, it was fairly painful but only for a second, and the worst thing was that my eyes watered like mad just after! My tragus (cartilage) piercing hurt more, so it wasn't too bad for me.😊

HollyHocks13 · 03/06/2023 08:54

I just had mine repierced at 45, I love it. Make sure you get it done at a proper piercer with a needle rather than a gun and you'll be fine!

mayflowergardens · 03/06/2023 08:54

Go for it!

I want double ear piercings, for some reason have never got round to it, am thinking of going with my teenage daughter next time she goes to get her inevitable next set, I'm 48 and feel embarrassed, but at the same time, who gives a monkeys?

Curtainpoles · 03/06/2023 08:54

I am 34 with a nose piercing and am sure I will still have it at 41. I love it, it's my favourite piercing so far.
Yes getting it done hurts initially but I found the pain quickly went away and it's not a place that usually "catches" on things - unlike the piercing at the top of my ear which hurt for ages and caught itself all the time.
Do it!

But not afterwards? I’ve read that it takes 6 months to heal and I’m imagining it will be painful for a while after being done?

Do what makes you happy! You can always take it out. I got my tongue pierced as a teenager after wanting it for ages. Took it out the same day but hey, I gave it a go! haha. You might aswell give it a try!

AConstantGreyInTheClouds · 03/06/2023 08:55

I hate nose piercings. BUT, if I liked them and wanted one, I’d get one. I think after 25 years of wanting one, you know you really want one, so go for it!

gaggiagirl · 03/06/2023 08:55

Do it! It's not very painful at all. It's over with very quickly. Make sure you choose a piercing studio with a good reputation they will put you at ease.
I have a ring in my nostril that I got in my late 30s no one really noticed it they presumed it had always been there.
Go for it.

Needle only here. DD had to wait till she was 10 to get hers done because I said no guns. (I have a severe nickel allergy that I think was caused by my gun piercings as a teen.)

I was advised to take mine out in the nineties by a recruiter, eventually it closed up because I always forgot to put it back. Am now 50 and was talking to a friend the other day about possibly getting it redone. I loved it so much, and was gutted when it closed up.

Go for it!

Polkadottyas · 03/06/2023 08:58

Had mine done at 40. Love it. Really sharp aim for a second or two but not a minute of bother with it after that. The only issue I've had was with helix piercings. Bloody painful. Now healed up

usernother · 03/06/2023 08:58

If you want to do it go for it. But I always think that unless you're close up to someone, nose rings look like bits of snot dangling from a nostril.
