Nose piercing at 45?

have been considering getting my nose (nostril) pierced for about 25 years. I’m 45 now and feeling that if I’m going to do it I should just do it!

I work in a professional role but have crazy coloured hair that doesn’t raise many eyebrows these days. Peers at work have nose piercings (but I assume had them from young). A colleague is getting visible tattoos at 50.

so, should I go for it or would I be ridiculous to do it?

It looks fab OP well done. I'm 45 and have wanted a stud for YEARS too but I have a bump on my nose (old break from when I was a child that didn't heal straight) and I'm worried it I'll look ugly. Maybe I should try it and take it out if it looks crap. Anyone with a non "cute" nose have it done? How's it look?

Bump not bull

Go for it. Ive had numerous piercings over the years. My DD15 has caught the piercings bug too. It can be addictive.

TheVolturi · 03/06/2023 11:32

I'm considering this too at 42. Although I have had 8 new tattoos since the start of the year so a piercing is way less radical I guess!
Age is irrelevant, if you want to do something then do it!

Lira715 · 03/06/2023 11:32

Do it .. you wanted to do it for so long, life too short if you hate it you can just take it out x

Needle only here. DD had to wait till she was 10 to get hers done because I said no guns. (I have a severe nickel allergy that I think was caused by my gun piercings as a teen.)

Can I ask why a gun would cause this but a needle wouldn't? (I have allergy too)

Because the studs had to be 9ct gold back then to be hard enough to pierce the skin. 9ct gold is strengthened with nickel.

Research shows more nickel allergy in females and a consistently high proportion of them had fun-pierced ears.

I don’t know what todays gun studs are made out of but DD wasn’t having anything but titanium in hers.

Looks great, well done!!

Kerantli · 03/06/2023 12:23

Do it!
I had my lip redone in 2020 at 32 after missing the one I had taken out in 2015. Plus most nose studs are quite small, it took a good few years for some people to even realise I have mine done.
I use ones where the stem curls into a U shape to stop it from fully falling out when knocked as I found I was losing on average 3 nose studs a week with ball stem ones.

MuddaUdders · 03/06/2023 12:47

Well done for going for it! It looks awesome. I hope it heals nicely :)

PimpMyFridge · 03/06/2023 12:59

@AmITooOldToDoThis that makes sense. Thanks. ☺️

I DID IT!!!!!!!

Only hurt for a second. Very little blood. Eyes barely watered.

Wondering why I didn’t do it sooner!

It looks great!

Devpatelslaughingeyes · 03/06/2023 14:12

Well done! 😁

HoleyShit · 03/06/2023 14:59

Yes definitely go for it! I had mine done last yr (I'm 39) and I love it!

Momentarily painful and then it's all done. Don't let the fear put you off, you'll be just fine.

DrManhattan · 03/06/2023 15:15

No don't do it!

HoleyShit · 03/06/2023 15:39

Oh sorry I see you've had it done!

Well done, looks great!

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 03/06/2023 15:45

Looks great!

Don’t worry about the healing time, of all my piercings my nose was the fastest to heal. I’m meticulous about cleaning them while they’re healing but it had healed within about 10 days.

Use saline solution for contact lenses as it comes in a squeeze bottle that makes it easier to squirt into the hole.

I have the dogs’ bollocks of healing sprays. @

I think maybe you've inspired me to do it too. I'm the same age and have been thinking about it for years but been put off because of my bump shaped nose. But fuck it! Why not? I could just take it out if it looks crap. Yours looks awesome

emmetgirl · 03/06/2023 20:22

I'm 56 and had my nose pierced when I was about 40. Do it! If you don't like it you can take it out. No big deal.

ItsNotFairLois · 03/06/2023 20:30

I got mine pierced at 15 and then my mum got hers done on holiday one year, she was in her 40's. If you want it go for it, if you decide you really don't like it after having it done then you can just take it out and let it heal over but at least you would know :)

ItsNotFairLois · 03/06/2023 20:32

Sorry just RTFT, it looks brill well done!

Got mine at the same age. Why not?
Make sure it's a reputable tatooist/piercer who uses a needle and sterilises everything. Pain wise, on a scale of 1 to childbirth it was about a 3. Much quicker though 😎

Sent a pic to a friend I’ve had for about 20 years.

“I thought you already had a nose piercing,” she replied. 😂😂😂

Daughter arranged mine for my 53rd!!! Love it. Eye watering for about 30 seconds. Bloody long 30 seconds but heeled quickly and never had any problems. I love it 🥰 did I say that 🤔😂 I do. Do it 👍
