Dan Wootton is a prick

Lots of threads on PS at the moment but I'd like to look a bit more closely at Dan Wootton the so called celebrity expert who is literally salivating over the Holly and Phil controversy. This is the man who writes horrible vitriol about celebrities daily. He stuck the knife into Caroline flack repeatedly. I'm not defending Phil, he's done wrong and the whole culture at ITV seems toxic but seriously? Is this ok? Do these people honestly want to push people to the very brink with their witch hunts?

I like Eamon Holmes and I think he has a relevant point to make but pairing up with Dan is just awful and cheap. Dan actually interviewed Kerry Katona recently who made many references to Caroline Flack (in a positive light) and Dan just sat there utterly barefaced as if he wasn't part of the media circus that pushed her to suicide.

It really seems like they won't be happy until Phil does something to harm himself at which point he'll probably change his tune and talk about what a great bloke he is. Utter utter scum.

This is news????

Lampzade · 02/06/2023 22:45

He is a horrible individual.
He even has a nasty, vindictive demeanour.
Can’t stand him

No it's not news, it's an observation. I knew this already but surely in light of recent events you can appreciate just how much more a prick someone you already thought was a prick is?

Wootton and Morgan both need to sail off to the USA and join tat TV on FOX or something where this type of TV 'journalism' is celebrated and what they have clearly modelled themselves on.

Teaslurpershutup · 02/06/2023 22:52

Eammon Holmes and Ruth Langston must have known what what was going on with PS so as far as I'm concerned they are all as bad as one another.

FlipFlopsInMyCar · 02/06/2023 23:08

I quite like him! And Piers!

(Don't think there is anyone in real life I feel I could admit this to! This feels a bit like confession! Though I doubt I'll get forgiveness here 😉)

Prescottdanni123 · 02/06/2023 23:37

I think there is also some people on here won't be happy until he does something to harm himself. Be Kind and anything that slightly resembles it (including if you can't be kind don't actively try to drive someone to suicide) are seen as a crime against human rights by a lot of posters on here.

Gtsr443 · 02/06/2023 23:42

A despicable prick. Eammon Holmes too.

Twentynone21 · 02/06/2023 23:43

Yes, yes, yes, ABSOLUTELY YES! He is a vile excuse for a human being!

CountTheTimes · 02/06/2023 23:44

No, if Schofield harms himself, no one in their right mind will be saying he’s a great bloke.

Schofield is manipulating everyone by hinting at suicide. If he’s going to do it, that’s on him. The manipulation continues because that’s who he is.

Gothambutnotahamster · 02/06/2023 23:46

Complete agree @CountTheTimes

Prescottdanni123 · 02/06/2023 23:51

@CountTheTimes

You don't know how he is really feeling. No one does. If he harms himself as a direct result of the abuse he gets online then the people who have been slagging him off online are at least partly to blame. Just because someone has behaved abominably doesn't mean that they are immune to online attacks. They can be driven to the brink by social media hate too, the same as anybody else. The shitty behaviour of a person does not justify online abuse.

Gothambutnotahamster · 03/06/2023 00:00

Calling him out @Prescottdanni123 is not online abuse. He is entirely responsible for his own actions including being a typical 'casting couch' predator as well as abusing his power on a much younger individual. People are entitled to call him out and disagree with his behaviour. How he acts when called out on his behaviour is entirely on him. Personal responsibility is a thing and if he had any morals he'd accept that.

caringcarer · 03/06/2023 00:03

I think I heard or read, can't remember which now, Dan Wooton reported Schofield to ITV in 2020 when he worked for The Sun newspaper, about the boy runner affair and Schofield. They said there was no issue. They should have investigated it at the time of getting a tip off.

I agree Schofield will do anything to save his own skin. I feel very sorry for his wife who stood by him with coming out as gay only to find he deceived her with his affair with a young runner the whole time.

I think in time more will come out about Schofield having other affairs with very young men he met when they were children.

Artycrafts · 03/06/2023 00:08

He is fine, as far as I'm concerned. I find myself agreeing with most of what he says.

Prescottdanni123 · 03/06/2023 00:11

@Gothambutnotahamster

He has been called out. He has lost his contracts with ITV. By his own admission, his career in television is over. And still it does on and on and on.

Some people have been doing a lot worse than just calling him out. He had said that he feels suicidal. Maybe he is lying or maybe he is telling the truth. When someone says that they are feeling suicidal, it is always best to play it safe take them at their word to avoid any possible disasters.

I agree that he has done wrong and should face suitable consequences from suitable authorities. Not be pushed to the brink or over the brink by people online.

OnlyFins · 03/06/2023 00:17

It’s only been a week or two FFS. Dan Wootton is awful but he has stuck at this story coming out and I’m glad he has tbh. Even if he did it for the wrong reasons.

Jellos · 03/06/2023 00:28

I actually don’t know how the likes of Dan and Piers can sleep at night. They must tell themselves that what they’re doing is in the public interest or maybe they’re just completely lacking in empathy. They’re no better than the people they write about. I guess some people don’t care, isn’t 1 in every 100 people a psychopath or something?

They did. Ruth put in a grievance about it and then they both got the sack from This Morning.

Gothambutnotahamster · 03/06/2023 00:35

@Prescottdanni123 but calling him out isn't online abuse. I've not seen any abuse, just people sickened by his actions and calling him out on that. He doesn't like being held to account for so long and wants it all to go away, so is using threats to silence us as if we don't be quiet now, he'll take his own life.

Sadly those who are genuinely wanting to take their own lives, generally don't speak out but go about it quietly - speaking out as he has is his way of shutting everyone up. I don't believe anything he says for a second - there is nothing genuine about him.

This!

Prescottdanni123 · 03/06/2023 00:43

@Gothambutnotahamster

We must not be looking in the same place because I've seen loads of abuse. I get that people wanted him called out. They've called him out. His TV career is in ruins. And yet people are still going on and on about it. What do they want to achieve? To see him dragged in front of a judge? I find this hard to believe as they are going the wrong way about it. I get a few weeks ago that people wanted to call him out and were using social media platforms to essentially urge him to step down/get ITV to drop him. But now people are being nasty for the sake of being nasty. Again, that is not really going to achieve anything. It does feel like some people genuinely do just want to see him harm himself in some way.

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 03/06/2023 00:56

He's apologised, there really isn't much more he can do.

Between covering for his pedo brother and this, he could disappear with his millions and live a quiet life in quite a luxurious manner.

I think it's his arrogance and the 'if you don't leave me alone I will kill myself like Caroline flack', which is rubbing people up the wrong way.

Why is he going on social media? He could go quietly now he's said his piece, but he is now twisting it to play the victim and prolonging his own agony because he wants to stay in the limelight.
