Dan Wootton is a prick

bitzermaloney23 · 02/06/2023 22:41

Lots of threads on PS at the moment but I'd like to look a bit more closely at Dan Wootton the so called celebrity expert who is literally salivating over the Holly and Phil controversy. This is the man who writes horrible vitriol about celebrities daily. He stuck the knife into Caroline flack repeatedly. I'm not defending Phil, he's done wrong and the whole culture at ITV seems toxic but seriously? Is this ok? Do these people honestly want to push people to the very brink with their witch hunts?

I like Eamon Holmes and I think he has a relevant point to make but pairing up with Dan is just awful and cheap. Dan actually interviewed Kerry Katona recently who made many references to Caroline Flack (in a positive light) and Dan just sat there utterly barefaced as if he wasn't part of the media circus that pushed her to suicide.

It really seems like they won't be happy until Phil does something to harm himself at which point he'll probably change his tune and talk about what a great bloke he is. Utter utter scum.

Dan Wootton left ITV after disagreeing with the terms he was asked to work for. So not an impartial person one bit when it comes to this.

I would not send him to the US out of consideration for them.

Yes it's interesting how all the low grade gobshites laying into PS and ITV on GB News have a personal axe to grind.
Who said it? Why did they say it? What do they gain from saying it?
People on here truly believing that a cunt like Wootton is doing some kind of public service. 🙄

EvilElsa · 03/06/2023 08:25

I think even Dan Wootton knows Dan Wootton is a prick. He just doesn't care as he makes money from being one.

topnoddy · 03/06/2023 08:26

He's a "journalist" it goes hand in hand with being a low life scummer

grass321 · 03/06/2023 08:28

I'm not a big DW fan but he's managed to reveal what was going on at itv.

And no, I don't feel sorry for PS. You reap what you sow and he needs to face the consequences of his actions. Pulling the Caroline Flack card was low and be kind is too often used to silence people raising valid concerns.

I don't think he's feeling suicidal. He's a classic narcissist who wants to control the narrative. Having had people fawn over him for years, his ego can't bear the thought of being irrelevant and shunned from the glitzy socialising.

Tough, he should have thought of that before he groomed an impressionable teenager. The only person deserving of sympathy is MM as the victim. PS is the perpetrator and MM isn't the only teenage boy he was snap-chatting. So spare us the poor me interview and your effort to spin the PR back in your favour,

NooNakedJacuzziness · 03/06/2023 08:33

Dan Wootton seems to think this is the story of the decade, it's embarrassing to see how invested he is in it. Yes PS has absolutely done wrong but unless there's something else that hasn't come out yet I think it's time to leave it alone.

WoolyAndYug · 03/06/2023 08:34

DW is calling out a predator and he's the bad one?

PS interview was acting and manipulative in my view. He basically said don't criticise me or I'll commit suicide. Talking about Caroline flack like that was gross.

Eleganz · 03/06/2023 08:36

The reality is that Dan Wooton can be a massive prick and PS can still have questions to answer about exactly what his relationship was with the young man he had an affair with before he reached the legal age of consent. The two are not mutually exclusive.

AConstantGreyInTheClouds · 03/06/2023 06:30

Dan Wootton being a prick is less if a concern against the moment that Philip Schofield grooming a child and ITV covering it all up. So Dan can crack on as far as I’m concerned.

Threatening suicide and comparing himself to others like Carolina Flack is a manipulation tactic used by many abusers to keep or gain back control. It’s a shame some people can’t see that. Schofield is still looking out for himself only, whilst pretending otherwise. It’s all about him as it inevitably is with his type.

Yes.

This OP seems to have joined MN just to try to deflect criticism from Schofield, which is interesting. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this is their only thread of course.

The ‘be kind’ people should all remember that Schofield is paying a PR crisis comms team who are being paid probably a great deal of money to make sure we all feel
sorry for a powerful man whose behaviour has been extremely problematic. Manipulating your sympathy and kindness is exactly the aim.

WoolyAndYug · 03/06/2023 08:38

I don't for a second believe it was a workplace romance which happened to have an age gap.

I'd be interested to know how many other kids who tweeted him got access to work experience at the studios and then a job? I wonder if it was only the one he ended up sleeping with.

Hecate01 · 03/06/2023 08:47

After watching the interview I don't feel sorry for Schofield one bit. You can see he's been coached by his PR team and he didn't seem to mind scrutinising other celebrities when they were sat on the This Morning couch so what goes around comes around.

LizzieSiddal · 03/06/2023 08:48

Exactly! This is what many people are missing. PS lied to everyone, as did some at ITV and because some knew they was lying they kept up the pressure. PS is responsible for his own downfall.
I think the BBC interview has made people even more angry with him. His mentions of suicide and Caroline Flack was disgraceful. He’s a manipulative liar with a victim complex.

Unsure33 · 03/06/2023 08:52

He is a sanctimonious hypocrite . When it turned out amber heard had committed perjury in the court case between him and Johnny depp he just chose to keep silent . Plus I hear he has skeletons in the closet himself .

Indeed. He chose not to answer the question about other relationships. And there's been a few teenage boys sharing chats with Phil from their social media pages.

He's trying to control the coverage which is understandable. But he doesn't get to do that, however much he vapes his way through pity me interviews. He's used his power to groom a teenager who clearly wasn't without his own issues.

And if his colleagues have axes to grind, perhaps he should have treated them more professionally. Phil and Holly feature regularly on MN threads on who's the worst celebrity you've met. They are not the saccharine, sweet people they want people to think they are.

LizzieSiddal · 03/06/2023 08:56

Agree, the press know there’s others and PS’s suicide talk is an attempt to shut other revelations right down. I know people who’ve worked in TV for 30 years. One told me PS was gay about 20 years ago, everyone knew!!

MayThe4th · 03/06/2023 08:58

Nobody has covered themselves in glory here.

We all know what PS did was wrong. He didn’t need to go on tv to say it but tbh the investigation needs to be done by the right parties now, not through trial by media.

The vitriol directed at hw is disgraceful and inexcusable.

DW and Eamon Homes and whoever else has done a “what a hero I am to speak out now” interview were all just biding their time until. They knew that they could benefit and further their own agendas by speaking out.

There never was a super injunction. That was just rumour and hearsay put out there. Any of these people could have spoken out publically at any time but they didn’t. Why not? Because it wouldn’t have benefited them to do so.

The only reason why they’re shouting their mouths off now is because they stand to benefit from it.

I wonder what any of them have to hide.

And how does any of this make what Phillip Schofield has done any less terrible?

Who gains from focusing ire on Wooton here?

He could be the biggest arsehole in the history of arseholes and it wouldn’t make Schofield’s PR strategy of playing the victim and waving the spectre of suicide around any less awful.

Pretty much!

PS made it a lot worse for himself by not quitting when the writing was on the wall. If he had gone with some dignity there wouldn't have been all of the media attention about how awkward this morning was, commentary on what the future held for the show etc in the same way which obviously then reiterated what he'd done. He could have taken a step back and lived happily on his millions. But no, the sad vaping interview, taking others down with him and minimising what he's done is pathetic. I do agree the media should leave him alone, but that includes not printing his sorry excuses and whatever else.

It's MM I feel sorry for in all of this.

In what way is one grieving mother’s opinion on Schofield ‘pesky facts’?

I imagine Caroline Flacks mum can’t say much about Philip when her daughter had a relationship with a 17 year old when she was early 30s.

LakeTiticaca · 03/06/2023 09:07

The problem is social media is 24/7. Scroll on Facebook and every other news site is regurgitating the same stuff about the days hot story (Schofield in this instance) Back in the day it would be newspaper headlines and that was it for the day. Now its in everyone's faces constantly.
Schofield needs to stop giving self pitying interviews, get off social media, and quietly disappear.
He can certainly afford it

I suspect it gets a bit old having people keep bringing up her dead daughter though. Imagine having a child commit suicide and then people keep bringing it up when they've made a mess of their own making, it's pretty gross really. I'm sure she does agree that ITV let him down as they certainly let her daughter down.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 03/06/2023 09:12

Teaslurpershutup · 02/06/2023 22:52

Eammon Holmes and Ruth Langston must have known what what was going on with PS so as far as I'm concerned they are all as bad as one another.

Yep this too. However I do feel that in their case they both may have raised this with itv execs/HR and got told “no we can’t sack Phil” so either they resign or the situation stays as is as it did until recently.

If you object to your daughter’s suicide being discussed in the media… going on newsnight to discuss how terribly ITV are treating schofield isn’t exactly helping. Is it?

Imagine there's still people who think that was a genuine relationship and not a PR stunt ordered as part of the big Cowell money making machine.
