Are we allowed to talk about this young man's videos and the wider impact he may have on youth culture?

(Not sure as it involves ongoing legal issues, I believe?)

I don't live in London, nor do I watch TikTok, so the behavior of this young man, and the police's lack of action towards him, has really shocked me! How was he only arrested and fined AFTER becoming infamous online? How is asking a lone young woman if she "wants to die" seen as funny?

Given his notoriety, I'm worried he will lead to a load of copycats now Angry

This situation hasn't just come about randomly though, has it? Everybody knows that the police are ineffective in London and that there are few punishments handed out. He isn't saying anything groundbreaking, unfortunately. He is just better at making money out of it.

I hate mental illness getting thrown about for twats like this. I have several mental illness and would never dream of behaving like this.

There are different kinds of mental illness. If he has one, it may not be what you have.

loislovesstewie · 29/05/2023 20:23

The problem is that young people start doing stupid stuff, maybe minor crime, they get away with it, and don't see any reason to stop. After a while they graduate to more serious crime, quite often they are presented as being deprived and they again get off with something like a suspended sentence. By the time they have graduated to very serious crime and get a custodial in early adulthood they are stuffed for life. I've seen young men do this, it starts off as being a bit of a laugh but they end up cocking up their whole lives. And when they get to actual prison the tough guy realizes that he isn't actually tough. And they come out and carry on because there is nothing else for them to do.
I don't have any answers, but the criminal justice system doesn't act as either a deterrent or punishment or rehabilitation. Basically it's neither use nor ornament.

DojaPhat · 29/05/2023 20:24

I cannot believe a bunch of white women have led me to defending this absolute menace of a boy who should not be terrorising people just going about their business but alas, just another day on mumset. You all enjoy while the thread lasts... Surely there must be a few more racist jokes to crack before the sun sets.

SureJanSure · 29/05/2023 20:24

I also see mental illness being regularly used as excuse for school shooters, etc in the US so I doubt it's far-fetched.

SureJanSure · 29/05/2023 20:27

There are so many kids in school with his attitude. You can't touch me, it's all just bants innit. Then they give it alright Karen don't be racist when called out.

Is this only a particular demographic then?

goldengooze · 29/05/2023 20:30

I don't know about mental illness specifically but something isn't all there with him. We almost got a hint of it in the Piers interview but he's obviously very defensive.

If he sat down with a psychologist, I doubt they'd be saying 'yep, this one has a completely normal functional psyche'. He has issues that need to be worked through.

SureJanSure · 29/05/2023 20:32

I agree. It's just obvious to me.

Bacari is Swahili. At least keep the derogatory comments around race and ethnicity down.

Lots of names don’t translate well in other languages.

https://www.thelocal.fr/20200623/the-5-boys-names-that-mean-something-very-different-in-french

Do you think that having a Swahili name means he is above being mocked? .

HRTQueen · 29/05/2023 20:54

not for those involved but the attention he has received has been blown out of proportion

does he had any mh issues I don’t know, should their be consequences and punishment absolutely but this is the age of social media and companies have no interest in managing the output as long as there are people watching they are responsible also

he isn’t the only one putting up such posts but he has gained the most attention

ToeJammed · 29/05/2023 21:10

You know, I don't care what someone's skin colour, race, sex, gender, background, religion, age, marital status or MH condition is, it doesn't give anyone the right to terrorise people and think they're above the law when doing so.
The law should apply to everyone who breaks it.

CannotDoThisAnymore · 29/05/2023 21:15

Im just waiting for him to prank the wrong person and see what happens. Last laugh will be on him

dawngreen · 29/05/2023 21:20

Nope the blood was real!!

QueenofFox · 29/05/2023 15:11

I live in his vicinity, in fact many of the videos take place on the corner of my road and the local older population are terrified of him. I think it’s shocking no one does anything.

That's really sad

whynotwhatknot · 29/05/2023 21:37

lets not go down the mh road theres no excuse for all this whatsoever

benkenobi · 29/05/2023 21:40

FrostyFifi · 29/05/2023 18:49

Indeed. I have no idea of his cultural heritage but if it's African it'll be conservative, definitely children within wedlock and two involved parents.

Yes you're right. You have no idea of "African cultural heritage" 🤦🏿‍♀️

HazyDragon · 29/05/2023 21:44

I had nothing but contempt for him when I saw what he had been doing, but honestly this thread 🙄

I can't even be bothered.

Thesharkradar · 29/05/2023 21:45

He presents in a way which is utterly obnoxious, I find him extremely unlikeable, but still I feel sorry for him.
Long before things got this bad there should have been a good male role model to stand up to him and show him the RIGHT way to be a man.
The problem of men is caused by the failure of men to do the right thing by their sons.🙁

FrostyFifi · 29/05/2023 21:45

I'm from southern Africa you daftie.

Oh well done 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
So you DO know all about the conservative ways of Africa. I can only speak for Nigeria as that’s where I’m from and even then I wouldn’t be so arrogant to speak about my cultural heritage as I’m aware of the many different cultures within the country. Although I’d do a pretty good job. Not bad for a “daftie”.
You crack on with your sweeping statements ✌🏿

qazxc · 29/05/2023 21:55

In an ideal world tik tok/ you tube/ whatever platforms he is using would delete his accounts. Right now he doesn't care because he is getting attention, positive or negative doesn't matter to him.

I don't see anything wrong with what Frosty said. It may be a blanket statement but it's largely true, even for Nigeria.

FrostyFifi · 29/05/2023 21:58

@benkenobi bloody hell. There were people on this thread making all sorts of unpleasant racist insinuations, I pointed out over a couple of posts that in fact traditional African culture in my experience tends to be convervative but caveated it with that I wasn't assuming that was his immediate background, and that the issue in my mind was more related to an overly permissive, poorly policed UK society...
And it's me you jump on. Not all the posts about babydaddies and similar crap.
This place sometimes...

SureJanSure · 29/05/2023 22:00

I agree. @FrostyFifi I saw the posts you were responding to and ithink Benkenobi's ire has been misplaced. Hopefully miiunderstood your post.
