^^
He woke us at 8.24 am moving his lawn. Is that normal?
AIBU to think that’s too early? We’re three terraced houses so you can’t escape some noise but 8.24 on a bank holiday!?

He’s been annoying since they moved in so i think I’m just annoyed at him.

I think anything after 8am is fine, although you'll get people telling you the birds mustn't dare to sing before 11.

Paperlate · 29/05/2023 09:24

Wouldn't bother me. Nearly half 8 is not that early.

CherryCokeFanatic · 29/05/2023 09:27

Single man?

What else has been annoying?

Coffeeandcards · 29/05/2023 09:34

Yeah I do think that’s inconsiderate tbh.

polkadotdalmation · 29/05/2023 09:39

7 would be too early but that time is fine. Do you have children? Mine would be awake well before 8 so lie ins are a thing of the past.

Wildspace · 29/05/2023 09:40

After 8am is fine. Although I quite like the buzz of a lawnmower!!

LemonjeIIo · 29/05/2023 09:41

Very annoying
I have a habitual tyre burner and fire starter near me. Every bank holiday or sunny day

FloweryWowery · 29/05/2023 09:42

I'm up by then, but wouldn't dream of mowing the lawn at that time

TheDogsGoneMad · 29/05/2023 09:46

I am shocked 😄 We are clearly very lazy!

In answer to the question of what else he’s done- dog constantly barks, takes bins down at midnight (over cobbled drive that wakes everyone), has decided we’ll have to move our car when his wife/girlfriend gets hers (car is parked in our own space), sits out in the front garden with dog tied up and every time you leave or enter your house the dog goes ballistic- yesterday we had to go out there to check on (grown) DS as he drove in and then we heard dog barking and snarling (it was at DS).

We’ve also got horrible colds so I’m feeling sorry for myself :)

sorry- just read that others also think it’s early. I wouldn’t dream of mowing that early.

TheDogsGoneMad · 29/05/2023 09:48

@LemonjeIIo that’s horrible. Isn’t there anything that can be done about the tyre burning?

Reading with intrigue

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 29/05/2023 09:50

Someone once posted about throwing oxo cubes onto a lawn in the rain. Apparently the dogs will dig holes trying to get to the meat. A destroyed front garden might stop him leaving the dog tied up there?

But 8 am for mowing lawns, although annoying is not unreasonable. If he kept on doing it at that time I'd reciprocate with other noise they would find less pleasant though....

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 29/05/2023 09:50

My neighbour starts with the lawnmower about 7.30-8am every Saturday morning. She likes to get it done before they go out for the day.

I think it bothers me more because she doesn't work and is home all week so has ample opportunity to do it some other time. I work long hours during the week and don't appreciate being woken early on a Saturday.

TheDogsGoneMad · 29/05/2023 09:51

@Hawkins0001 why intrigue?

OP posts:
ApolloandDaphne · 29/05/2023 09:51

8.30 am doesn't seem at all early to me.

TheDogsGoneMad · 29/05/2023 09:52

@YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan same situation here. They work from home so why 8.24 on bank holiday Monday?

Octonaut4Life · 29/05/2023 09:55

Anything involving heavy machinery before 9am on a weekend or bank holiday is inconsiderate and selfish. No way is 8am a reasonable cut off! There's absolutely no need to be mowing a lawn at that time.

FloofCloud · 29/05/2023 09:56

Get ear plugs, most people are up by that sort of time and if not you need to prep to deal with life noises I'm afraid

CheeseandGherkins · 29/05/2023 09:57

I don't consider 8.30 to be early.

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/05/2023 09:57

8:55am ok? That's the time I start on ours.

Neighbours are welcome to retaliate, but they'd have to be up bloody early for it to wake me up.

Equalitea · 29/05/2023 09:58

I don’t think around 8.30 is unreasonable tbh.

Yabu.

LlynTegid · 29/05/2023 09:58

No is a complete sentence re the car request.

I think you should consider whether the dog is being adequately cared for, and if not, call the RSPCA.

Timing of mowing reasonable, would not be on a Sunday though.

If this works I would do it. I used to walk past a house with a huge dog that would bark at you. I can't imagine if it was next door
